  1. There are various methods of removing the AR (Dremel with buffer wheel is the fastest one), just do a search on the forum. That is way too much, if you don't want to remove it yourself, you may want to try asking Hont or some other dealers. Also, "lens effect", could mean that it doesn't distort around the edges, and may have nothing to do with AR.
  2. Great post The Zigmeister.
  3. The genuine was made, by Panerai, for the Egyptian navy's divers. From its size I'd say it was made to be wearable with the deep sea diving suits (the ones with the metal helmets). That's the only reason I could see for it being so large - definitely not something for everyday, bear arm, use
  4. Oh wow, Jackson has made an homage of the new Big E rep. I'd never wear one, unless it was attached to a big chain around my neck of course, but it would make a good wall clock or night table clock
  5. Ah, I'm sort of in schizophrenic mode going from this site to another. If I say something negative about the cartel in the other, it is usually more trouble than it is worth. And yes, at least they're being reasonable with their pricing on this.
  6. I was going to remark, in a sarcastic tone, that if they've emailed that it's ti, then it must be I've had one of these cases and there is very little difference in weight from the SS ones. However a cheap JacksonTse ti case seems to have half the weight of its SS counterpart. Too bad it has other deficiencies. Thanks for posting the pics, by the way.
  7. There are a few titanium models that come with a "tobacco" dial that exhibits this behavior, but yours looks more black than anything. Maybe just the light, though.
  8. My dial already has the "T SWISS T", so luckily I don't need that done. But I'm definitely getting the lume done by him. Just waiting until I've finished assembling my 082, so I can send it too - and my DSN 089 probably. The reason for sending the DSN is because The Zigmeister's application is so much better and more uniform than Davidsen's latest dials.
  9. As far as sources for buying stems, a member (I believe it was kbiz) gave me a great tip. This eBay seller. USD 2.80 for three stems - 25 types to choose from, including 0,9mm and 1,2mm 7750 stems. And currently he has a sale 12 stems for USD 8.40. Shipping is only $2
  10. As far as swan necks, they are very common on all the latest 6497 reps, especially display back ones. I saw these latest ti offerings, but have heard so many members on RG say that the ti cases in the past year have been terrible. Of course I've been unable to find out what they mean by terrible, except for the JacksonTse ones (not deep enough for regular dials and movements).
  11. That looks great, so it is sort of an off white now? Any lume shots? I'm about to send my 082 to him, so I may include this one as well. EDIT: oh, wait a second didn't you have that up for sale very recently on RG? Didn't realize it was Zig lumed. Yes it was yours, and I saw the lume shots, very nice - off to The Zigmeister then
  12. I picked up a PAM 036 with the DSN dial pictured below (Tritium markings). I know he was trying to go for the aged look, but I hate the colour and frankly, if it where a gen, I'd be reluming or selling it. I understand The Zigmeister has a special mixture for this series, but haven't seen a pic of what it looks like. So does anyone have any pics of this dial relumed, and what colour would the Tritium lume look like after ten years?
  13. Only homage from Jackson Tse.
  14. Probably just figures he'll be even happier with 10K to buy some more watches
  15. Hah! Two "winkies" in a row, neat Guess I shouldn't have answered the phone before pressing "Submit"
  16. Perhaps the member and eBay seller are one in the same At least I found out what JV stands for, I thought it was a nubuck, really like those straps.
  17. Just noticed the strap, what is a JV strap?
  18. A member/dealer on RG sells them, and they do come up for sale in the sales area once in a while. I don't think many of the regular dealers carry it though. You could try Hont or even just email a trusted dealer and ask. But I'd say your best bet would be Sead of RG (RepGeek).
  19. Yes the lume on it is a flaw, but I understand The Zigmeister has a mix that emulates the Tritium look (will have to double check). And real nice
  20. No rep uses Tritium though, is this a gen? Just looked and my rep 036 has "T SWISS T" on the dial
  21. Noob here What is special about a "T SWISS T" Luminor? Just wondering because I believe I have one whose dial has it, will have to double check.
  22. Different in what way?
  23. Hmmm, where have I seen this before? By the way, I notice you mention the "Tachyme(tre/ter)" being wrong. It actually isn't, it just depended upon where you bought your genuine. North America, G.B. and some other English speaking countries had "meter", other countries (mainly Europe I believe) had "metre".
  24. Has ti buckles? If he does, they aren't branded with "Panerai".
  25. 24mm at the lugs, then 24mm or 22mm at the ends depending upon what buckle you want to use. If you're using deployant it is 22mm at the ends and has to be made specifically for deployant (thinner strap). Titanium buckles are hard to find, StrapCulture has some titanium plated ones though.
