  1. You mean the ones I've refused to sell at any price? LOL Bill
  2. Nahhh, the way I hear it, if you go and buy a Canal Street quartz for $500, nobody is going to complain! Bill
  3. Hey Pizz, I been away a while. Work, kids, life . . . and a wife with NO freakin sense of humor who simply cannot understand why her husband needs a hundred wrist watches. Hope all is well with you and yours. Thanks for the bid. Bill
  4. Ohhhhhh Nooooooo - you don't get off that easy Ken. I made no such stipulation. I agree that it would completely thwart the whole game for anyone to bid with any hint of inside information but I represent to this group that Ken has no earthly idea what's in the bag, so to speak. C'mon Dude, break out that wallet - unless, of course, anyone objects. [snicker] Bill
  5. Not to worry - I figured $300 was the starting point because everyone knows I don't buy anything for less than that kind of money. You can't tell, the bidding may get serious . . . like someone once said, they're born every minute. On the other hand, someone else once said something about casting out a little bread. Are we having fun yet? Bill
  6. You didn't bid on my mystery watch? Tsk tsk

  7. OK, I give up -- color me noob! What does the postmaster thingy mean below my avatar and why the red X. What did I do wrong now? Bill
  8. Hey Stephane, hope to see you involved! After all, on a forum where nobody agrees about anything, I think we all would love to see a moderator spend a bazillion bucks for a Rolex Sub from Canal Street with a quartz movement . . . or whatever! Bill
  9. Have you thought about what you just suggested? The ONLY damn thing I got going for me is, I make the money around here. If she thought for one second . . . okay, picture a little latin chic cruising around in a new Vette with a little shrunken head hanging from the rear view mirror. Bill
  10. Freddy, you're scary. If you don't behave yourself round here, I'll let my wife read some of your posts. She's kind of sensitive about pouring money into rep watches! True story. After we were married, she said to me, "You know about Africans and shrinking heads?" I said, "Sure." She said, "Everyone knows that but it wasn't Africans - look it up." She's a Latin woman from South America. If she read thru all your posts, as I have been doing lately, she might just work you over on principal! There's folks out there that will tell you, "a little head is always a wonderful thing." I beg to differ. Bill
  11. Oh my, what a way to get VIP status! Kind of expensive though! I didn't set a timeline - it never occurred to me that this would take long. I guess this shall prove to be a test of personal character - but sociopathic characters aren't afflicted with inhibitions like guilt! Good thing! LOL Bill
  12. You betting I don't have anything in my boxes worth less than $300? Most people would call that a pretty good bet, but they don't know that I secretly collect digital quartz stuff from KMart! That shouldn't worry you, worst case scenario, you wind up with a watch that keeps much better time than the most expensive stuff the guys round here drool over - and you made a nice donation to the forum. Best case scenario, a miracle testimonial to the value of blind faith. Pay to play! Bill
  13. Weird -- three posts today all with the same post count? I'm confused . . . but what else is new. Bill
  14. OMG, a noob gets off first - Dude, you do realize we are talking about US dollars not dirhams? Don't you know there are reps you can buy for $40? Bill
  15. Yes, by all means, bid right here - and if you want this POS in a box big enough to hold a loaf of bread, I'll accommodate you! In fact, just because it's you, a may just upgrade my offering to one with a quartz movement that keeps perfect time! LOL Bill
  16. I think you're "dead on" - you put it in the proverbial nutshell. One thing I do know for sure - Josh would kill to be able to put something on his site that our resident WIS would all agree was perfect. As miniscule as our market segment is, we do buy a LOT of reps, even if you just look at Subs or SDs. The seller who could sell every Sub purchased by the illuminati few (and you know sales would go thru the roof as we'd all snag a handful knowing how these things can disappear), would make a ton of money! Bill
  17. Greetings All & Sundry. This is posted with Thomas' permission and I must say, a little delight - he may be as twisted as I am. I got a watch for sale and, if you want it, you're going to have to bid on it - I am not pricing it. Moreover, I am not going to post a picture of it - you do NOT get to have a clue what it is. Since there is no price and there is no picture, this is doesn't meet the sales forum guidelines so it is properly posted here - if that troubles you, take it up with Admin. Mystery that it is, it's only fair that their be an ironclad guarantee and there is one if it makes you feel better . . . if it is a beater old Canal Street rep that you bought for $500, you have clear title to it! Winner's bid goes to RWG in it's entirety. Winner can expect a package via FedEx at my expense. Most of you will no doubt recognize that you'd have to be crazy to risk serious money on these terms - that's the whole idea. In fact, I'll add another little piece of information. Thomas knows exactly who I am and he'll confirm for anyone who asks that five minutes on Google with my name would establish that I have been involved in more fraud than all the rest of the people that all of you collectively know put together - and our deal is, although he knows exactly what's going on here, he doesn't tell anyone anything else. Now doesn't that just fill you with faith and confidence! [snicker] One might reasonably ask why I'd set this up to discourage bidding -- it's simple, I just want to play with my friends. On the other hand, you will note that there is no requirement that any bidder have any particular status on here. The last thing I'd expect would be to see some noob take a big risk on someone they don't know squat about but, twisted soul that I am, my motivation is the sheer fun of it, and that would be the ultimate ironic hoot! Somebody want to take a chance? Two other thinga. 1) Upon receipt, the winner is expected to post some good pics of whatever he got and, if he/she is thus inclined, the winner is free to offer it for sale - assuming that anyone might actually want to give you so much as a wooden nickel for it! 2) If nobody bids, nobody wins (duh). In that case, I'll post pics and we can all enjoy a good laugh, or cry, together! One caveat - I must reserve the right to cap this thing at my discretion. For example, I would never in a million years imagine that anyone would bid $10,000 but, I couldn't allow it for obvious reasons. "And we'll have fun, fun, fun til Daddy takes the T-Bird away." LOL Bill
  18. Hey Freddy, " . . . gens and gen powered frankens" - like plural? You must be an addict! My wife would . . . no, I ain't even going to speculate. That is a nice looking bracelet and it seems cheap for $148. Do you have to grind the rivets off and all that as you previously described to use it? Did you notice that all those Yuki cases come with no waterproof guarantee? The reps I tested, even the Chinese cheapos, were waterproof to 5ATM. What's up with that?! What kind of money do you think it would cost to build a really good gen powered DRSD? Not suicidal, just curious. Bill
  19. Hey, how ya be! I been away for a while huh! Bill
  20. I see your point but consider the fact that Rolex spends a fortune fighting reps, and they have all the law enforcement authorities in the world for muscle. If all the manufacturers got together, I don't see how they could stop some rogue entrepreneur somewhere from putting them all out of business. Just my thoughts. Bill
  21. I agree with you. Whatever else you want to say about these folks, they are smart, clever, talented and shrewd. Imagine that you knew nothing about reps and just bought a gen. If someone put one of the best currently available reps in your hand and told you what it cost, would you believe it to be possible? It would cost about $300 to build a perfect rep (since that's about what it cost Rolex back when I knew) and their labor is cheaper than Swiss. If they truly perfected it, who among us wouldn't pay $1000 for it in a heart beat? They are damn near there now with that close to perfect watches and rep movements selling for a fraction of that price. I think it can be done, and I think they'll do it. Bill
  22. Since he's not real familiar with some of this, someone might want to tell him what that watch with $700 worth of mods would be worth. I don't suggest that it is a "smart investment" - the people who do these things do it for the love of it, but he should know that the extraordinary value of these particular reps lies in their potential as much as their superior quality and the work you describe (done by one of the respected folk) isn't money just thrown away. It would be self-serving for me to opine since he got the watch from me. Bill
  23. Hey Freddy, That piece about the Helium Valve was fascinating - do you suppose any of the ones in any of the reps actually works? Still, people think I'm crazy for taking a rep diving at all, and I don't see anyone taking one to the kind of depths were He is an issue. What does that Yuki rivet bracelet cost? That looks like a fabulous piece but, correct or not, I'd hate to have to go thru that grind and replace drill to size the watch. It's nice to have screws - but once you got it sized correctly, it would be awesome to have a bracelet that was all riveted together. No reps in years? You married to a friend of my wife? Bill
  24. Can't blame ya for trying. LOL If anybody ever bought this case set from MBW for $150, they should have bought them all. They didn't sell them, and why would they? Install an ETA that you can buy anywhere for next to nothing, and you have a watch people were begging for an opportunity to buy for serious money. I was probably the best customer they ever had, and I had to pay a lot for the set - if I could have bought them for $150, I'd have bought them all. Bill
  25. For the LOT? You crazy . . . didn't you see those gen stingray bands! I'd have to have at least $200, and another $50 to cover the FedEx. I guess, for the sake of the new guy who has no clue, I should make it clear, JK. Bill
