Is Marina Militaire a Genuine brand?
I had assumed it was a 'made up name' after all these Marina Militaire watches are being sold openly by Jackson and GetaWatch company, as homage watches to Panerai.
Anyone elaborate on all this?
Hi! I am planning to order a nice 44mm Pam homage from Marina Militare (jacksontse.com), or from GetatWatch (www.siswatch727.com).Can someone show me a wristshot about a PAM with rubber strap? I have only seen submersible style watch with rubber strap.
Do U have any experience withe leather strap from these dealers? I'am afraid of the so called genuine leather strap comes with the watch is actually genuine plastic. So a black rubber strap would be a better choose, and later a real leather from a third party dealer.
thx

do you know if PWC or anyone else can supply a deployant clasp to fit the strap of the Fiddy?
Had Paolo18 make me this beautiful Ball glove leather strap awhile ago and thought I'd share it here. The watch is a T4D (aka Robert aka PWC) $99 Fiddy:The quality of the strap is superior.

how reliable are the Asian 6497 hand winding movements?
are they costly to repair or to buy?
thanks

what's the lume like on the GetaWatch homage?
can you post some pics please?
cheers

The Jackson site has a misprint - the 6497 is handwind, not automatic. Josh's cheap GMT's use a 21j automatic GMT function movement. You could ask in the Panerai forum about the rep of that movement. I am sure that the movements used by both Getatwatch and Jackson are that same movement. At the price they sell at is sure ain't an ETA.So yes, moving around will wind it up.
Getatwatch has a nicer site, well organized, have heard good things about Jackson but his site is hard to navigate and doesn't list prices (that I can find anyway). I would contact him and get a price quote. I am a little biased because I just bought from Getatwatch and it was like ordering from an good U.S. online retailer - easy, fast, efficient, no hassle, GREAT product.
As to straps, I like the new ones thay are listing in their strap section. Take a look - they are cool and if you like them maybe they can put on on the GMT and charge you a little more (they are nicer imho). Otherwise, I like the rubber....

what's the lume like on your jackson watch?
can you post some pics of the lume?

well for the moment i went with a jackson watch. i would, however, like to find a place that sells a 112-type sandwich dial (prefer that '12) and definitely plan to redo the loom on the numbers (hands are fine). the strap that came with it is a lot nicer than i thought. i do have a strap culture strap on order already tho. build quality seems great, especially for what it cost. not sure how long it will last, but at the price jackson charges, they're practically disposable.what mods would you suggest doing do the watch?
please pardon the iPhone pics
Cheers,
M

where do you find the prices listed on the Jackson website?
Hmm. Not sure on that site. Just look at this homage: http://www.siswatch727.com/showroom/model/...635431000023966He is charging $100 for the same exact watch that Jackson charges $80 for. Not a big deal, but I had that same exact watch from Jackson and I think I paid $80 or something.

do you have a link to the Fiddy on PWC website?
assuming that PWC = Prestige Watch Company aka Robert?
cheers

The homages are better for the most part - the best of them being the hand-wind models (which also applies to the majority of the branded reps, too). There are some good budget PAMs around, but they're seriously outnumbered by the crappy ones. T4D/PWC are the people to go to if you want a good budget PAM and aren't sure of what you're looking at elsewhere...

I looked at these two websites:
"Automatic mechanical 6497 Unitas movement
Automatic-winding (power reserve when in motion)
Power Reserve 42 Hour (after 5 hours of motion) "
Are the movements the same and does the movement in the Jackson function as normal automatic, ie wearing it and moving around during the day will power it up.
Ok to the board which would you go for, the GetaWatch OR Jackson.
In the case of the GetaWatch, the black leather or black rubber strap

Kinda thinking of ordering a 'budget' watch...
I want to know how these Homage Panerai compare to other budget offerings eg the $108 Panerai watches offered by WatchEden.
Is the quality of these homage watches very good, in terms of physical feel and is the rotar in the movement nois like most Asian '21j' movements?
Thanks
-
thanks
I managed to navigate the website and now lusting after the GMTs
Given the LOW price and it looks very good from the pics, what is the actual quality like and what is timekeeping on these homage watches like?
When its says Asian movement, is it referring to a 'good' Asian movement ie one of the movements advertised on its website OR the crappy generic '21j' asian movement that has problems!
Which is better quality, black leather strap OR black rubber strap, has anyone ordered a rubber strap?
Cheers

I can't give you the direct link because they use frames, but on main page, navigate first to "Watch" then "44mm" then "44mm Chronograph" - first one is a Hublot homage, second is the Oris homage. Voila! -
Hi,
can't see the ORIS homage watch on the website, have they run out of stock or no longer selling this?
thanks

Quick review and pics of a couple of watches I bought from a site I saw discussed a while back on RepGeek. The company is called Getatwatch Co., they are a China based dealer of sterile Pam and "Marina Militare" watches, cases, movements, dials, hands, etc... They also sell some "Parnis" (a Chinese homage manufacturer) Pilot and U-Boat homages. I bought a "Zitc" Oris homage and a sterile Pam Radiomir homage. Site url is siswatch727.com/index.do -

Hi,
I believe that Panerai watches have the same strap width as Corum 48mm?
I'm looking for a deployment clasp that will fit the rubber strap of the Corum Admiral's Cup 48mm.
Does anyone know where I can get such a deployment clasp?
thanks

is that rust on the stainless steel bracelet?
Didn't realise that you can get rust on stainless steel or is that only apply to cheap steel?
-
Do any of the rep Corum deployment clasps [single or double] from the rubber straps of other Corum reps fit the rubber strap on the rep Corum Admiral's Cup Comp 48 ?

Which physically looks closest resemblance to the gen pearl?
The standard pearl on the WM9 v2
or
The Patrick82 upgrade to pearl

Out of the box, does this rep come with double AR coating as standard from the factory?
The sub dials are not blue, its the blue crystal thats creating the blue hue. This is the effect caused by the double AR coating for the reps. -
when this watch is worn on the wrist, how high off the wrist does it sit?
I wear a Rolex sub where the case back is not flat, does the Corum sit higher than the Rolex and by how much?
cheers
you won't be disappointed...definitely!...like it has been said several times..this is definitely a super rep...despite not being so popular among rep collectors...I already got tons of compliments on this one from a lot of people...even the AR that is present is not so bad as someone describeed...go and get it!

do you have the link to the Ebay site where this seller is located
maybe everyone can log on to their ebay account and post bad feedback on this seller.

is there any difference between Josh's $108 Explorer I compared to Andrew's $98 Explorer I.
are they identical watches with same movement?
btw what is timekeeping like on these 'budget' reps, +/- how many seconds per day?
thanks
From my reading on here and other forums, sellers that actually give the watch a once over before shipping are rare, but they do exist and are thus quite popular with their own loyal followings, these types tend to send you pictures of the watch you will be receiving before sending out to you.Josh and Andrew are drop shippers, they never see the watch that they are selling to you, so I suppose that it is a lucky dip. That being said I got this 108 explorer from josh and have had no problems with it over the last 2/3 months or so.
-
did you get it from Andrew or Josh?
Is there any QC done before shipping out to customer or is it lucky dip with what you receive?
Do any dealers send out pics of your ACTUAL watch prior to shipping, this would ensure some basic QC
Is the problem with the hands not clearing the dial face, an issue with ALL 'budget' reps including the Explorer I?
those $100 watches are surprisingly good. i got the noobYM with free shipping and its very nice. the mov't is crappy- but it works fine.

so 2 years later......... what is the verdict on the reliability of the DG2813 movement?
I don't know yet, but it's on it's way to me...as soon as I get it - out comes the hammer for detailed analysis...(watchmaker hammer)RG
-
For an Explorer I, is it easy to swap in and out a replacement 2813 movement?
cheers
21J is not an actual movement but a class of cheap asian movements without any complications - they don't even need to have 21 jewels - common examples are the DG2813 (21,600) and the DG4813 (28,800) - I buy the 2813 for about $10 locally (Toronto, Canada)find out the exact movement in there (modified?)
-
how long before a DG2813 movement dies, ie what is normal life expectancy?
I won't mention servicing the DG2813 movement as it is cheaper to replace.
Here's a pic of the standard DG2813 for reference and comparison:
