  1. I take the opposite view of winders. Winders are first and foremost, a convenience device. As with any convenience, there is a price to pay, that price is a speed up to the degradation of the lubricants, not to mention that many of our reps, even those advertised as true ETA, are not manufactured or assembled to the exacting degrees of genuines, thus may have slight grinding issues that will eventually destroy your movt. Winders are good to keep your lubricants from coagulating, however, one good winding per month will do the same. So if you take the view that these are only inexpensive reps which can be replaced, and convenience is your top priority, then by all means, get a winder, but if you want to keep your pieces, then give them a little more time and personal care. I feel that a semi large collection affords me the ability to make these reps last by being able shift the use damage over many watches, so a winder kills that advantage, it also puts a barrier between me and the toys I love to play with.
  2. I agree, looks it passed on through.. as for your shipping method, your seller will have to tell you that.
  3. Absolutely Amazing ! Concentration enough to be Bond !,.. Hey Thor for Bond, not Craig !
  4. I understand the theory of armour perfectly. Sad fact is that many judge others by the superficial, right or wrong, people are constantly pressured to make snap decisions, so if the assessed, has not the projecting type of personality, the next aspect to make judgements upon, is the outer. Personally, I have always been a communicator, was born that way, so I use the shell merely as an accessory, at times, but I never have needed anything but my mind. The main reason for reps are a way to feel what it is like to wear hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of watches for merely a couple of thou. and change my watches like I do my socks.
  5. Ahhhh, the question of the hour, Asian or ETA,.. I think it depends upon the watch, and your disposable income, and the use of a particular watch, but first, as to the question of reliability of Asian movements, my experience has been very good. I have had a few for over ten years, and many over two. As for failures, for watches that I've kept, zero. I have had a few come in with problems, but I sent them back, or gave them away to my sons to go play ball with. Same with ETA. I think there are a whole range of grades within ETA or Asian, the problem being, there is no way to know before hand, as it seems even our dealers don't always know what they are selling. However, that said, living and learning here from the wealth of collective, or maybe just being influenced by the masses, I tend now to choose ETA when I feel it's with a watch that I am serious about, and intend to keep. That especially goes for the 7750. Those are far and few between however, as even though it took me two plus years to put a shape on my self image in timepieces, that outline has eliminated many watches from my list. It hasn't closed it off however and I doubt it ever will, as the outline needs filling in., And that is the fun of the game, I'm just much more selective. So, when I'm experiementing, I tended to go for a less expensive variety, just to test the companionability of a particular watch, and I feel, until one reaches that point of knowing just which watches, will grow and survive your changing tastes, Asian engines remain a smart alternative to automatically throwing extra money into pieces that may not stay the course with you, because for many of us, discovering TRC WT and RWG, is like hitting the jackpot , giving us the chance to dive head first, into the glorious, varied world of styles and functions in watches that we could ill afford otherwise.\ Isn't this Exciting ?
