  1. Think of it as the bagborroworsteal.com for us, but much lesser known. Obviously going into it with as much skepticism as anyone, I figured if I used a cc and they shipped me a rep, it would be easy enough to back out. They're based in Chicago, and with a little Internet savvy you can find the owners. Low enough risk to give it a try. The buying process was fairly straightforward; find a watch you want, select the timeframe you want it, and checkout. The watches all range in price, presumably based on actual value or popularity. Some watches are available weekly, many are available monthly/quarterly. I really wanted the 42mm Speedy pro, but they had rented all, so I ended up getting the 37mm. They have a promo code for 20% off your first rental, so I opted for 3 mos. 37mm Speedy Pro - $95/mo or $245/3mo. I selected overnight shipping for ~$30 and saved roughly that with the promo. Shortly after check out, I received an email from customer service thanking me for, and confirming the watch in the order. I was asked to submit a copy of my ID for verification. I was told I'd receive the watch next day via FedEx. When the box came in, it was stamped with their logo, opened up to find a packing slip, invoice, and a lovely red box. Opened her up to find the magnificent moonie. I doubled checked the chrono movement to make sure all was in proper order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

  3. Absolutely brilliant coverage of cars, style and watches, between them a trifecta http://driven.com http://hodinkee.com
  4. Getting ready to break these out again, waxed with bear fat and beeswax.
  5. Love this watch, if it's working and you're ever looking to part with it
  6. I'm on the bay daily looking for something, I check Chronos24 as well, any other places you look for preowned moonies?
  7. Well, I can certainly appreciate the adversity to trying it, because for folks like me it rules out the likelihood of abuse... if it's not for you, that's ok. Anyhow, for the record, I will never post something that requires payment unless I try it myself first and can actually recommend the service. And, since it worked... so I figured I'd share a little secret from my book... but I'm not going to spend the time trying to refute all of the hubbub bc it would be pointless, you have every right to be skeptical.
  8. There was a story a while back about a guy that started with a paperclip and flipped it for a house. Took a year... I'm also curious about the economic effects of your flipping, did you take much of a loss?
  9. I think a rep swap or gen swap is a superb idea, at SXSW a few years back I met a group of friends that were doing this across country, swapping their houses and everything in with each other--cars, clothes, watches. I guess it saves packing for a trip.
  10. I choose to buy less popular things on eBay, like rolls of Eisenhower Dollars... the math to determine future value is easier too. But I'm really no one to judge on impulses... eBay binging happens. I once bought 20,000 pogs, 10 different lots of vintage timex watches, 36 model airplanes, every variation of Land Rover RC car ever made... Shame
  11. Too many people get swiped on bikes. I've had many courier and commuter friends in cities get clipped. Positive vibes your way, be well, stay safe.
  12. For those who can't afford a gen, or simply want to test drive a watch before buying might want to check out D and C Watch Co. For $49+ / mo you can rent from a selection of ~16 watches, so check out a gen Rollie sub or a Breitling Chronomat or my personal favorite the Speedmaster Pro (I want to be an astronaut). They do also offer a pseudo rent-to-own service, where about half of the money spent on renting can be applied to the purchase price of a watch... If you choose to try this service, please treat it as if you're leasing a Benz take very good care of it, and do not run for the border.
  13. Do you know where to find the crystal?
  14. Influenced by the SBS, the British Royal Navy's special forces unit, these rugged yet refined watches feature reed green G10 NATO strap, "Stealth" inscriptions on the black dial, blacked-out bezels, and either a satin silver or MATT Black Carbon coated case. If you want one, you'd better hurry though — only 28 of each style are being produced. Would be unbelievable if someone could get a rep of one. http://www.projectxdesigns.com/stealth-series.html
  15. In the carnage, the second hand also popped off. Anyone savvy to help? The guides look a but complicated and I don't have the tools...
  16. I can't seem to find Sead.. any advice? Checked member list on repgeek, no luck...
  17. I would second this. I've been looking at TT, and am increasingly certain that aside from having a guru in the forums build you one to spec, this is going to be best you'll find. Some models for $168ish.
