  1. I have one as well - I also have their non-HD in-house DVR as well. The HD version is definitely an improvement over the non-HD version from a reliability standpoint - the non-HD version is quite buggy... I am a recent convert from Dish Network - and as my wife continues to remind me, the Dish DVRs are actually somewhat better. I can't believe Directv can't have an instantaneous 30 sec skip funtion - this allowed the fast forwarding of 6 commercials in about 2 seconds instead 10-15 on Directv. It's also not as responsive as Dish's when coming out of a fast forwarding - seems to be a lag when you hit the keys. I switched because getting HD programming from Dish was twice as expensive, and they would cut me no good deal on equipment even though I'd been with them for 5 years. Overall, love the HD, and it is way faster than the old Tivo versions (even though I haven't owned one), but the software could still use a little improvement (which will happen in time)... I still recommend it.
  2. Please forgive my ignorance here, but my understanding is that the 'typical' seconds position on the 7750 is at 9 o'clock - does this watch having the seconds at center require modification to make it more complicated, i.e. like the seconds at 6 o'clock daytonas, or modification to make it less complicated, potentially increasing its reliability? I've always loved the look of these Chopards, but don't want something that will be breaking down. Thanks...

    Ingenieur

While I agree the hands are fairly easy to spot, to me, the date font is more annoying. Perhaps the rep makers were watching the Ingenieur video on IWC's website when they made the datewheel ...

    Ingenieur

If it's a rep, the hands have been replaced with longer ones...
  5. Thanks! The hands do look much better than what is shown on Josh's site. She may be getting this one for Christmas... Thanks again.
  6. Any chance you could post a pic that better depicts the blue color of the hands. I've been wanted to pick one of these up for the wife, but have been scared away by the viagra blue appearing hands. Thanks...
  7. I did say it was really picky... I probably wouldn't have posted, but I wanted to test Pugwash's tutorial on how to post a pic. I have my first rep en route and wanted to be sure I could post a pic once it arrives. Of course, I'll also be trying his photography lesson as well - already downloaded Picasa and have played with it a bit. Thanks Pugwash (yes the noobs do read the tips on this board)...
  8. If we really want to get picky, one thing I've always noticed is the difference in how the "6" is cut off by the seconds dial. The circular part of the 6 the gen is cut off slightly...
  9. As far as I can tell, the gen AMG is only available in titanium. Having it in SS would certainly seem to be a pretty obvious tell. For what it's worth, I like the AMG dial better, but have the standard one on the way from Trusty (first rep).
  10. I saw the AMG version is now available - does the gen come in SS? I've only ever seen it in titanium. I think I might like the dial of AMG more, but too bad, my Inge is already on its way. If the gen is only titanium, then I'm pleased with my choice...
  11. I read on this board a while back that you may wish to avoid the 7750 for a first rep, as it is more prone to problems than the ETAs - in other words, you don't want to be discouraged from buying more. I chose to follow that advice and ordered an Ingenieur from Andrew on Monday (hopefully I'll soon get my tracking info so I can obsess over the progress of my first rep)...
  12. Great pics of the gen for comparison here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...4155&hl=iwc Could easily be the lighting, but the blue on gen looks darker to me...
  13. First off, I want to say thank you to everyone - I've been digging through the archives of this site for a while and learning as much as I can about this growing addiction of mine... I started off focusing primarily on Omegas, but I must confess that the Panerai watches have really been growing on me. Went to an AD over the weekend and tried on the Pam 050 (the 40mm are as big as I can go with my <7" wrist) - the watch is simply amazing... Question - the other watch I really like is the Omega Seamaster GMT (Bond Style), but have found that the dealers on these pages (which seem great) only have it with the brass movement - obviously not true to the original and readily obvious with the display back. What surprises me is that the dealers carry the new Bond version (swirl pattern on the face) with nickel-looking movement. Why wouldn't they put this movement in the display back GMT??? Thanks again for everyone's help, and I hope to commit to my first rep purchase in the near future - like many on this board, I nearly fell for the typical google-search result dealers - from what I've seen, that would have been a tremendous mistake. Unfortunately, I think this could end up being a very expensive new hobby...
