  1. Great stuff there Toadtorrent, guides like these are always fantastic to look through.

Loads of time and effort put in to this so well done.

A small word of caution to the inspired, don't even think about attemping this sort of thing without the correct tools. Make sure you have the time, the clean space and all the kit you need in front of you before you start.......

.......and the glass of wine is strictly for pro's like Toad ;)

  2. Not so much the logo as the rest of the dial,I think sssurfer is referring to the rest of silix dial not being the most accurate, best solution this side of a gen dial is to remove the logo from the silix dial, remove the logo from your existing dial and then swap them.

That way you have a accurate dial and no funny feet!

    Hope that makes sense.

  3. 001 serial number though guys, made me think it was a pic lifted from the net.

I would have thought a watch as rare as this and with a unique serial would be on the wrist of a VIP or in Panerai's bank vault.

  4. I bought a 400d a couple of months ago and am still slowly learning. A book that seems to be often recommended is Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson.

If you are serious about learning taking great pics I would pick up a copy.

Completely agree with Pugwash about the macro, extension tubes are cheap and let you get really close without spending lots of cash.

I have a pdf of the above book (not a great scan but readable) and a video that I found helpful explaining how to get into manual mode, if you are comfortable downloading it feel free to pm me.

I am surprised to say I don't miss the liveview thing, I really thought I would, I can see how it might be useful for macro work, but you just don't hold a Dslr the same way you hold a point and shoot while taking normal pics.

A friend has the E410 and its a really nice camera, the kit lenses look really good quality.

  5. I just picked up a 4th Gen P. O. from King. It was listed as powered by a 2824. I just popped it open and found a 2836.

What's the general feeling on the two movements? Is one better than the other?

    Jim

I think they are equally good Jim, one I believe is date(2824) and the other daydate(2836)

The day is unused on the PO obviously.

Interesting info on the clasp, didn't know that.

  6. My youngest daughter told me I looked like my avatar :o

To be fair I had been doing weights then had a leg operation which left me off my feet for a while, I ate the same as I did when I was training and *WOOF * instant fat git

To be fair I have lost about 2 1/2 stones since then, need to get my finger out and get back to the gym, my training partner is like the side of a house now compared with me .
