  1. Beautiful work, Rob.
  2. what...no Canadian jokes
  3. A street vendor in Shanghai sold this to a Canadian family I was recently travelling with in Shanghai...they were proud of this purchase
  4. Great to see that you are a member here You are a true gentleman and a pleasure to do business with! I recommend your company without reservation to any of our members. Best wishes in your company's continued success.
  5. This is the original hand set from the WM/MBW base. The crown and tube were already installed on this watch when I bought it directly from Watchmaster. I'm not sure if he drilled and tapped the crown tube opening.
  6. Taking the CG's down all the way until they are flush with the case is certainly one way to go for making a thin case 6542...I vaguely remember some pictures of that (NDT cases may be another option...albeit an expensive one) The reason I used the WM/MBW dial is because my genuine 1675 dial would not fit.
  7. It is MBW/WM based and it takes genuine parts.
  8. In your opinion, how did we do on our mods...since you are lucky enough to have the real deal?
  9. Even the lugs on my case are close to the sides...making the drilling a bit more challenging. Yes, having 'projects on the burner' is what makes life interesting.
  10. Jetsons, I really want to see someone make a nice 6542...I bet you could do it Looks like you can get the old 1675 case from Silix: Link As you can see, the bezel teeth are not very pronounced which is why they needed to be cut deeper. On the 'face-on view' (below), you can see the bezel outer rim is too thick...this needed to be thinned out. As you remove much of the outer material to make the bezel thinner, you lose most of the depth of its' (already shallow) teeth...thus, they needed to be recut.
  11. I completely remember Saabin's GMT...he did some unbelieable work in that shop. Is he still a member? Joe did an amazing job on this bezel (the key was to get the correct profile and teeth)...it still rotates too. The best dial version was the WM/MBW. It was unfortunately shiny with awful dial markers (as in your pic). Joe dulled the shiny background and relumed the markers with a vintagized paint scheme.
  12. A nice touch. The pointed CG 1675 did not always have the small GMT hand (most of the pictures I saw of it had the larger hand, actually...but I liked the look of this hand so much that it was worth the possible inaccuracy.)
  13. Thanks for turning me onto NDT...now I'm spoiled...and broke
  14. Jetsons- You jogged my memory. The case is actually an old Paul GMT. The dial is a WM/MBW. The hands are Classicwatchparts.com. Another component of this watch that was majorly modded was the bezel. This is the standard bezel from this case...but with major work done to it (profile ground down so it is much thinner and the teeth carved into it by hand...which is why they look imperfect on zoom magnification. Joe and I spent many days sending genuine 1675 photos back and forth to each other until we both knew what the pointed CGs and bezel teeth were supposed to look like before he started on the mods.) BTW- this case does not fit the genuine dial (a lesson I learned the expensive way.)
  15. I'm not sure...I haven't seen this one around for a while. I have an extra bezel and insert (from Classicwatchparts.com) if we need to make another one if sellers' remorse strikes
  16. Maybe I do need to send it to you so you can show me how you 'wear' the crown.
  17. You should see this this chocolate in the sun...awesome!
  18. This dial is major step up from the MBW/WM dial. I sold this watch to another member about 6months ago...he sent it to The Zigmeister to put on the NDT dial, and then he got bored of it...so I bought it back. Man, this is now a serious keeper. It is amazing how a dial can change your entire feeling about a watch.
  19. Maybe so...but you can just about make out my face in the first shot (on the crown)
  20. it's the angle...had to eliminate a big window glare. The crown, guards and datewheel are straight on and evenly spaced.
  21. This case is a standard WM/MBW, but the CGs were shaved down to the same faceted surface angles as in the genuine. [correction- the case is a Paul case...thanks, Jetsons]
  22. This version is by far the best one available. Yes, the dial is 'waffle textured'...my photo skills due this no justice.
