  1. The "Flash" anim photos they use now are so grainy .. I don't know how you can accurately judge dial print. The image itself is horrible.

Certainly in my case the grain of the photo isnt the imperative guide. Its the level of the horizontal line of the dial print itself and the significant variation from centre line vertical.

I think thats also true on Beano's but IMO his isnt as flawed as mine especially in terms of the CL vertical

  2. Thanks for that BikeMike. It starts to make sense now.

For the 088, the K series introduced ticker (front raised) crown guard and new lug pins, no change in dial. This year's (L series) came with slightly different strap (tan alligator with deployant), but the case is the same as K series. K and L series, as far as I know, were not replicated; the best rep so far is of the I series.

Polynomial Thanks as well. But being dense what is a ticker. I looked at a gen but I cant see what is raised on the CG. When you say the 'i' series would this be the ultimate that I see on sites?

    Thanks again

  3. I just looked at my DSSD on Eurotimez website.

I must say thanks to Techlogik, he was right.

My dial looks prety bad - the Rolex crown is off centre, the words are off centre and drop off the horizontal, the words over the six marker are also off the horizontal lifting left to right. The lume pearl is off centre in the triangle marker.

I have looked at the pictures head on, side on. Laptop on its side etc. And I know its not the photo angles. I also compared mine to other pics in the order list and theirs dont do this, well not as badly.

I have let Neo know and hopefully this will get sorted.

  4. As a new user I am spending a lot of my time searching the information stickies here on the forum.

Its a lot to take in but things are starting to make more sense. However when I use the advanced search option and choose my keywords then select a forum then apply search the search still takes me to the whole forum, I have followed the advice for newbies by toad torrent and his links but I really dont know what I am doing wrong.

To be honest I am really struggling to find answers to a lot of my questions and I honestly dont know what I doing wrong. Even when I use the standard search option the keywords dont seem to be taken in order by the search tool ie, I type in 'identifying watch movements' or 'How to....etc' and I get every post mentioning the word movement not 'identifying' etc. In advanced I do the same not just on those key words but others I select the sub-forum such as Movement Q&A and the search comes back with posts talking about movements in the Rolex Forum or any other forum not selectedby the advance search.

I must be doing something wrong but to be honest I have never had this sort of problem searching in other search tool engines, so is it my use of jargon? I just dont know.

Any advice would be welcome as I dont want to keep posting questions when the answers are out there. And its difficult, for all of us I am sure, trying to get involved with the forum, learn about the rep world, learn about watches and all the nuances of the movements and their applications. and in turn balance this with work and family life and Football!!

Its just so frustrating given all that, to spend an hour searching threads without finding an answer and not knowing why. Any constructive advice would be appreciated.

  5. Hi

I have been trying to find out more about the 088GMT, the gen version, I have the rep.

I have found several 088's on the web, for sale, for reference etc and I have found variants based on letter ID. Such as PAM088 GMT 'K' series and 'F' series.

I have looked on Paneristi.com for some help in identifying these variants and their differences but I cannot find it under the resources reference section.

Can any of you guys help with trying to find out what these ID variants actually mean. I wonder if its just something simple like a strap variation, its hard to be sure from the 088's I have seen and the case backs are not always available to view.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

  6. As there have been no updates to orders recently.

And the next batch is now on view (well once they sort out their web page)

It will be interesting to see other peoples latest DSSD orders for consistency and quality and the positioning of the watches for pics, in comparison to your own order, especially picking up other members comments on Dial markings and dial scriptions etc.

  7. Do some more reading...

Anyway, the DSSD Gen does NOT have AR. So that is accurate on the rep. You can have Chief do AR...there are photos I think on Vacs section showing the difference...but it isn't Gen like to do this. But if you like AR, worth the $95 to have it done with Chief, it is amazing.

Also, there were some changes from the V3 to the V5 crystal. The V5 might have slightly more distortion as you look at it from an angle due to other issues they were resolving while making it. It is nothing major unless you have them side-by-side to see the difference between the versions and Gen though. Doesn't bother me personally.

Who knows what has been done with the crystal, email Eurotimez, they will tell you, then report back to us if there have been any crystal updates. I didn't think there was though.

Reading is all I seem to do :D , being a newbie to the forum and reps. I do try to search as much as I can. I wont ask a question unless I have struggled to find an answer on my own. I understand how frustrating it can be for you more informed guys to read inane posts from us newbies. I am trying and if I do ask a stupid question then I apologise its not for want of searching that I make it.

I have already Emailed Neo, but I am yet to receive an answer but when I have one I will let everyone know.

Thanks for your answers I do appreciate your patience. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. Okay I am totally confused. So theres a v5 and a updated v5? I went to Eurotimez website and they only offered one type of v5.

Could someone help me clarify. thanks

My understanding is yes, I believe the latest is the V5.3. But certainly there is an updated version. Eurotimez have yet to update their site. But if you look in this thread there are pics of the unassembled parts these are also on the Eurotimez site again this is pointed to early in the thread.

  9. Rolex does not AR their watch crystals.

Some Rolex watches with magnifying cyclops lenses have a tiny AR spot under the cyclops. Nothing more.

Their reason is that AR gets scratched and worn, and they don't like that.

You could AR your DSSD or ANY Rolex watch crystal but it certainly would not be authentic.

As for the DSSD's "loupe effect" .. it is a very very thick crystal in the Rep and in the Gen as well. It's certified for almost four kilometers depth!! So yes, there is a lens effect. My v5 needs to be tilted +45 degrees to view this effect, however.

Thankyou, I appreciate the replies. I wasnt sure and its nice to get confirmation.

    Thanks again

  10. Hi

I am new here as you can tell! I have tried to do as much research as I can using the search tool, etc. But one issue I cant seem to resolve in this way is the DSSD watch crystal on the V5.

I cant seem to find any comments or reviews relating to its AR or the lens effect of its crystal. Has the quality of these improved with the later versions? What is it like compared to the gen? What about the latest V5.3 has this been improved from previous versions? does anybody know yet?

I suppose the question is really would you Rolex officienados, if you bought one, replace or AR the crystal?

I apologise if this has been covered but I havent had any luck finding the answer on my own unless I am having another one of my bald moments!! :D :D
