Talk a walk on 47th between 5th and 6th ave if you want to see a shitload of watches.
-
Congrats. A real beauty
-
Makes me wonder what kind of pos case is going to show up from yuki for my 5513. Best be the one he sent photos of
-
always been one of my favorites. nice job
-
thanks guys, gonna leave it and just have my watchmaker press it in
-
thanks for the tip. what type of bottle and how do you apply the pressure?
-
is it supposed to be hard? Having a helluva time getting this insert into the bezel.
They are both 150% gen on all accounts. Never had so much of a struggle with aftermarket inserts into an mbw bezel.
Any pointers?

is someone selling this dial as gen? I don't recall ever seeing an f like that on a gen dial. the either has the full bar crossing the stem, or its italic without the full bar, havent seen an example of this one, I would pass on it
-
the white you see on the red is a highlight on the bevel of the paint, but, from what I know, all gen red dials are actually over painted on white.

my genstein 5513 build is entirely ebay luck. all gen parts other than the midcase and caseback were ebay purchases for a very "lucky" price. It's mostly about patience, and, looking on different country ebay sites, there are sometimes parts or items on international ebay urls that dont show up in .com and go somewhat unnoticed.
-
despite Hess being a good seller, I wouldnt touch that thing.
-
no clicks on the vintage, bi-directional. I wouldnt drop 3k on a case, not for a 5513. So even if it's real I would say it's overpriced. And he had it on there for 3k, then changed it to 2600, and now back to 3k.

been there for months. guy's asking waaaaaay too much
-
think i'm subconsciously on a ebay witch hunt
-
Seems to be in kinda rough shape, one of the cg's is thinner than the other, no serial, decent engravings on the caseback from 66. Twinlock crown. No idea if this thing is gen, was curious what some of the others thought. Item 261163452981 if you wanna look

no worries. paypal has granted me a refund so sending this pos back to its rightful owner today.
-
Seller tried to have me send it back and then get a refund. So now I have PayPal on it. His user name on eBay is Curtis.pope
Stay away
-
inside of the clasp is gen, but from a jubilee
-
well, the seller is giving me a refund so I am calming down. I still want to stab someone
-
I broke the bad news to myself
Just wanted some confirmation. Already getting the dispute going with paypal. Second I opened it I was like, wah wahhhhhhhhhh

Are there any gen 20mm solid oyster bracelets made btw 1970 and 1991 that are not stamped? Not talking about the clasp, the 20mm link that connects to the case should have a number stamp, right?
Gonna kill this guy if I am not refunded. Please confirm my suspicions. Thanks

Yeah I concur about the reliability part. They weren't being dicks about it as much as I remember. Just didn't want the responsibility of a watch that was "tampered" with

And also, if you bring it to an ad or to rolex, they will refuse to work on it. The first rolex I bought was a datejust with a tapestry dial and a sapphire crystal. Being that is was used and I was young, I brought it to rolex on 5th ave here in NYC to have it looked at. After about 15 minutes they came back with the watch and told me that it was genuine but the crystal had been changed from an acrylic to a sapphire and that rolex would not ever service it. I returned it and bought a vintage gmt
Moral of the story is, if there is anything on a rolex watch that is not correct to the case, movement, dial, period, etc, they will not touch it, excluding bracelet. But they never said it was not a real rolex, only that they wouldnt service it because it had aftermarket or non matching parts.

Anyone have any good suggestions for a DIY way to press a crystal retaining ring on a vintage sub?
