buy phongs case/caseback/bezel and go from there

little bit more in the budget and you can go all the way with "voldemort's" dial...

Its huge, look at how much space there is on the outer edge around the tachymetric scale.

well its a composite. thats not a real bezel, its just overlayed on the image. real one may have proper scaled fonts. who cares, no lugholes

its not that the bezel is big, its the in black ring on the dial that makes the dial seem small in comparison. they did a good job on the dial but the measurements are off, so it looks unbalanced and cheap.

and as @dbane883 said, no lugholes, pass.

decent job on the dial and the crown/pushers (no cg's)

the bezel is pretty horrible. may have not looked so cartoonish had they used an ss one instead. but that thick black ring, no bueno

have to say, that is the best looking insert I have ever seen, outside of @dbane883 's ghost. Just stunning

@nanuq, have you considered pulling a Castro, and just wearing them both (although he wore a gmt and a president to have 3 timezones)

Think it would be a good look, just make one of them a random timezone, like uruguay, confuse the [censored] outta people

Love the 3 6 9, forgot about that one. Nothing new. Did a precomex 5514 but the case/caseback from phong ended up making me nuts so I sold it, did have a nice gen precomex dial though.

went gen with a 68 1675, but now considering a 6538 myself....

good to see you back ubi, been a long time. @cc33 kudos on that dial.

phong is eager to please, have no experience with mq. what I do know, is that they both require a bit of back and forth, case returning, and frustration in order to get what you're asking for. in the end, they usually come through but it's definitely something that can try on ones patience.

i wont even deal with phong anymore. not that he isnt a good guy, he is, and like I said, wants his customers to be happy. he just doesnt have control over the outcome of the products he gets for his buyers, its hit or miss and from experience, much more of a miss. so you gotta have patience and ride it out until you get what you want.

i'll be having my rep @dbane833 deal with him for me when the time comes to build one of these because I am not as level headed as my bevel cutting friend.
