  1. its a modern sub, so i assume its sapphire. where can i get a decent gasket?if gen what part number would i be looking for? thanks

I literally cannot imagine a reason to buy a gen rubber gasket.

On the other hand, when I used to run a Mitsubishi store we used to have guys come in and buy the "Mitsubishi" brake fluid for their Evos, I guess that's the same.

  2. As long as you don't damage the wheels that the hands are installed on you're fine. The tricky thing is that it seems sometimes the tube pulls out of the gear when you go after it with the hands remover.

Honestly, if it were me I'd consider trying not removing the dial/hands first.

  3. Sure you can. Just pull the bracelet apart at the end links. Get the parts you need and put it back together. Easiest way is to get two bracelets and swap parts around. I used to take the noobmariner bracelets and convert them to non-SEL all the time. Its not easy to pull them apart without marking up the steel. You need to be really careful.

That's true, but it's going to be really tough to do this on a gold-wrapped bracelet. You have to 1) not scratch through the finish and 2) find two bracelets where the color of the gold matches exactly.

  4. What do you think the differences are between the "2008" and "2010" models?

I think both of the twins (Andrew and Josh) have them, I know Stan/WBK has a 21j version, Mary at Watchinternational has them, Lay at Replicamake has them (AFAIK they're all the regular cartel version), plus BK sells his modded version, and they come up for sale fairly frequently on the for sale forums here and at the other rep websites. If you can't find one you haven't looked all that hard.

  5. All the versions of the Subs make me real dizzy and subtract my wish aspiration for that watch.

What would be a fair price for the watch?

A better way to approach it is, how much do you want to spend? Then ask what is the best sub you can get for that price. The popularity of the Submariner means that there is a version out there to fit every budget.

Honestly, you can spend $150 and get an ETA Noobmariner and have a pretty darn good rep. We obssess over little details here--99% of people don't know what "rehaut depth" means, let alone can tell.

  6. crazy low ? :animal_rooster:

i find the price expensive ?!

Well you'll notice I'm not buying it, I wouldn't pay that much for that particular watch... but the market value of the WM9 v2s has been shown over and over on the various rep forums to be closer to $700. They sell for $675-700 all the time, typically within hours.

    ...

i recommend that you contact PT in UK -

he get get you the supreme ? Sub wich is the same watch sold right now on RG but with a nicer movement and

    a lot cheaper ;)

The PT / Supreme (which is/was the same as the WM9 v1, not the v2) is a pretty nice watch. But last I heard, a "lot" cheaper was still $400+ and you don't get the WM9 dial/hands which have superlume.

The WM9 v2 has the higher crown position (doesn't matter to me, but a big deal to some) and it's a matter of opinion whether the v2 or the v3 was the better watch. However, it's basically unarguable that one or the other was the best Sub rep ever made.

stay away from the WM9 V3 version wich is pretty [censored] up :)

and dont pay this crazy prices some people asks ...

    cheers,

    Frank

WM9 is gone, so if you want one you have to pay. That's how markets work.

  7. With enough money anything is possible.

I think case-wise and stem-height-wise you should be fine. ETA hand sizes are different from the 3135 I think so you'll need to source hands.

All in all I'm guessing it'd probably be 3k worth of work at least if you're not doing it yourself...

  8. I guess it is really neither here nor there...you choose a movement that will either beat faster or slower than 19.8k.

    Yeah, it's

    5 beats per second = 18kbph

    5.5 beats per second = 19.8 kbph

    6 beats per second = 21.6 kbph

I think anyone who claims to be able to tell the difference between 5.5 and 6 beats per second is probably full of it, although I dunno... I can definitely tell 21,600 apart from 28,800 by listening to the movements

  9. If the movement is going to be swapped out anyway...forget about the 2846 and go with a 2472....exact beat as the 1570 and non-hacking. The 2472 will come with a date wheel...but just get rid of it like you would the 2846.

You can remove the hacking lever from a 28XX movement quite easily.

The 2472 does not beat the same as a 1570; the 1570 was 19,800 bph and the 2472 is 18,000. It also has a slightly different stem height than a 2836 (matches a 2824) which might not matter but it depends on the case, placement of the tube, height of the hand stack etc.
