If that really has superlume I'll buy one just for the dial...
-
Someone sure wore the crap out of it first
-
I offered to refund his money if he shipped the watch back, but I also suggested that he try handwinding it a few turns and then giving it a gentle shake and it started right up. It's his first automatic watch.
-
He got it started by winding it, I gave the same advice... the watch had a 40+ hour power reserve when I shipped it a few days ago, I don't think it needs a service.
-
You lost the gasket. Look for a thin white plastic thing that's the same size as the crystal.
-
So the WSO bezel fits the noob case?
Almost Just a hair too big. I need to figure out a permanent solution. I'm wondering if my crystal gasket might be a hair under spec in terms of thickness.
-
I have one of those on a Noob 16710 (it started as a Noob Explorer II and I added the bezel) and other than being overpriced it's a nice piece.
-
So what you're saying, is that I cannot do this job myself as I have no tools! Great. I don't get it. Either these watches take gen parts or they don't!
How were you planning to get the parts installed with no tools?
-
Nice! One of my favorite watches.
Honestly, what that pic makes me think is "man, the reps of these are pretty damn good."
-
Hello again
You do not happen to know who can supply in the EU or UK - the postage costs from the WATCHMATERIAL.COM are rather steep.
Thanks again
Gordon
:dunno:
Even with the shipping it's cheaper than the one in Freddy's post...?
You could get a $10 eBay bezel insert, they usually come with free shipping, and just use the pearl if you like, but it won't be nearly as good.
-
For the modern subs you're better off the with the watchmaterial pearl.
-
Depends what you mean by "fully" modded, but nothing less than $400. Mine with WM9 dial and hands was $650. Add a gen crystal and bezel insert and you're over $1000 easy.
-
I guess that last comment comes off a little snarky, let me rephrase.
There isn't a rep for $400 that takes "all" gen parts. Most reps will take a gen crown and tube. Many good reps can take a gen crystal. Some will take a gen bezel assembly. Nothing in that price range will take a gen movement.
-
I've been doing research for years now honestly I just want a really good dependable submariner and am not that Picky
Glad to hear it.
My basic requirements for a sub is 120 click UNI directional bezel correct markings correct 2.5 magnification all the basic stuff and eventually I'll ad original equipment to it to phase out all the replicated parts so the watch would need to be interchangable with the original modelOh, is that all?
-
Here's some advice that you don't want to hear:
Don't buy a watch yet.
Spend a month reading threads here, learning about the different models of reps. Study some pics and learn what the tells are, and decide what things bother you and what things don't.
Then, figure out which watch is the best for you.
You might find that an $80 21j Noobmariner is the best value for you--a Noobmariner is a heck of a good watch. Not as good as a BK/WM9 v3, but about 10% of the price too.
Seriously. Think about it. Do some research. Just some friendly advice.

Needs a modded pearl and the CGs are off.
If I were your kid, I would think it was incredibly cool to get a gift of a Rolex from my birth year someday. Good for you chief.
-
That's a 3-minute repair with a pair of tweezers...
-
Might even be Seagull who cloned the 2892-2.
Yup, the ST-18.
-
The 92 is of later type design and is therefor better overall but not by much.
I wouldn't agree with this statement--winding efficiency is slightly better on the 2824/36.
They're roughly equivalent. The reason why the 2892 is "perceived" to be a more premium movement is because it's thinner, and there was a time when thin watches were fashionable.
That said, we need pics/links of the watches you're looking at. IMO, there isn't an acceptable YM rep at the momement.
-
Probably not.
These are reps, so there's no way to know for sure until you try, but YM bracelets have a much longer endlink.
-
Is that the case I sent you?
-
I just installed AR'ed cyclops on mine. Look for a pictorial in a couple of days.
-
Build it yourself is probably the best option. I've been working on my GMT IIc for more than a year, and it's still not done. I doubt you'll find a fully modded piece ready to go.

Are you making the scrunchy face the model was wearing?

I'll quote myself from another thread:
