I am lucky they sent me a new crown but i'll have to have it repaired at my own costs too.
It's disturbing to receive a watch that brokes the first time tour try to use it, i'll consider that eventuality with a 20$ watch but we are talking about 350$ !!!
Not sure it's worth it, perhaps i'll go with gen now...
I think that at the end of the day they end up costing us more, these reps are over priced and hyped up with 1-1 gen like construction advert i ordered the bay so i would not need to mod it but it seems you have to expect it with regards to so called QC i am getting more and more into fantasy builds using sterile cases and gen eta movements no stress trying to get it 100 percent gen like

Just to let you know :
I understand but sending it back to china is too risky. It'll have to go through the customs 2 times.
Please ask the manufacturer for a new crown as he will change it anyway and it would cost you less in shipping. I have been discussing this issue on RWG forum and it appears to be the simpliest way for both of us.

Dear Sir
Sorry to inform you that we have no crown now ,because this watch has been sold out ,so the only way to solve the problem is send the watch back to the manufacturer ,they will fulfill the part free ,sir .So would you like to send the watch back ,you can choose the Airmail ,the shipping fee just $15 .About the resend fee ,we will responsible ,sir .
I had the same reply with my (BB movement problem) i was not prepared to risk sending it back and requested a replacement movement this was refused as they can not send a spare movement, i replied and i got only silence i could have sent them the sick movement if they wanted , i was dissapointed and had to fix the movement to my expense the buyer (has to accept this) in the rep world and returning the watch will cost the buyer not to mention again the custom risks but then again i have been down this road a few times now !

Awesome! I have a feeling you've inspired a few folks to embark on similar builds. You've inspired me!
Thank you for your kind words ! i look forward to seeing them !!!!

Although you may get a lot negative response on your plans at the end of the day it is your watch you are building and your plans or design ! you have to consider that after the build your watch will only have franken value and may be a lot less value than your 4k,on the other hand the gen parts you have available, like dial and so on will be very useful to gen owners and franken builders
You could however keep and store the parts so you can have the option of changing the watch back to gen spec or a future owner myself i would go for this option and you can always sell the parts later should you need the cash ! good luck !

I have used car paint compound and autosol paste i had a very scratched crystal on my beater 5513 and used toothpaste and it was super fast at removing scratches ! i also used a car plastic lense renovator kit which removes scratches and yellowing of car headlights (plastic type) but dont use the protective laquer afterwards it can eat into your crystal if overdone !

Great looking piece here. Great colors and dig those hands. Love the vintages with no date/cyclops. I have been sourcing parts for a GMT 6542 Pepsi build and I am contemplating having custom white dial made with no date. Be total fantasy watch but be cool to me. The one off Pan Am no date GMT....Putting that on a nato as well.
Thanks droptopman ! i am planning a GMT 6542 too pepsi and i would like to make it a no date JMB is engraving me the PAN-AM backcase i need a white dial and GMT movement custom white dial sounds great who can make them i was going to get a ingod dial but im not sure the date wheel will match up to the ETA gmt as they are made for gen rolex movements

Thanks guys ! has anyone ever matted a ceramic insert before cant be easy being a tough none scratch material ?
-
Actually i find the gen milsub insert to fussy with the all around markers i prefer the submariners clean simple look and besides this is not meant to be an exact replica it is a fantasy or homage to the milsub !!!

If you're looking for comparison dimensions for movement suitability into cases, this will help.

It just needs a 8mm athaya crown & tube now brother
Yes it does i have a helenarou rolex brevet big crown on my yuki 6538 i will put that on this watch and replace it with a athaya brevet !!!! as this watch has replaced larger bezel the athaya crown will sit close to the case and catch on the bezel
helenarou tubes stick out a lot !!

You need a military bezel, man
I wish i could find a ceramic one !!!

Awesome!!
And since Olive Drab is my favorite color this hits a home run with me
Thanks asciwhite !!! appreciate it !!!!

As a contrast to my vintage sub builds i have added another Fantasy watch to the stable a ceramic milsub big crown , i dident want to start with a ceramic sub case and shave the cgs so i decided to use a helenarou (6538) sterile case ,the helenarou coin edge bezel could not take a ceramic bezel insert so my good friend Andreas came to the rescue and milled out a bezel using a stainless steel washer
I had a vision in mind of a milsub with a ceramic green insert to go with a nato green military strap so here it is !
Specs
Helenarou case
Homemade bezel by Andreas(member georgeloiz)
Panis carved green ceramic insert
Helenarou t- dial
Helenarou milsub hands
Gen 2824-2 eta movement
Green military style strap
Helenarou stock crystal with AR
Helenarou sterile big crown (i will change to a rolex logo crown later)
Thanks to Andreas
