  1. haha your answer was a little confusing...you said you didn't cut the feet at the start but said you cut the feet at the end of the sentence?

Let me rephrase if my question wasn't clear, I have a 2783 movement, if I order a yuki dial, would I have to cut the feet to fit it? (accounting for stem alignment, etc)

    thanks again!

What i said was i purchased a dial that the feet were 1mm off the dial has nothing to do with tudor it is a 5513 dial that was made for eta movement, your dial should not need the feet cutting , what i was meaning to say that there are some dials may not align up with the movement when buying parts from different sellers you can not be sure they will marry up . these kind of builds are trial and error

having said that my flake sub has eta 2783 and fitted up the my gen spec mahand dial without cutting the feet

sorry i should have made it more clear that the dial i cut the feet off was not the tudor and 2783 movement i was giving an example of what sometimes happens !  Good Luck with your build !!!!

  2. I built mine from a 1680 I bought from Sora / Shine Watch.  I started with an A2824, but I have since installed an ETA 2824-2.  I'm on my second dial, because the first one was just too light blue.  I also added a Yuki rotor.  The insert is from ebay, and I had to shave it down to fit the bezel.  I am still looking for an engraved caseback.

    First dial with yellow lume:

My first wholesale outlet insert was too big to fit in the bezel and was damaged slightly trying to fit it i ordered a second one from them and it fit perfect , super build you have there ! i too would love a date tudor sub ! Why dont you ask member JMB to engrave your back case he made a super job of it !

  3. Look nice! I read your original thread already

quick follow up question if you don't mind.

Did you have to cut the dial feet off the Yuki dial to fit it to the 2783? I heard the dial feet position don't line up - can you confirm?

No i did not cut the dial feet because the dial is made for the tudor snowflake and fits the eta movements 2824-2 and also fit the 2783 but having said that i purchased a dial that is made for eta movement and the feet are 1 minute off so i have to cut them !

  4. Oh and i almost forgot the trusty 1680 case will not fit a gen size dial which is 26mm we had to make a mod by making a thin stainless steel ring to seat the dial as the opening was also 26mm (meaning that the dial would fall through )

you can see the ring under the rehaunt in this shot ! but when viewing the watch face on it just looks like part of the rehaunt

cartel cases are usualy made with 29mm dials

  5. This is my trusty 1680 into blue snowflake build ! my dial is a mahand from ebay and it fitted my 2783 , 2783 and 2784 the movements are identical apart from one part but i think that the 2784 is a higher beat , check out my blue snowflake build post

this shot shows the insert i heated it up on a gas stove for short time

this dulled down the shiny insert and gives a matt finish

the other photo has the old insert that was replaced

  6. Well let me see how my 5513 case will be finished its in shipping at the moment ! the crown guards i will shave by hand if required ,thanks for a great review i purchased a super eta 5513 dial from a rwg member and im looking forward to fitting this in the yuki case !!!

  7. Most (not all) aftermarket cases are assembled from off-the-shelf rep parts, which is why they often get so many obvious details wrong & also 1 of the reasons their prices are so ridiculous. In some cases, as mistakes are pointed out, the offending part gets exchanged for another part (often another rep part containing a different set of mistakes). It just seems to be the nature of the biz.

    Thank god for the modders!

  8. Unfortunately, the caseback is laser etched, which easily/instantly IDs it as a fake. Yuki's caseback is also flat & beveled like a modern Rolex, which is incorrect for a 'bubbleback' like the '42, which was more rounded & bevel-less

Yes after looking at the photos of the gen you are right about the backcase i dident notice the laser etching i wonder why they did not fit a dome back cb like there 5513 case would have been better !!

  9. Has anyone tried the ingod44 6538 case. Looks interesting and the price is better than yuki's.

I had swore that I would take a break from buying watch parts but the idea of a gen movement 6538/5510 is keeping me up. I like by dg2813 movement version but for some reason I keep going to yuki's site.

    Make it stop.

I have two 6538 yuki builds and in the post a 5513 strangely i do like my other cheaper cases

  10. I actually may buy a gen 2 case just to get a bezel. Or ask if anyone has a later tiger retainer ring and bezel to go on the case I have.

I know I want a better early sub than I have now. I think I would like a gen movement but need to find a good price on either a 1030 for a 6536/8 or a 15xx for a 5508/10. Not picky between 65xx and 55xx as the appearance is about the same. I guess parts for the 1030 movement are getting scarce so i think that pushes me more towards a 55xx.

If I am not going gen movement I think the new style tiger case is best bang for the buck as a 5510 dial (27.6mm) should slot right into a tiger case (27mm opening and 28mm dial size).

In fact it makes me wonder if these are modeled after a 5510 case.

27.6mm you should be fine !!

  11. When you say the tiger has a gen mounting do you mean the early style with a ring over the crystal and what looks like a bent up paper clip in the bezel to hold it on? Or is it more like the later subs with a ring, tension spring and bezel that locks on the base of the ring. I have a tiger case with the later but if they have changed to the actual 6538 style bezel, I may have to get another one. Trying to decide between doing a mid grade big crown (modded tiger case, yuki dial, low beat eta movement) or go all the way to a gen movement based 5510. Yuki has the case for a 15xx based 5510 but the dial is only a one line. I figure a tired 15xx based datejust can be had fairly cheap (particularly after selling off the gen dial, case, hands, etc). Yuki case and dial and end up with a near gen for around 2k.

    Hi Crwilsn

The bezel is held on with the hexagon shaped spring and the crystal is held on with a retainer ring , i would go for the yuki my first yuki with gen movement cost me 2500usd the tiger case only takes a 28mm dial gen size are 26mm and most aftermaket like raffles and helenarou are 29mm i have big crown builds with cases helenarou (a very well made case but needs modding ) two yuki cases one raffles time one cartel and the tiger what i like about the tiger is the thicker bezel but if getting a 29mm dial best is to get a case that fits this dial and then find a better bezel

helenarou case cheaper that yuki but you have to replace the saphire crystal with a clark crystal helenarou can do for extra 20usd i think full engraving and for 44 usd has a very good brevet crown the helenarou bezel is brass chrome plated like a gen ,good luck !!!!
