  1. Is this something new - or just an old model?

Is it the old shallow rehaut, thin case 5513 sub case version with a new 'no date dial'?

Certainly looks like it has potential for something, cant wait to see and hear more :)

Sneed - do you plan to do the GMT mod to the 2846 movement yourself - are parts readily available for this conversion?

These old 5513 engraved cases are excellent :

    - slim,

    - lot of CG volume,

    the only thing :

    - to large internal rehaut diameter,

    - false construction, wire spring style for bezel retaining

this is easy to correct, adding a rehaut internal ring to reduce the diameter and allow the use of gen specs dials,

here some pics of one of these cases I am working on :

    case01.jpg

    case02.jpg

    case03r.jpg

    case04.jpg

I adapted the WSO bezel and a gen tube and 6mm crown,

alway the same problem, impossible to use a 5.3mm crown for cosmetic reasons

  2. informations for the jubilee source :

Parts used to build these 1675 like Asian/ETA movement hands, slim and flat case backs, jubilee bracelets come from Rafflestime

the quality of bracelets is variable, depending batches,

same with Ingod, for example : I got a crapy 1675 dial, I had to have it refinished, Ingod sells gen folded jubilee for less than 300usd. Its a lotery, you can get something good, but could be also trashy

  3. Wow a case set at $1450..............it should look more than great RA !!!!! No disrespect RA - love all your work on these but that is one heck of a build budget to kick off with?

Archie - stick with the Josh 1655 and mod it - a rep, is a rep, is a rep! Or pick up a Gen watch for $4000!

no problem Sir, and I complete agree with you,

The Yuki 1675 case is out of stock, it was 550usd + 50usd custom engraving.

On Yuki photos it looks fine : slim, with a 5.3mm crown, and a slim flat caseback.

    http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6924997/6964737.htm

they say "in stock" but tell me by mail "the machine is broken" I will mail again, maybe when it was the night in Hong Kong and the cleaning guy in the office answered to me

My idea was to fly over the cartel 1655 and the WSO option.

It was to go with a complete and accurate 1675 case and dial from Yuki and a 30usd DG3804 movement. The only complication was the correct sized and open 6/9 DWO

    Bracelets are easy to find...

    Thats was the idea

  4. o.k, I just check,

Phong has now 1675 case sets at 1450,00 usd... (nada yesterday...)

Yuki was the same at 550,00 usd, wtf ??? Yuki machine is brocken....

sounds like Phong has a new source...

This being said, on pics the Phong 1675 case set looks great, and some details are significant, this case is accurate !!!

  5. I just got a midcase from Phong with engravings. A bezel assembly from here:

    http://stores.ebay.com/VINTAGE-MODERN-PARTS-WATCHES?_trksid=p4340.l2563

He Asks 350usd for bezel set ! but i offered him 200usd and he accepted. Gen crystal fits perfect, gen insert had to be shaved ...

Josh 1655 case is crap for a 1675, totally wrong even for a 1655...

    Here's pics

    Cheers

    P.

    o.k, very good indeed !

but could you please be more precise about the origin of the case -which looks like an original- as phong doesn't have 1675 design case sets at this moment,

    thanks !

  6. Funny story :

WSO is THE ONLY ONE RIGHT NOW TO SELL the complete bezel assembly, no other way, 35usd express shipping to France, 30 days to wait the express... 38 euros customs fees at arrival in France,

Are you sure you want I build a 1675 for you ??? to expensive ??

    The strange story :

I wanted to test another way to build 1675 : the Yuki watch case... looks good, slim, 5.3mm crown; etc. etc. cost 550usd

I asked and got an email : not in stock, finish, the machine is brocken...

    lol,

Curiously, no 1675 case available from NDT nor from Phong, so for me, it means the only one machine to fabric 1675 cases for Yuki, Phong and NDT is brocken...

  7. pay tickets to fly in China, in Bangkok, in Hong Kong....

To walk into a shopping mall ? buy a rep watch ? supposed to have the right Rolex specs ?

Buy a gen, its cheaper, you will avoid the terrorist risk and aicraft crash, and also to be screwed with Chinese...

    Its always the same problem,

    seriously,

anyone here is able to source 5, 10, 25, good Sub/SD/GMT cases ? or more ?

if anyone here has a source for 5512/13, 1675, 1680 case sets, no one only, no "may be" or "wait I think I have a source"

    100 pieces to start

then, we could start a great adventure here, on this board, and make lot of people happy at reasonable prices

    I dream......

  8. Doesn't the 16750 series use a 6mm crown and have <acronym title='Crown Guard'>CG</acronym>'s that are closer together?

the 1675 and 16750 are exactly the same watches :

    same very slim case,

same no clics bi-directional bezel construction,

    plastic cristal,

    5.3mm crown for both

the only difference for the 16750 is the 3075 movement, 28.800bph, date rapide, and with a differend hand stack.

Note : like the 1675, the GMT hand on the 16750 cannot be set via crown

2 kind of dials for the 16750 :

first issue : matt dials OYSTER PERPETUAL (exactly same as 1675) ,

second issue : enamel dials with ringed dots and OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE; Both dials are GMT MASTER only.

  9. I have an exotic wood cabinet full of 6263 and 6265 for sale -built by myself- , just need the time to take pix with my pedigree tag and I think I have to pay a contribution to get the right to sell here

Unfortunately I play in the kindergarten and my daytos are just basic DW cases and 7750 movements, in fact, exactly like Spin stuff, not inferior, not better, just same stuff :)

  10. here in Paris I pay 130 euros for a refinishing or adding text , plus 180 euros for a photo/engraving plate if the shop doesn't have the right design or fonts for the considered dial,

also, if the dial is identified as a rep dial , the shop call the police

  11. Did you used a 1655 case for this build?

    Thanks

    YES, absolutely,

lot of cuts to re-design ther CG area and global case thickness,

I have observed and copied the gen 1675 case profile,

I told already, this 1655 case is not 1/1, the only 1/1 is you can fit a Rolex specs plexi and bezel ring, that's all. The global case design is complete off, just a basic CNC case cut program used for many other Rolex rep cases,

  12. Rolex 1675 GMT Master special edition for The UAE and the Sultanate of Oman

This is a special build for a member who is a great gen and franken Rolex GMT collector.

These watches came with a specific blue bezel insert reserved for the Peruvian and Italian Air Force and also UAE Air Force pilots.

Some of UAE dials had white or red dial writings and came with blue or pepsi insets,

I agreed with the customer option and advices, the pepsi insert was the best cosmetic choice for this watch, according with the armorial bearings on the dial.

    Specifications :

    Background watch / accessories :

    -1655 Explorer II case

    -Asian DG3804B - 21600bph true GMT movement

-YukiWatch refinished UAE dial and hands

    -WSO GMT complete bezel assembly

-Gen blue insert from my personal collection, used for pictures

    -Clark 25-116 cyclop

    -Gen Rolex springbars

-Gen Rolex Jubilee bracelet / gen endlinks

Next photo you can see the new case design after metal cuts, especially the CG area. The cartel 1/1 1655 case is complete out of specs but has enough material to be re-designed.

The cartel called 1655 1/1 has nothing 1/1, except the fact you can stack a Rolex specs cristal and rotating bezel assembly. The case design has been cut using a common CNC machining program as this case is used for many other Rolex models. The case is to much thick, as lot of Rolex reps.

If you compare gen Rolex watches you will notice gen vintage cases like Sub 5512, 5513, explo 1655, 16570 and GMT 1675 and 16750 have very slim cases.

Anyway, this watch actually is the best background to be used to build a 1675/16750.

    Note :

the 1655 and the 1675/16750 watches used the same case. The 1675 was a 1655 with a rotating bezel and a different dial.

    The lume :

    the customer specs were :

old tritium, but I need to read during the night !

Here we have dead tritium and strontium aluminate powder mixed with an acrylic medium. Not really easy to apply and control,

Strontium particles will give a new life to dead tritium. This mixture exposed to a strong light during 30 minutes is able to bright more than 20 hours,

Classic Tritecs products contain a little strontium. This product is hard to get, it is used in aviation technologies for flight instruments and cockpit equipments and used with retro-lighting technics

  13. one thing is sure :

today, may 5 2012, small triangle hands visible on 1675 are aftermarket. Yes, even those on Sotheby's auctions,

    One thing is sure :

EBay sellers selling small triangle GMT hands are gen Clowns & Myckeys for sure ! The only thing which is gen is the rust.

  14. a little warning - the DG movement is totally completely absolutely shitty - i would op an other moment - but that's just me - a lot of other guys love the movement ;)

pretty good but effectively could be problematic,

it depends batches, I have one with a 50 hours of power reserve but unstable, another one which stops after 24H if I don't wear the watch, but it is at -3 sec/day

    I notified and identified 3 problems :

    1) extra fragile and messy keyless works : the stem has to be removed with crown absolutly at the WINDING POSITION

    2) from one movement to another, lot of play inside the cannon pinions, this provocs the seconds hand hits the minutes hand randomly. I have found a solution, using seconds hand with a longer sleewe and stack it a little higher. Those seconds hands from Yuki hand sets are good, just need to cut the extra long sleeve and tighten to fit the seconds hand axis

3)when setting the time DO NOT go reverse at midnight when the date has just changed,

    base ordered from josh

now just hunting new dw (waiting on tc date wheel )

bezel have an idea for 2 one "used" and a new one for pics

gen glass (anyone know the code of one that will fit )

    gen crown and tube

Now Josh know that the maker has a 1655 batch with wrong date wheel, normally now Josh send QC pics with the date window showing an open 6 or 9

Rolex ref for the plexi is cyclop 25-116

for the tube and crown, warning those from 1655 are 5.3mm as the case of the 1655 is the same as the 1675/16750series, the 5.3mm crown looks small on the rep 1655

for cosmetic reasons personally I use the 16570 explo II 6mm crown

    ref tube : 24-5330-0 ref crown : 24- 603

  15. RA to get you to build one do i need to source the parts all in a oner and send to you i quite fancy something vintage to add to my collection

sorry, archie, I forgot to pm, to much busy

you source all your components, you tell me your specs and I build for you what you want

  16. I measured a 1675 (serial 555xxxx with 1575GMT hack):

case thickness at 3 o'clock measuring at outside edge with caliper pushed against inner bezel and caseback...4.6mm

    thickness at 9 o'clock...4.3mm

    at 6 and 12...4.35mm

overall thickness...12.8mm in center of crystal -- 13.35mm at magnifier

thickest part of lugs on outside edge of 3 o'clock side about half way between the crown and springbar holes...5.0mm +/- at both ends (hard to get an exact measurement)

on the other side...4.9mm +/- (hard to get an exact measurement)

    caseback od...35.45mm

    inner bezel (crystal bezel) od...36.03mm

    between lugs...20.02mm both ends

Watch is in good condition, all genuine.

Pics ? blue prints ? it would help

Anyway, with or without mesures, Chinese reps Rolex cases are usually to thick and out of specs,

    This is a gen

    Gen 16750 profile :

    16750profil01a.jpg

For me, the most important spots to sculpt a 1655 rep case to convert it in a "looks like" gen 1675/16750 copy :

1 - the thickness at this spot, which is VERY THIN for gens,

2 - the crown diameter, this is easy and an evidence, here its a gen 5.3mm, we are vrong with reps,

3 - very important cut angle of the bottom crown guards area

4 - the curve of the top and bottom case end profile

A palmer (micrometer) instrument is better than a caliper, but, the goal is to get a "looks like"

imho, a list of 1/100 of millimeters mesurements is not the best way to work,

skills and CREATIVITY are more important than rigidity of basic secondary education

  17. Thanks to all for your interest

I will post another photo to show where are the mesurement key spots, in fact this case is very easy to mod, the CG side has more material than on the other side.

I am quite sure this case is a generic background used for many other watches, just a question of machining operations and case ref engravings

Great work JJ these cases look amazing, you are truly a master at what you do :)

Soon, same punishment for you mate, :) got the dial yesterday, he is good,
