    Was just browsing today...

Is this a fantasy watch? I couldn't find it on the Panerai site, and I have never heard anything about it.

Was thinking maybe it was a half-a$$ version of the 222?

I guess a second question in the same vein...Do the dealers just use up extra parts to make not-even-close-to-accurate reps, or maybe do they guess at what will be released and try to be the first to roll it out?

    Showing my ignorance here. Thanks

  2. but for further thoughts, you need a very very good 201A logo dial.

    the rest is simple.

standard case, v - crown-guard, palp crown or similar, davidsen caseback, hands, non ar sapphire,

    movement etc.. etc...

original gen logo buckle, you can buy it over an ad from panerai, i've talked with panerai = euro 100,--

watchmaker work, and then copper coating and after fine-gold plating, reassemble.

  3. hahaha... we have a uncle family... :p

    that will be enthralling...

i did'nt know that a 201A in gold was produced.

this is great...so i can make this model as one of my next project.

the 140 was always cruising around in my head. i've talked many times about the 140 dial with a local dial factory.

basically it would be possible to manufacture this dial with a real carbon plating, costs ca. euro 350 - 400,-- for a dial,

and i would have to deliver the markers and numerals.

the 201A is easier for a first gold pam and it's pre-vendome.

so... i will look around for the single ingredients.

  4. for a long time i played with the idea to make a case in gold.

    a local galvanic company can make this with a 1000 fine-gold plating ( 50 micron ).

    in all gold colors.

previously the stainless steel case must be coated with copper for a better bonding.

the price for a case is very reasonable.

The original "Gold Logo" was not solid gold but rather gold plated. The plating was done by Vacor AG, the same company who did their Pre-V PVD work.

I had thought to make it solid gold, but it seems too costly. I could always start with a 140 case and mod it to fit the Logo movement/dial. Maybe a custom "Logo" dial to fit an auto movement would be best?

Below you'll find a link to Vacor, they do great work, check them out.

  5. it's very simple made by a cabinetmaker.

same wood with original finish and same hinges and magnetic catch like the original box.

the brass and nickel-plated oval-shaped plate with the logo and panerai can be made from my engaver.

the velvet inlay made by a tailoring.

    cabinetmaker costs per hour = euro 60,-- ( i'm in discussion )

plate costs engraver complete = euro 70,--

    velvet inlay costs = ? ( i have to check )

    cheers

  6. my watchmaker reworked always these crown-guard holes.

    i've bought a lot of this stainlaess steel screws - 2,0mm diameter, 4,0mm thread-length, cylindric-head.

the case-hole-depth is ca. 4,0mm. the standard rep screws have a thread-length of 3,0mm.

so, my watchmaker shortens the new screws to 3,5 - 3,8mm thread-length and rework the cylindric-head to a round-head.

my problem with the little screws is forever eliminated.

  7. you can disassemble the sub-chrono gears ( 12 and 6 position ), and you can them assemble again.

there is only a function if you press the chrono pusher.

for my pams with only a small second at 9 position, my watchmaker disassembled the both sub-dial gears.

    so no problems

    rolf

So either way (shortened or removed), once they are altered those functions can't be reinstituted at a later date?

    Thanks,

    B

  8. yes.

my watchmaker don't disassembled the movement, he keep the sub-chrono posts inside and shortens them.

i don't need my gen movements for other possibilities.

    rolf

I know VJ 7750 and 7753s can be used without utilizing all of their funcitions, but does removing the chrono posts prevent you from being able to reinstall them in the future?
  9. crowns with spring mechanism and case-tube can manufacture only one local factory here.

they are manufacturer of watch crown assortments. and this factory is here the last one.

and no other crown factory here. dying branch.

i have checked the possibilty to get this special crown, but no chance. they know all crown types.

so... without a spring mechanism can manufacture all cnc-fine-mechanics companies.

    also the case tubes.

  10. dear kruz,

of course i take no tripod with the maco lens shots.

i make this kind of shots only with hand in different positions.

it's more creative and it gives more different light effects..

all gen pvd models in the shadow range are black and in the sun range anthracite/grey.

thats the same with my pvd models.

    rolli

    Rolli-

Needless to say your watches look great. I can never tell from photographs but to my eye you have matched colors and finishes to models very well. Am I right or is it because they are photographed in different lighting, etc.. To my eye the finish on the Pre-V looks exactly like ti.. irrespective of what it is and right for the 28 project.

    -Kruz

  11. you can get any kind of pvd color in connection with any kind of bead blasting.

    there is no standard.

but you need a blasting expert and the different bead materials.

my blasting and pvd expert in my local company is a goldsmith.

i've got from her a lot of know how.

so.. of course it's right, that the blasting in connection with different basic materials and different steps

influenced the end result of the pvd color.

for me i have decided the dark anthracite pvd coating in connection with step1 - mixed granulate bead blasting

and second step - glass/ceramic bead blasting. then pvd coating dark anthracite.

but you can get also a black pvd coating with only glass / ceramic bead blasting.
