last year i've got a bunch of prototype palp crowns beside the regular palp crowns.
i use the prototype crowns mostly for first pam projects.
and when i keep this pam i sometimes change the crown to a new regular crown.
rolli
Stunning piece...but the edges of the palp crown look a little rounded...were his Ti crowns different from the SS. -
hi all,
here is the pam040 titanium with strapmasters last edition 2006
titanium case with gen sapphire: andrew
001A dial, hands: davidsen
( this dial is much better for the pam040 )
davidsen superlume with tritium color is excellent
titanium caseback: davidsen
( a blank titanium caseback will get the correct pam040 engraving yet )
crown: palp crown
movement: gen unitas 6497
strap: strapmasters last edition 2006 ( not anymore available )
mods and all parts assembled by my watchmaker,
anti reflection coating removed of the sapphire,
h3 cannon pinion installed,
stem adapted to the crown,
crown-guard adapted to the case,
lever adapted to the crown,
enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ask davidsen
rolli
Hi. I've got a PAM 063 with lello DW, a new Chief Cyclops on the way, and palp crown. Only thing I need to finish is a proper movement. I've got my eye on a 2893-2 to swap into my PAM063. Only thing is, Ziggy says the GMT hand needs to be replaced. Any ideas where I could get a proper 2893-2 GMT hand for a pam063? -
my watchmaker did install the davidsen 088 sapphire / gasket in a standard 088 case. fits perfect and looks amazing.
yes it is a sandwich sapphire. the date mag sits in the lower crystal.
rolli
How good is the date section on this watch? Is it the correct font and is the magnification reasonably good. I assume it is a sandwich crystal. -
today my watchmaker did install the davidsen 088 spphire with large date mag and gasket in a standard 088 gmt case.
i've got also several gaskets to check, result... fits prefect. looks amazing.
rolli
Out of interest, why send a PM instead of posting here? Also, the poster will know you sent him a PM, so why tell us you sent him one?By the way, from what I can gather, DSN's crystals may only fit DSN cases, but I'd love a definitive answer on that one.

davidsen crowns/tubes quality is really good.
one vintage pam has already the crown, for the other vintages they have to be built-in as well.
and for the different radiomirs i've just bought the crowns.
rolli
-
all vintage and radiomir reps have the same cosmetic problem.
the tube sits not deep enough in the case.
my watchmaker did rework the distance ring ( the pressed ring on the screw tube between the crown and case ) a bit smaller and shortened the tube,
that brought the crown nearer to the case, and he reworked the crown shape to a vintage style shape.
this model on the davidsen image has a tube with a conic shape part. the half length of the tube is conic, and then comes the thread for the crown.
you have to rework this tube shape with an engine-lathe,
so that the tube can sit deeper in the case.

the gen 036 is a brown dial TswissT model with tritium indices.
rolli
Does the dial that you selected now make this a "fantasy" model? Just curious. i see it say "T swiss T" and the old dial said "L swiss L". I am still new at this and trying to figure out what is closer to gen etc. Thanks

thanks guys.......
i've bought this pam036 last year february, and 6 weeks ago i've got the new upgraded dial / hands from davidsen.
for 4 weeks i have checked which strap has the best long time effect for this pam. it shouldn't be a boring combination.
i have a very large image archive of all gen pam models in subfolder. almost with all strap combinations with each pam.
so i can always check the different inspirations, and when there is no strap in my collection, i buy it.
a pam may not look boring.

it's the same pre-vendome style buckle without logo lettering.
no not the same as for mario paci used.
like the original buckle.
in fact simona hit the original pav color.
buy and check it out. you will be surprised.
rolli
That's really quite a good price.....the buckle looks very nice - is it the same as the Mario Paci / OEM Pre-V??Love them all Rolli....you have great taste!

hi bruce,
yes i wear all my straps upside down.
the pav colors are really amazing. i think i will buy more of these straps from simona.
also with the steel buckle. the measurements and the hole positioning are absolute perfect.
very comfortable and important is it's not too thick.
rolli
That's an awesome combo. I had no idea Simona had a pav series...great, more $$$ I'm going to have to spend. I just picked up one of her gators for my 210.Love that 195 though...care to share the dealer? Also, do you wear all of your straps upside down...lol

for a watchmaker is it very easy to remove the old lug wires and to manufacture new with springbars.
maybe in your town is a goldsmith with a welding machine. then everything is very simple.
rolli
Thanks for your reply rolli. I have seen your pam gallery (and the two 3646 pics with the springbar between the lug) with great interest. your watches are first class ! Congratulations ! -
60mm is too big
rolli
I'm looking at a gen Revue Thommen 7750 chrono that is 44mm without crown.I don't have anything this big. Looking for opinions, is 44mm too big for a chrono?
The ref no: is 17060.6537
Thanks

Pam 028 Brushed Steel Pvd Case - With A New Pvd Coating
in The Panerai Area
Posted
for all pam028 brushed steel pvd case owners.
this is an order from a rwg member.
here is the result:
workings by my watchmaker.
1. step: case disassembled in single parts,
2. step: crown-guard and lever adapted to the case and palp crown,
3. step: case tube and crown o-ring gaskets removed,
4. step: little crown-guard screws screwed in the case, ( protected threads )
( long spindle-screws for the strap attachment wasn't delivered )
4. step: each single part wrapped in tissue paper and plastic bags,
workings by the pvd company.
1. step: removing of the old pvd coating with a special leach procedure,
2. step: granulate and glass/ceramic bead blasting,
3. step: special dark anthracite pvd coating in connection with special machine adjustments,
note: over the time the pvd color will be darker by the finger grease, you get the same effect with watchmaker silicon grease,
