the minimum of gold plating is 5 micron when copper is the basic plating.
my first gold plating is 5 micron 750 fine gold, and only on the areas for the sapphire,
bezel, case tube inside, case and caseback threads.
all visual parts got the additional 25 micron 750 fine gold plating.
there can be only a copper/gold chemical action, when the gold plating is less than 5 micron.
the copper absorbed the poor gold plating.

But when if you want a gold finish, you must:1) copper plate it and THEN
2) gold plate it.
Hmm...There

please read the main page.
1.) copper plating,
2.) 5 micron 750 fine gold plating,
3.) some areas on the parts to cover with special varnish,
4.) final plating 25 micron 750 fine gold,

How did you get the good crown and cg plated in the same color as the case. I cant figure out how thats possible, unless you replated the case aswell?is deadly beautiful for sure, and if you start offering this watch to other members, ill take one:-)

ok...i didn't read correctly.
my fault..........
that means the gen movement fits 1:1 with 088 case, or with modification ???

dear friends,
thousend thanks for the kind words.
of course i'm looking always for a new challenge, thats my addiction.
after i've seen the result of the 201A gold, promptly grew the idea to make also the 201A in steel.
next week i will calculate the complete price for all these workings.
the most tricky work was to cover the case parts with the special varnish, that nerved a bit.
but the result is amazing.
normally a gold watch is not my thing, but this pam with its technical design and in gold, thats really outstanding.
further have a great time here on board
and a lot of greetings to all

hi all,
here is the 5218-201A logo gold with simona pav edition black with logo buckle:
details:
case with gen sapphire: andrew,
dial, handset, caseback: davidsen,
crown-guard: v-crown-guard,
crown: t_crown,
movement: gen unitas 6497 with cote de geneve and h3 cannon pinion,
strap: simona pav edition black without buckle,
logo buckle: purchased from a rwg member,
modifications:
original 5218 strap attachment systems, screw/tube system: new manufactured with a tech. drawings by a local fine-mechanic company,
and reworked and adapted to the case-lug holes by my watchmaker,
( i have two original gen 5218 screw/ tube systems as sample )
workings by watchmaker:
crown-guard and lever adapted to the case and crown,
crown-guard and lever polished and satined,
crown-guard disassembled in single parts,
new crown-guard screws manufactured with a longer thread and round-head,
both left case lug-horn threads drilled out to a 1,8mm diameter hole,
case disassembled in single parts,
case completely polished,
sapphire ar coating removed,
all single parts went to a local fine gold company for plating:
before plating, crown got a stem for the protection of the thread,
crown-guard screws were screwed in the case for the protection of the thread,
1.) basic plating all single parts: 5 micron copper for a better bonding of the gold,
2.) 750 fine gold plating 5 micron,
after the second plating some parts of the case had to be covered with a special varnish from the gold company, done by my watchmaker,
( bezel inside part, case part for the bezel and sapphire/gasket, case thread for the caseback, thread of the caseback,
case tube inside for the o-ring, lever-pin-shaft, inside-part of the crown-guard for the lever, left-right side of the lever, crown inside part for the o-ring )
3.) all case parts went again to the gold company and got the main plating, 750 fine gold 25 micron,
all varnish covered parts removed with a ultrasonic bath, done by the gold company,
final workings by my watchmaker:
all case parts assembled including o-rings greased, tested and adjusted,
enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've asked the seller how much mm diameter has the screw head.
he replied 1,6mm diameter has the screw head.
but the right rep horn hole has 1,8mm diameter. the left horn has the thread and has to be drilled out to 1,8mm hole.
