all these pics show the gen 088.
rolli
Is this your modded watch with the DSN dial or the standard rep dial or is it a gen pic? I'm lost here, lol. -
i will think about it whether the 088 gets the v-crown-guard or not.
important is, it have to be my taste.

gen 1st serie crown-guard:
gen current serie crown-guard:
Rolli, we are dying for your pics..By the way, does the 88 G-series need a V-CG as well? I thought they were only supposed to be correct for pre-A and post H-series Historic and non-chrono Contempory models.

see...... it works when you buy a correct camera......

yes thats true, it's correct. the gen 088 has both versions.
but davidsen 088 dial is matte and looks like a bit greyish under the sapphire, and has a too light silver subdial.
the marker and numerals are smaller and too greenish than the standard rep dial.
the standard 088 dial has a silky black surface and pastel / creme marker / numerals.
for me very nice.
the best combination for me is:
standard: case, dial, movement,
davidsen: new upgrade handset, sapphire with large date mag, date wheel with bold font, new g-serie caseback ( is thicker as the standard caseback ),
mods - possible: v-crown-guard, palp or turk-crown,

Funny, there seem to be 2 different dial versions of the gen.DSN's dial has the'12' in the middle of 'L SWISS MADE L', while the regular rep dial has the L SWISS MADE L under the '12'.
Both pics are gens.

from which ti model is your davidsen ti crown-guard ??
rolli
The CG i used for this mod was originally a DSN Ti CG. I had to widen the screw holes and get them more to the side. Tricky without heavy machines! Then I used a belt sander to get the rough shape of the topside, rest was done with sanding paper. For cutting the CG feet (important for tight lock-down) i used a Dremel and sanding paper.I wasted one CG on the way to get the holes right so I would say that this is not an easy DIY mod without serious tools.

it looks much better.....
i did it also with a thick steel crown-guard in connection with a titanium case.

@rolli: your watch looks a hybrid. If you tell me which numbers are engraved on the caseback, I might tell you more. -

you can order all landa straps in all measurements which you prefer.
my order was in 24/24 - 120/75 and with a thickness of 3,8mm.
surprisingly i've got it in exactly these measurements.
normally the handmade straps from other strapmakers are not exact enough.

hi mates,
i'm pleased that it's your taste too.
julien landa has a very interesting handmade strap collection,
and it's very creatively made.
after the first email of my questions and order for a customized strap, i've already got it after 8 days.
he's a artist painter, that's why he has a great feeling for colors and details.

i'm for panerai: lifestyle is everything.......thats a full time job......
;)

I've only read the first few posts and will now post my black & white views on watch brands vs. personality before I get biased by the other posts.
Rolex: 'Look what I can afford!'
Breitling: 'I'm a tough and no-nonsense guy'
Omega: 'Yes my dear, that is a SS watch under my tuxedo'
Tag Heuer: 'My watch is famous and can be seen in many advertisements'
IWC: 'I'm a rational thinking, sophisticated and structured person'
Panerai: 'Lifestyle is everything'
FM, UN, Cartier: 'I'm different'
Breguet, VC, Patek, Chronoswiss, Lange: 'I have an exquisite taste for the finer things in life and I can afford it'
Graham: 'When I was young, the other guys always made fun of me. Now I have the biggest watch of all'
U-Boat: 'Look at that guy wearing the Graham. He still doesn't get it!

A question about vintage 3646 straps
in The Panerai Area
Posted
the vintage 3646 reps have no welded lug wires. they are only pressed in.
yes they have spring bars.
on my gallery you can see the 3646 with welded lug wires as modification.
