  1. Correct; Fliplock would be the kind of clasp on the 93150 and the sort... With the flip over lock...

Not 100% correct....as I mentioned, I have a GEN 1675 with oyster bracelet....my old man purchased it brand new in 1976 from the Mayor's Jeweler AD in Miami.....it came with a 78360 oyster bracelet and 580 end links....and non-fliplock clasp....exactly like this

  2. and I thought I was alone out there.....having like 40 watches between GEN & REP....and parts/movements to build another 8 watches....I seem to buy parts, just cause it looks like a good deal...I know eventually I may not even get around to building the damn thing :bangin:

You know you are in deep trouble when you look in the box....value only half of the pieces that you never/hardly ever wear - but would never sell........add this value to ALL of the multiple sets of parts you have, for those builds that never quite seem to get finished .....and it EQUALS the value of a GEN grail............that you have cherished for years, but convinced yourself you cannot possibly afford!

Oh dear, I'm in DEEP! :whistling:

  3. because many of these dealers are just "sellers" of watches for the factories that make them...these guys like Josh and Andrew are just the marketing front end...they do not stock parts....

yeah, they may be able to have the factory send you a case set, a strap or bracelet.....but not a movement, or a crown or a dial or crystal......it's not happening cause it's too much of a hassle for them.

if you want a crystal....most likely you have to purchase a whole case set.....that's if they sell the case set...or get from parts guys like Jackson Tse

  4. very true...these guys are just the distributors....as Andrew told me...they do provide a bit of feedback to the factories...but in the end, they have to live with whatever the factories put out...they are the sellers.....at least that's what he told me...

another thing to think about is that these factories may put out a batch of 1000 pieces....and until they are all sold, they do not consider any type of modifications.....if they even consider it at all.

these other distributors like Tony, Lay, Andrew, Josh, etc....they get whatever comes in...tack on their profit and handle the hosting, shipping and limited customer service.

Like most it doesnt bother me either but I do have an LH to go in it so its a non issue :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Also I think Josh is inclined to answer like that as he wouldnt want anyone waiting when they can buy now !! ;)

  5. Won't heat mess up the AR? And when do you know you have enough heat...does the cyclops just slide off?

There are two ways depending on how it is mis-aligned,

A remove the crystal and refit it

B Remove the loupe and re-glue it on

Both are fairly simple with the right tools and experience if it is a sapphire crystal

A invilves removing the caeback, stem and movement ect and pressing out the crystal with a crystal press and then pressing it back in

B involves heat to melt the glue that holds the loupe on and re gluing it with UV activated glue

  6. someone with a good staking tool set, patience and knowledge could probably do it....I have seen it done on PAM 29 they have swapped the 2836-2 for a 2893-2 movement....so it is possible

but it has to be someone that is precise and clean.....so not to mangle the GMT hand

The hour, minute and second hand will fit. The GMT/4th hand might fit, but usually does not fit. The ETA and Asian 2836-2 GMT movements are modified by our Chinese friends and usually use a larger cannon pinion, but they have varied by the factory. The ETA 2893-2 GMT/4th hand measures 1.80. Measure your 2836-2, it is likely 2.0. I only know of one person who was able to successfully turn down the pinion to make it fit. I haven't tried yet.

  7. His new case sets are horrible. I will not be buying another rep from DSN until he fixes his lugs...horrible. I've got two watches that I can't even fit an OEM rubber to because they lugs are so short...

Did you point it out to him and send him photos?...I know what you are talking about...I have certain thick straps I cannot use on my DSN case...especially OEM gator straps, rubbing the the case will destroy it in short time.

  8. So now I have to either;

glue the retainer back in place?

    or,

order a new custom retainer ring from Justin? (Obviously the best technical/quality solution)

    or,

find a gasket/ring to fit between the crystal and the existing retainer ring?

Just send it to Justin...I have sent him 2x 1680's to get the retaining ring machined....money well spent. Just be sure which crystal you are going to be using, the REP or the Clark...honestly, they both have the same Cyclops Mag....however, the Clark has more of a beveled top edge...but the REP crystal that comes with the PT 1680 aligns better over the date window....pick your poison.

  9. doesnt mary sell the same one? only cheaper...

I checked with her....she only has a bracelet with the endlinks stamped "538"....she does not have the 78360 nor 7836 bracelet.....

The only place I have seen a correct 78360 bracelet with 580 endlinks is on Ebay...from sellers in Asia....and they are going for big bucks $500+..........which makes me wary of whether they are genuine bracelets or just well made REPs....after seeing some of the Rolex stuff the Yuki, NDT and Phong put out....it's easy to be skeptical of whether something like that bracelet is GEN
