  1. You cant really see the watch, but i was just amazed at the LACK of knowledge this guy has, and hes trying to do a serious video review? lol

"Its got this rotating timer thingy and you can wear it in a submarine..."

Rotating timer thingy... ...you can wear it in a Submarine... Parents better start saving for college tuition, this kid's not winning scholarships anytime soon ;o)

    hahaha

    :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  2. Sucks to be uninformed... But it's not really eBay's responsibility, it's really up to the buyers to be savvy on these matters, but considering how much money eBay makes, having a group of people vetting complaints such as those from the good folks here at RWG and for any and all other such fields would be a really great thing - only problem is eBay would be shootin itself in the foot as it profits based on commissions from sales... The higher the sale price the more eBay makes. It sucks but eBay could make it happen...

  3. I have a Citizen Calibre 8700 which has seen all manner of abuse and has run like an absolute champ. In terms of reliability and performance, there is not even a question that quartz watches are better in every conceivable way in that regard. I think a nice Seiko Arctura/Velatura/Sportura or Citizen Eco Drive, the Calibre series stand out as affordable but gorgeous, either should serve you well for years and years. When my last one stopped working, I just went and bought another one, it's nice to upgrade every few years, AND it makes economic sense ;o)

  4. The Seiko Kinetic series are automatic movements only in that they have a rotor to supply energy. Where they differ from proper automatic movements is that the 'kinetic' energy produced by the spinning rotor is transferred into electrical energy through a small dynamo and stored in a capacitor. The watch runs a traditional quartz-type movement. The complications are computerized by microchips, not by springs and levers and gears as in our automatic movements ;o)

Now the Seiko Spring Drive... That's an entirely different kettle of fish. That uses a spinning rotor to produce electricity to power a microchip, but this is used to calibrate a traditional mainspring against a quartz oscillator, so you get the extreme accuracy of a quartz with the sweeping seconds hand of a traditional automatic. These represent what I consider true innovation in watch design. Though the Sky Moon Tourbillon by PP is really something too... ;o)

  5. I hope I don't offend anyone with this post. I dealize that taste is subjective.

Some day I would like to own a Patek. Only problem, I have yet to find a Patek that I would rate any higher than "just OK" in terms of looks. Many of them I find to be rather ugly. Same is true for AP. By contrast, with VC, ALS, JLC and Breguet I have no problem finding numerous pieces that I love to look

    at.

Does anyone else find Patek to be uninspiring in terms of appearance?

Why would you want to own a Patek when you find their designs uninspiring? Why not get a watch you like for its aesthetic appeal and functions, rather than because of the label? An expensive ugly watch is still ugly... And Patek's cache lies in clever marketing along with genuine materials and labour costs, in-house movements, sounds like you want to buy into the story of Patek Phillippe but not any of the watches themselves... The Germans have a word, it's called 'Markenschwein' ;p

  6. All these 'fashionistas' and not one mention of G-Star? For shame fellas... BJJ and Muaythai, you need to dress sporty-scheik. Classy with a sporty edge. Diesel were hands-down the coolest jeans ever, and then like all good things they came to an end. G-Star has usurped the throne of men's casual style.

I feel your pain brother, I used to be a hefty unit. Still hefty, but now 240 pounds of muscly goodness ;o)

Do what I do, dark charcoal G-Stars, fitted shirt, tailored jacket, as a fellow Aussie, get to know Saba, Arthur Galan, Aquila, and look up where their Factory Outlets and sale items are. Sign up online and you can get really good savings. There is no excuse for not knowing, buy a GQ magazine, read askmen.com fashion articles and find your own style, believe me, it'll come very quickly once you absorb yourself in it. And it doesn't need to be expensive, anyone spending 500 bucks on jeans has screws loose... ;op sorry fellas, tough love, you deserve it :oD
