  1. BOB straps all the way mate, www dot waccex dot de or search "BOB strap" on eBay. If the Emergency takes a 22mm lug width I might have a blue Sharkskin deployant that will make it look a million dollars ;o)

I have been disappointed with all my rep strap purchases, they smell plasticky and feel rubbery, in one case I'm not sure if it's even leather! Plus, instead of wrapping the leather around the side, they instead paint along the side, and some of the glues and paints cause skin irritation!

If you can live without the fancy words underneath the strap, genuine leather substitutes are of a far better quality than the pleather offerings from the dealers IMO.

  2. It happens very rarely but I have had the most comments on the montbrilliant legende TT:

Bad photo, but it's quite an impressive looker IRL:

    MBL-j.jpg

IMO, it's the wide and intricate with gold bracelet that gets the comments. The bracelet is more like jewellery than any other watch i own.

    subbiesrock's next purchase... ;o)

  3. Perrelet Automatic Power Reserve. Currently selling for so little on eBay a homeless guy can afford one.

$1,500 is still a bit much for homeless guy, but nevertheless, it's a bargain for the money :)

Been breaking in a new deployant strap on the Datora... mmmmm....

  4. A Navi pictures thread? How am I going to contain the drool???

P.S. If he has some, I'm putting BOB's kids through college :drinks:

Breitling Navitimer Two-Tone - exquisite dial and two-tone, so decided to go with a very plain calf strap on deployant:

    With the original two-tone bracelet:

The Montbrillant Datora with a fairly simple black dial with complex slide rule, looks really nice with the brown croc (BOB) and deployant clasp (fitted an hour ago, so no pics yet)

Here it is with the Navi bracelet:

The Navi World is pictured with a rep strap, but I went for a honey tan tang buckle number, just to try it out, but this watch really goes better with a deployant IMO.

Funny what a strap will do to a watch, I got a Breitling style deployant clasp and a 20mm deployant strap in navy sharkskin and put that on my Citizen Calibre 8700 with dark blue face, think it looks really good! A beautifully designed dial and incredible functionality. It's almost illogical to bother ourselves with these silly watches that require so much care and expensive maintenance (and watch winders!) when we could ALL be wearing accurate, reliable, gorgeous timepieces that don't need maintenance every 40 hours!

...and yet I have 5 automatic watches and 1 solar-powered one... ;) I don't believe in batteries :pardon:

    Cheers guys :drinks::drinks::drinks:

  5. Me too but at leasat once i have down loaded it i can keep it, always good for a second viewing

I cant belive that that pick up was just left to rot! Top trip though, the things they get to do for that program!

I doubt very very much that they ould leave a 100,000 Euro car just to rot on the side of the road... A lot of what they say on the show is just for effect. But I'm amazed that James May driove all the way to the top of the volcano, that was totally insane!

  6. Just looking at his past history of sales and his name has the word 'shonky' written all over it. I'm sorry to say this, but common sense should prevail before handing over your hard-earned. If I was spending that much money on a watch on eBay, I'd want to make damned sure that he has made AT LEAST a few previous sales with extremely positive feedback. This guy is stupid, but those who bid are doubly so.

And when you click on the Rolex Daytona he's got in the scrolling thing and it says "Post Removed"... come on... run run run as far as possible!

  7. Hi guys,

I have this in the relevant section but thought it would get a little more exposure here. Prefer a gently worn condition, but am open to all conditions, as I'll be wearing it almost daily myself.

Shoot me a PM with a price incl. postage to Australia if you have one of these spare and are willing to let it go. I promise to take good care of it and post many gorgeous pics of it on my Navi with BOB strap.

    Cheers guys, :drinks:

  8. I'd say go for it... but then again, I can be a real d1ck sometimes :whistling:

The seller has only 2 feedbacks from buys not sells, so I'd be treading carefully on this one... could be the lead-in to a scam.

The old adage "if it seems too good to be true..." cut your losses and walk away, he lives on the other side of the World (I assume) and there is nothing you can do or say that would compel him to sell them. He would just close his eBay account and start a new one with so few feedbacks, smells really fishy, but if I were you I'd play the statistics. May not be a scam, but it might, and you have no real cards to play at this point.

Good luck, let us know what transpires, this particular philosophical predicament has crossed my mind before...

    and GOOD LUCK!

  9. @Veja74 - I have the Breitling Navitimer and the Navi World and I have to say that the sunken Date Wheel is probably the most glaring inconsistency with these two. I also have a few gen Navitimer dials which I procured for a future project and the quality of them compared to the rep Navi is clearly better. The World is much better finished than the Navi overall, in fact I would say it's the highest quality rep, on par with the Datora. Both are in my view the two best Navitimer reps that exist, although I haven't yet seen a Montbrillant Legende in the flesh.

Probably the biggest advantage of the Datora compared to the rest is the non-sunken day/date, making this the best Navi rep I know. The bracelet on this (unpictured) really is superb, it's like butter.

Here's a short review from the guy at breitlingsouce.com who discusses this exact Datora GEN model:

I can notice the band where it connects to the lugs is slightly different. Other than that, the clasp is standard Navi which is excellently replicated. The dial is superb and everyone can make their own judgement on how accurately this is repped, however in my opinion I think it's spot on.

Onto your question, the 9:00 subdial does indeed have two hands, the 24hr (linked to the hour hand, and not independently adjustable like the GMT hand on the World) and running seconds. Everything functions precisely as it should, how they do it is frankly astonishing to me. This is apparently a modified 7750 (the original is the ETA 7751 movement) to incorporate the day/month wheels and the date 'crescent moon' hand, as well as the 24 hour hand. In fact, this movement is incredibly feature-rich for a mechanical movement and I too am astounded that it even works at all, let alone working as well as it does. Incidentally this is the slow-beat 21.6k movement (a simple counting test confirmed 6 beats per second instead of 8 for the 28k movements).

An amazing watch on its own, and an incredible rep. Not sure to what Andreww was refering that made this a bad rep, but no doubt his eagle eyes are well-versed in picking such things up. He has a keen eye for detail in Navitimers that - after reading his review on Navitimers - has to be respected :)

  10. The Montbrillant Datora came in yesterday via a fellow member, thought I'd give it a quick buff and show you guys :)

    DSC07553.jpg

Absolutely gorgeous timepiece, it has a few advantages over the standard Navitimer series, being:

    - Larger case (43mm vs. 41.5mm width) for the Navi

    - Much better slide rule match (off by only 0.2-0.5mm compared with 2-3mm for Navi)

    - Dial replication of a much higher quality (IMO)

    - The band is superb, it astounds me why anyone would get the gen over this. It's immaculate.

    - It's gorgeous :)

    Breitling Pron at its best:

    DSC07548.jpg

Gorgeous timepieces, this sits right next to the TT SS/Gold Navi (black croc) and the White Navi World (soon to be BOB tan strap, after seeing Deniz's AWESOME SA). All three are absolute keepers, with AR and aftermarket straps the only changes, not that there is a rush, these babies are going to be admired and cherished possessions for years to come, probably until I have an actual baby :)

  11. The Breitling AD here in Aus is yet to dignify my email with a response... Just wait and see what a croc and a deployant will cost here. I spent some time in Germany over the last few years and bought myself a top of the line Hugo Boss suit, a "Jam/Sharp" for those in the know. Full tailoring, sleeves, pant length AND the lats taken in a touch, tailoring all inclusive, from the Flagship store in Berlin, mind you. 500 Euro (about US$600), free tailoring included (a bit of charm always helps out with the ladies, the tailoring I later found out was close to 70Euros on its own!). I saw the same suit here in Australia, from a Discount Factory Outlet for couture brands, strewn on some nondescript shelf. ... Wait for it... AUS$2500! (US$2000)!!!

This is what we are used to contending with here. It's utterly ridiculous. You guys in the EU and US have it easy, I assure you. Spend some time in Australia with some slightly refined taste in clothing and you'll need to take a second job (or sell a kidney!) ;)

  12. @Mike - you mean calfskin? That's a massive discrepancy in price between calkskin and leather!

@Wimpie - sorry I misunderstood you, you meant to bend the whole piece of metal that says BREITLING, I tried that and it seems to work quite well!

Good advice! It's nice to know that all the problems have been had by our more experienced members!

    Cheers again guys!
