  1. Here's the last piece of my order from swissexpert; finally got here today. And it's... a submariner that has completely the wrong hands & hour-markers-!! The band is also too sharp on the edges and the clasp needs some adjustment. Needless to say, I was livid when I opened the package, as I've been waiting since last month for the stupid f*cking thing. However, in the light of developing this new found hobby (and attempting my novice hand at repair & modification), I figured why not just bite the bullet & turn it into what it should be--the 16610LV, green anniversary edition. So I've got a genuine bezel insert on the way and thanks to instruction manuals posted online, I'm also going to crack her open and try to disassemble & oil the movement (as soon as my Beifang tools from Andrew arrive). Crazy? Maybe. At least it's an ETA 2836-2...
  2. Some nifty links I’ve used to accessorize the few watches I’ve had (specifically Rolex): Complete book kits: http://www.buyawatch.com/kits.htm Individual booklets: http://www.buyawatch.com/booklets.htm Tags: http://www.buyawatch.com/Rolex%20Accessories.htm Cape Cod cloths: http://www.capecodpolish.com/content/products/index.php Case back stickers: http://stores.ebay.com/Boston-Watch-Exchange Watchmaker/repair tools: http://tuxedonyc.com/watch-tools/Watch-tools-1.html It used to be in English (his email is tomyana@netvigator.com) but if you email him he can sell you the newest style of Rolex inner/outer box for $78, shipping included: http://stores.ebay.com.hk/tomyana Here’s the box: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ADME:B:AAQ:US:1 Bezel inserts: http://stores.ebay.com/JEWELRY-OUTLET_Subm...3QQftidZ2QQtZkm
  3. Not really a scammer, just a price gouger--mark 'em up, sell 'em on is what sales is about--both that site & his Asian site are pics of the real things that you actually wind up getting; he was straightforward in his emails about not bullshitting on the flaws before I ordered. I just ordered the perfect swiss sub from Josh and a datejust & GMT from Andrew, so I'll do a side by side comparison/shoot of the subs when they come in. I'm also tempted to take them both into Mayor's Jewelry (Fla's best Rolex dealer) in gen boxes to see which one they think is better.
  4. Where did you get the insert from & how much $, if I may ask?
  5. Same here--makes me feel like I wasted $2800 on the old one.
  6. I appreciate the compliments--the box I got off eBay however, and all the other goodies I bought in a kit from this site: http://www.buyawatch.com/kits.htm

  8. Yes; unfortunately I didn't discover this board until months after the fact...
  9. swissexpert.net. A bit overpriced, but I will say their customer service is phenominal. The mid links are hollow. How does one shave/correct the CG's? All I've got is a Dremmel & a basic watch repair kit.
  10. That is a very nice one--who did you get it from?
  11. Just got this one in last week. My girl likes it more than her real DJ; I just wished they would have used Moissanite instead of CZ, so there'd be more fire in them. Any complaints or compliments on this one? http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l286/gio...amp;media=image Thanks
  12. Greetings all! I posted this at another board and wanted to see what the members around here thought of this model. I (unfortuantely) paid almost $600 for this model at a sight I won't bother to mention. Overpriced--most definitely--but I think it looks pretty good compared to most--let me know what you think. They're shot in indirect, natural light on a little 4 megapix Cannon Powershot. I think maybe the crown guards, band & pearl bezel look better depending on what angle they're shot at? The one main thing I can't stand about this watch is where "Steelinox, Registered Swiss Made, & 73250," etc punched through to the reverse side of the watch--ruins the whole look when the clasp is open. That and I think maybe the crown is a bit too large. Let me know your hoonest opinions on this one. Thanks. (and yes, the # on the sticker is way off) (If the pics appear too big on certain screens, I'll include the link to the photobucket album): http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l286/gio...amp;media=image Dressed up pics: Swiss ETA 2836-2?) crappy clasp: and here's where it goes from Zurich to Canal Street for me:
  13. Yeah the price & buyer would be good to know. The cheapest I've seen just the box was around $100 and they want $149 for the set w/ all the trinkets. Here's a nice site I've used to accessorize with all the goodies: http://www.buyawatch.com/Rolex%20Accessories.htm http://www.buyawatch.com/kits.htm
