  1. I purchased these for my Father-in-law, sized it and shot a quick one. The color is off, I couldn't get the white balance on the point and shoot right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-DJqFj11wo gen shots The images on puretime's website and mine don't represent the color well. The rep in person looks very close in color to the gen shots. The watch is plated, thickness on the screws looked less than a mm. I also purchased a full gold ceramic GMT II for him , because of his careless daily use the plating has rubbed off the bracelet. With gold reps I would wear them like 30K watches, also light but frequent cleaning with a microfiber cloth removing perspiration, oils & residue should help prolong the plating.
  2. I feel that you should add gen insert only for now. Live with it for a while, if you decide it's a keeper and are fine with the flaws then you can decide which gen parts you'd like to add. The watch with gen insert will already be +$900 you can flip it at this price fairly easily (I did) but there may be less of a market if you get close to 1/4 the cost of a gen sub. If you plan to keep the rep forever than add away and enjoy the process. I've also heard the TC LV dial being compared to a mark 6 dial so lets do that... TC D-serial Z-serial The metal on the round hour markers are too fat. All gen dials I have seen from early Y to V serial and random serial have thin round hour markers. The gen thickness matches or is thinner than the angled hour markers of 12, 6 & 9 markers. It's minor to some but to my eyes the balance was thrown off, the round hour markers had more pop & presence. If you want to keep to total build cost low and still be satisfied Arcadia wrote a great thread comparing the TC to gen Y-series. If you eliminate the engravings, the TC bezel and xtal with no lec is series correct to early Y series Subs. inexpensive 2.0mm Clark crystals will give added xtal height and perhaps clearer date mag. http://www.replica-w...nd-103387.html?
  3. Gen insert top and left. TC's bezel teeth are closer to gen Y series. F, Z & M series have deeper cuts. Depending on how particular you are Y series bezel might only match flat four gen inserts. all the history you need about the LV model discrepancies http://www.network54...sary Submariner
  4. congratulations, his work on the diver is supreme, a true craftsman . Imo Uwe is the only way to go, he must be very busy...I cann't wait Does your improved, inner rotating bezel still have the weak stem on the winding crown that all V2 Divers carry?
  5. quote from rek001 over at RG I believe this is true even for the ROO, can someone confirm? If true this is something to consider but donerix has you covered. Also did you stop by rckh "Diver with gen short strap" post? Probably give you a good feel for what the diver might look like on you Cheers
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiTWg_X6R-M&feature=player_embedded Did you leave the sound on the entire video? I wonder if shes singing about the curves of a monster? It's an intimidating watch I'm really liking rubber straps recently. cheers
  7. Racetaker welcome There are so many amazing writers and photographers here. This place inadvertently teaches you about gens, interesting to know that some of the most informed watch enthusiasts are regulars here. Wanting a time piece that is close to original as possible is natural, everything listed above are excellent choices in size and accuracy for your first rep. There are several highly accurate reps from the factory…then there is the next level where reps start to turn into gens. If you’re not concerned about costs, you may want to pick up a couple cheaper reps to get a feel for size, it will give an inexpensive way to try the whole process out. You can find out if 42mm looks perfect or that you want nothing less than a 44. Palifender, beautiful collection…I don’t know how you cand decide what to wear, they all look so versatile and stunning
  8. Ahh, thanks guys, the descriptions read slightly different from Josh’s site and it was a recent listing from lay. Didn’t know that Steelfish and V2 Skyland were also HBB V1 factory…Still learning
  9. Nice to meet you sportvega whats your fav timepiece? and how's the weather treatin it?
  10. so this looks new, http://www.replicamake.com/product_info.php?products_id=2555 What do you guys think? ...so Christmas is actually in February this year?

  12. Craig, the Swiss fish your after if unfortunately no longer available from delears. However you can find them for sale by other members here Breitling SOSF Swiss White Dial Looks like this one is still current, decent price with the recent service and added accessories. Not sure if this sellers location works for you or the white dial Here is a nice thread about the current situation on the Steelfish, Steelfish Rep is a gonner Other options you might consider are the Skyland Avenger, or the Seawolf, but the Fish does seem to have that right size and thickness also love that it’s brushed…consider gen, prices may be lower than you think. Have a good day
  13. SOH Chrono arrived yesterday. Good weight, nice strap and bracelet. Subjective but the smell is mild and only apparent when very close to the band. A bit of a struggle to get the trimmed rubber strap with spring bars into the shorter, non adjustable, clasp side (minimum space between springbar holes and clasp case). I would recommend using simple razorblade when trimming. A crude visual measurement does place the spring bar to spring bar (12-6) around 50mm. Lug tip to lug tip looks to be around 56mm. If you have enough wrist width to wear a watch that measures 50mm lug to lug then you can wear this watch. Curved lugs work great with smaller wrists but the thick case back sits it high enough so those with larger sized wrists won’t be bothered. Watch feels so good on, looks stunning.
  14. This is my 78dollar Milgauss. This is my first rep. Dealer info says Made with a Genuine SS watch completely dissected. 1 : 1 Dimensions and Case Profile Product Weight: 152 grams Movement: Asia 2813-2 Automatic Movement, 21J Initial impressions…I have no idea of this rep's accuracy, rep looks good, nice curve at 9 o’clock, beautiful curves all along the case. Perfect thickness. I love how Rolex bracelet and case work together. I enjoy looking over the bracelet as much as the watch itself. Very solid, nice fit where they meet up. I tried to take a picture to show case numbers and stamping on inside of bracelet. I was surprised to find this, assuming it’s an accurate feature. Description says 152 grams, I need to weigh this watch but it feels light. I understand that the Rolex gens wear light but this watch feels hollow. I'm going to have to try a Gen on soon. The movement in this rep ticks vs. the soothing frequency of 28800bph. The rotor is noisy, it sounds like a little kids game, I guess it’s a good sign that it spins so easily. I doubt It would be noticeable in a public environment and hardly any noise with normal walking movements. For the price I paid this thing looks amazing...no feel though...ehh too much blue in the photos, I only had a few min's
  15. - Pennies, I'll message you where I got this rep from…still unsure on the protocol for posting dealer info. - Toadtorrent, I appreciate the help. I think I just needed a little encouragement. This rep was on sale and a spur of moment decision, I usually take months to research and choose. With little knowledge on the rep I was feeling a little uneasy. Thanks for the warm welcome, becoming a VIP member is the least I can do. The information (gen & rep) here is priceless. Also thank you for taking the time to write those enlightening posts. The history, dissection, and opinions you infuse in your reviews satisfies my thirst for knowledge. - Wiesn089, I'm glad you pointed out the accuracy of the rehault makes me feel that I made a good “quick” decision Thanks again everyone…I’m really happy I found this place
