  1. It is very hard,since you can adjust the focus only by moving towards and away from the object you're photographing.They might also be blurry,because i zoomed out a bit to get more details,but then the "frame" of the lens started getting in the shot. (-;
  2. I've decided to run an experiment by taping a helios 44m lens onto my fujifilm compact camera.The effect I got is stunning macro performance.The watches photographed are Seiko Sportsmatic 5 from 1967 and a Wolna chronometer (featuring the legendary Wostok 2809 movement based on a Zenith cal.135 chronometer) from 1960. Tell me what you think (-;
  3. I was using my lunch break to take some shots of my Alpha Planet Ocean.This is my "rough" watch,which I take sailing,paintballing,windsurfing and generally take it to places in which my other watches have less chance of survival.This watch has been thoroughly tested by my friend at a Polish forum by freezing it for 24 hours, and then boiling it.The watch survived and still kept good time,despite the WR 3ATM inscription at the back (-; Hope you enjoy the pictures:
  4. Brilliant idea mate,can't wait to see the finished product.
  5. My friends from a Polish forum helped me with the dial design. The dial itself was printed on some special kind of paper and stuck on the original dial.You can't tell that it's paper,it looks like enamel (-; I forgot to mention that the molnija has direct Rolex links as well,since it is identical to the Cortebert cal.616/Rolex cal.618.
  6. Exactly (-; I will just go nuts and use suiting parts that i have in hand. It will certainly give me more satisfaction than a watch bought from a shop. On a different note, I've modified a watch before. It was a present for my girlfriend to celebrate our 2nd anniversary.It is a modified 18j molnija with my dial and different hands: It turned out great and if this one turns out half as good - i'll be more than satisfied (-; P.S. The inscription below the hands says "For the only one".
  7. I'm going to be duing a rolex sub hommage.Thanks to TeeJay, I'll receive 3 sub cases and use the stuff i already have to do it.ATM i only have quartz and manual wind movements spare,so i guess i'll have to buy an automatic at some point.Anyway,the parts which I have now include: Case(s): Dial: Bezel insert (on a plastic sub case atm): And the movement is in a little box somewhere in the cupboard What do you think about this combination?Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated (-; Also, if you have any spare parts that you do not need and i could use,let me know (-; P.S. for the second one,i'm planning on getting my lovely girlfriend to do the dial,since she is really talented. Here is an example of her work on my guitar: J.
  8. Teejay,if FXRandy doesn't need those cases,i'll gladly have one for modifications and finally creating the watch i really want.I already have a bright green submariner dial and a green bezel insert ;D Also,i'll find a movement somewhere in my box of spares (-;
  9. I like the serial number - xxx/1000
  10. I keep the watch running anyway (-; I sometimes even wear it,especially on hot days,when wearing a wristwatch can be a pain in the backside (-:
  11. I'm planning on making a wire stand for it,i don't really like the looks of the glass domes (-;
  12. This is a vintage Zenith pocket watch,which i've inherited after my gread grandfather,whom i never knew.It was given to me by my great grandmother in 2006.The movement is the famous Zenith 18.28.1.PE and this particular one was made in Besancon,France.Since the factory didn't keep records of produced watches,i can't tell precisely when it was made.He wore this watch until the day he died,i even have the leather case thay my grandmother made for him.You can see the marks from where it was sawn to his jacket (last photo). I hope you enjoy this old piece of watchmaking precision (-;
  13. Thanks Ronin (-; It's not a hommage as such.The case is styled to look like the IWC Big Pilot,but i've never seen one with small seconds (-;
  14. Chinese work of art (-; ST-25 movement,316L Stainless Steel case,47mm excluding the crown.This is definitely my favourite watch (-;
  15. Hi, While browsing one of the Polish watch forums,I was amazed with what Sql_pl has shown.So i decided to register here (-; I'm 17 years old,currently living in the UK (originally,i'm from Poland) and I have been collecting watches for over a year now.I attend Yale College,reading Chemistry,Biology,Physics and Maths Mechanics.
