I know some of you have done this, but what is the trick?
no trick but the outer numbers are closer to the rehaut than they should be. Depends if you can live with it or not ...

The ludicrous prices of vintage Rolex watches and parts means this is an inevitable consequence. Its a reality check. Hopefully people paying 3k for a painted disc with Rolex written on it will become a thing of the past and put the 3k into something a bit more meaningful ,...

Oohh ok, thanks Pete
I will let me wife do it then, she is already in the kitchen
Arrgghh! she's not wearing the gloves !

To brush the bezel, do you onely use a steel sandpaper or what?
A Scotchbrite pad will do it, the ones you scrub the pots and pans with. Don't forget to wear your pink rubber gloves

PolexPete,
Now that I ordered the H4 setup, the movement is going to come with the ETA datefont. Should I also grab one of the TC DWO? I know that its made for a 2824-2, so will it fit on the 2893?
Yes a TC dwo is a good option, and yes will fit the 2893 no problem. The dwo on the one pictured is from a cartel 2836.

Sold my 5512 meters first that I had restored by Bob Ridley several years ago and I kick myself every time I think about it .. Bought it for $2500 and sold it for almost 9k when the market was hot
9k ! don't kick yourself too hard and make sure you wearing your Gucci loafers when you do

You may want to get the H4 canonpins and hour GMT wheels ect for the 2893 if it does not come with them to alow a bit more under dial clearance for the DWO and over dial clerance for the GMT hand
Pete is that the MBW case there?
Any one else seen this case???????????????
Hi Andy,
this is an old Silix case, the correct thinness but incorrect crystal and bezel assembly ...

oh yeah i forgot about the hand set up. You can order from http://www.cousinsuk.com
i ordered this lot and it worked fine. No need for movement strip down so probably didn't use centre seconds fourth wheel. Date wheel overlay was not a problem either.
Cannon Pinion With Drive Wheel Height 2.90mm ( 242 ), ETA 2890 (ETA2890242H290) £4.10 each
Double Toothed Hour Wheel, Height 2.04mm ( 2558 ), ETA 2893.2 (ETA289322558H204) £2.88 each
Hour Wheel 24 Hour Height 1.19mm ( 251 ), ETA 2893.2 (ETA28932251H119) £3.76 each
Fourth Wheel Centre Seconds, Height 5.61mm ( 227 ), ETA 2890 (ETA2890227H561) £3.03 each

Hi John,
i built a friend of mine a 1675 using this movement from this seller. No problems with it at all. Its a standard grade ETA (they have 3 different quality grades) but the guy is a top notch seller.
You can read about ETA grades here ... http://watchotaku.com/display/swr/ETA+grades
Here's some pics:
Good luck with the project

No problem. They're the closest I've seen to gen. If only the minutes hand was sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiightly narrower.
Nice one Nanuq, i was going to ask where you got your hands. Mine are from CWP but the minute hand is too fat. My problem is Mr Slimeball won't ship to China so if anyone ordering a set and can add one for me i will send you money and shipping costs.

Welcome back!
A heated debate? If it were up to me, I'd build the 1680 and then set it on an acetylene burner and see if I could get it to glow cherry red.
That would be an awesome 1680 red

Hmmmm....well to be fair a euromariner may not be the exact same as a TC?
True, but just wanted to show overall quality.
If TC are supposed to be gen spec then using both the Clark crystal retaing ring and bezel shouldn't be a problem.
Maybe using the TC retaining ring and Clark bezel is where the problem lies in the fit.

I just got mine and installed on my Euromariner cased LV. Quality is pretty good, the crystal retaining ring is much better quality than the stock Euromariner one.
The problem is the actual click and fit. It doesn't click like a gen in fact its almost silent. Also its a little sloppy. I tried beding the click spring so it would engage the teeth more but didn't make much difference.
I don't have a gen insert but my aftermarket fits well but still needed to be cemented in.
So conclusion is it looks good and quality is up there but action is poor. But for the money you can't really complain...

1675 uses a #24-5300 tube and a #24-530 crown
Thanks Akira, these are the smaller crowns than the Explorers ?
Cheers

Isn't it the smaller tube and crown- 24-503-0 and 24-5030-0? I know the 600 series crowns and tubes weren't used on the GMT. GMTs also were only rated to 50 meters early on, but that may have been the 6542. But it seems even the 1675 was first 50m and then 100m at some point like in the later 60s.
Yeah its confusing. I have a Phong case but what i thought is the correct rown is too big ... Its the small one i need
Cheers

Can someone please tell me the reference numbers for tube and crown in a 1675 case ....
