Still wearing my beater

Most of the watch parts houses sell generic 7mm crowns that fit standard stems.Try ofrei.com.

My TC is having a great Saturday. Hope yours is as good.
Still wearing my beater, which makes for a good day, but not quite as good as yours.

I think the AD was mostly correct. Rolex tends to favor larger (ie, higher volume) ADs over anyone else. They always get priority & for obvious reasons.
You are also correct that, relative to 5-10 years ago, today's reps are visually very close to their gen brothers.

Great 'patina'. Well done, BC.

Yes, the Coke bottle scene.

It all depends on your goal. If you were trying to maintain a natural-looking patina, I think you overdid it. However, many here work very hard to produce that type of appearance.

Phong on the other hand - never! same story: I explicitly asked for qc please pics and he just disregarded my request and send it anyways.
My experience too. Unfortunately, ignoring (previously agreed to) pre-shipment QC pics seems to be 1 of the only things Phong is consistent with.

I have always believed a $1200 case is just a $100 case that was pretty close to oem to begin with that has been detailed.
I think you are probably overestimating the value of a properly made, blank 'Rolex' case, but mirroring what some have been saying for many years. Other than the dimensions, the only difference between the case used for a cheap Silex Sub & 1 of Phong's or MQ's cases is the money these aftermarket parts sellers charge.

Sorry, 7206.

As others have said, Phong is a hit-or-miss affair. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not. I would send the photos to him & ask for a replacement. He is usually cooperative when proven wrong.

If you have a 103x with a date, then it ought to be a drop-in replacement for a monochrome (all black) datewheel. Congratulations on a nice find.
-
The case profile is too tall/thick for an early Sub. But, otherwise, all things considered, an interesting curiosity. Might be worthy of a project.

If that is a genuine Rolex 103x datewheel, it will fit a Rolex 103x movement. I do not believe it will drop-into any ETA-based (or similar) movements.

Remember that, back then, that 250 would buy you 1/4 of a new car, which is 1 of the reasons those Rolex watches are relatively rare (ie, valuable) today.
