  1. @alligoat, thank you for the link. I almost pulled the trigger on the one from Paul, however, looking at the images, it looks like the bracelet is *really* bad quality. You can see on the end links where the two-tones come together that it looks just like one piece. Whereas on other bracelets you can distinctly see 3 pieces together with a clear seam. Does that make sense? I found this one: http://www.sewatches.com/rolex-day-date-swiss-eta-2836-movement-full-gold-with-silver-dial-stick-marking-31828.html which appears to be a 36mm size AND the bracelet looks better, but I've never heard of this dealer before. Does anyone have any advice on where I can find a 36mm Day Date with a decent bracelet from a trusted dealer? Or has anyone ever ordered from Sewatch before with okay results?
  2. But the new one is the one with the lines around the dial though right? Do you know of any dealer that sells the older style correct size 36mm?
  3. I just recently ordered a Day Date from PureTime. When I got it, it seemed huge. I just went and did some research and it looks like the correct size for a Day Date is 36mm. But PureTime's is 41mm!? And even Josh's is 38mm Is there a good reason that no one offers a Day Date with the correct case size?
  4. I just purchased a Day Date for a birthday gift from Puretime. The watch arrived fine but when we attempted to adjust the bracelet, many of the screws were lodged in and got stripped. We then attempted to cut the links out since we wouldn't need them anyway, but one of the broken links was the last adjustable one, effectively ruining the bracelet. I really need a replacement bracelet ASAP. I emailed pure time about it and they want me to send the broken one back before they can send me the new one. I just simply don't have time for this. I'm happy to pay for a new one from them, but while I'm waiting to hear back, was wondering if I could get some help here. Does anyone know of a good source where I can get a replacement bracelet for this to the US ASAP? I found this one on eBay: eBay Link but I'm not sure if it will fit or not. Are all these models pretty interchangeable in terms of fit? It looks like it ships from China so I'm assuming it's just a standard rep bracelet. Or anyone in the US have a bracelet for these the'd be willing to sell?
  5. I agree that visual should be #1, I guess is just surprises me is all seeing how I believe Rolex to be the #1 replica'd brand, that at least one factory wouldn't produce an Asian movement that set in the right dirrection. I think I'd rather have an Asian movement that set right than a backwards Swiss.
  6. I'm not sure I agree that its not visual. If someone sees you setting it it's pretty visual It just seems odd to me it's so overlooked. Is it really that hard to make a movement that sets the correct direction?
  7. Sorry, I didn't mean wind. I meant the direction in which you set the time.
  8. Seems to me like almost every gen rolex I've handled has had the winding direction turn in the same direction of the crown, i.e., clockwise. Yet all rep movements, both Asian and Swiss are opposite. Seems weird that we are so fanatical about the tiniest of details when one of the largest inconsistencies goes untalked about. Thoughts?
  9. I was just having a PM discussion with someone who suggested that the Helium Escape Valve on genuine Sea-Dwellers pushes in just like the reps. I was before under the impression that this "one-way" valve vented by letting gas out and slightly coming out. And that a genuine will not "push in" at all. Was I under the wrong impression about this? I've tried to find the information online and it's extremely hard to search for and since it's used in diving there aren't any videos that I could find of it working.
  10. I believe I've been using 20mm ZULU straps on my DSSD, and everyone once in awhile I notice a slight gap. Has anyone attempted to use 22mm? If so, how does it feel/look?

    wow...

HAHAHAHAHAHA "Also, it sometimes stops. I think I need a new battery. You have to change the battery on these, so yeah."
  12. I have the same problem with mine, also a ET v5
  13. toomuchgear, That is a beautiful piece indeed ... very close to what I'm looking for. The only thing I'm not in love with is the gold hands / dial combo. I think I'm more looking for something with a bit more of a classic look like silver hands / non-numbered dial. If only though ... the bezel is perfect!
  14. Hey everyone! Lately I've been steering away from my usual choices in IWC, Panerai, etc... and I think I have been bitten by the vintage bug. I have a fairly nice 16610 LV that has been seeing a lot of wrist time lately, mainly due to the comfortability and of course the classic sub look. But the more and more I wear it the more I fall out of love with it being modernish. I think I'm ready to spend some serious $ to pick up a nice vintage piece that will be my daily wearer. I'd really like to find something in the 5512/5513 style ... or even a vintage Sea Dweller for that matter. Accuracy is pretty important to me ... and I'd also like something that actually looks vintage ... especially a faded bezel. As far as sourcing, I've noticed the usual dealers have some interesting if not pretty inaccurate pieces for sale. But even then they come "new" looking as if they just left a factory. So ... all that leads me to my question. What is the best way to source something like this? Is there anyone out there that has a line on someone wanting to drop a vintage piece for some cash? I would be willing to start a project and have people we all trust do the modding myself, but I'd prefer to find a project already completed as I have a fairly long trip coming up that I'd really like it for instead of having it all over the country getting modifications done. Thoughts? Advice? All would be appreciated! Cheers
  15. I heard a problem with this is that Davidsen's dial is thicker or something so it won't be a direct drop in, it has to be slimmed down or something. Flav was telling me this.
  16. You could always just get the correct hands from a different source.
  17. Such a bummer that he has the wrong hands though... otherwise it would be 99% perfecto.
  18. Someone mentioned this in the last forum about this guy... what I just don't understand though is that a 113 is a 44mm and the Fiddy is 47mm. Do 44mm and 47mm Pams use the same size movements? Is it just the size of the case that is larger??
  19. Umm... that is not a Big Pilot. Damnit you got me all excited for nothing. I knew it sounded too good to be true. Next time you are feeling inebriated, be careful with your words.
  20. Did you say NEW IWC BIG PILOT???!??!?!?!?!?!?! WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?!?!?!?!?! WHERE!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  21. Why do you think it's a scam? It looks 100% auth to me. True, the picture of the movement is a little fuzzy, but from what I can see, the engraving looks perfect and the Swan Neck dagger is perfect, two things that are totally unavailable on current reps. Do you have any specific reasons why you think it's a scam?
  22. Shasta the first pics you posted is definitely fake.. look at the second pic you posted, how smooth the letters are etc... It's plain as day the difference.
  23. Pug!!!!!!!!! Those are the kind of shots that people need to post more often. I can't stand when people post wrist shots that are only 2 inches away, that's ridiculous. Who in the world ever looks at your watch that close. I think the first photo you posted is the exact kind of shot that should be posted more often. It gives a good indication of what the watch ACTUALLY look like. Great work.
