  1. Im no expert, but like teejay said its possible the stem never engaged.

Before sending it back, I would take the back off and try to reinsert the stem. If you search around im sure you can find pictures of the movement to illustrate this, but you need to depress a "button" to accomplish this

  2. Andreww - that was a rhetorical question. I appologize if I offended you. I am trying to hold a dialogue in an attempt to inspire those watching to donate, not single you out. If the admins decided to go invite only, there is no doubt your name would be at the top of the list, certainly before mine.

But what we have is a situation that is affecting everyone of the members of this board, VIP or not. And for those who can donate, should - more than anything, that will alleviate pressure on the Admin team.

  3. @Seanf - Your absolutely right. I personally dont know what it would cost to move the server to CHINA.... hell, I don't know where the server is know - but I know it isn't free, and therefore the suggestion shouldn't be made by someone unwilling to support.

...Which is what I was getting at before I flew off the spear (sorry)

  4. Some of us choose to pay our dues with hard work. I personally wrote a few parts of By-Tors Breitling & Omega guides, I try to contributes as much as I can via photography & discussion, and I try to be active in issues that affect us all. I put my name on the line for Pugs over at RWI, and have been taking [censored] for it ever since. I lobbied for the removal of pornographic avatars at both sites, and even though the membership agreed, and the motion was passed, I am still ridiculed for it to this day. I'm neither bragging, nor complaining, but just pointing out that a community runs on more than just money. It takes many types of contributors and each is as important as the next.

You couldn't be more right. I wish I could donate more to the forum, I am just not as knowledged as you are - or as many are. And I believe yours to be a special case, you definitely contribute to the forum with your posts. But you are the exception and not the rule. And your hard work, for all it is worth, isn't going to buy the forum more RAM when it is needed.

  5. Money is tight for me too. I am a law student, I am not allowed to have a job. Since being here, I have only purchased one watch from a dealer, and it was a gift. I wish I could have been involved in the HBB or the MBW, and I finally saved up enough to get in on the Ferrari GB.

I realized early that my 30 bucks is going to be better spent investing in the future of the forum, than in putting a new bezel insert in my $50 sub.

This is not about wallet size.

Andrew, how many watches do you have?

    *edit for grammar

  6. @Seanf. I am certain that TeeJay as well as many other non-VIP have loads of posting potential, but better to give us than the forum itself? Without money there is no forum. Period.

If everyone opted not to donate, where would we be?

62 members watching - 27 paid for VIP

    *edited to cool my tongue

  7. Seanf - Though I agree with you that it takes sometime to really get into this hobby, how many people feel the way you do? It seems to me that alot of the people perusing this forum are looking to get the best rep they can for cheap, and that the hard earned lessons of the few are enjoyed by many. The least they can do is cough up $20 to support the forum

And "donating" to raffles is like buying a scratch off lotto ticket. You can say your supporting education all you want, but your really just trying to win

  8. I have not renewed that VIP status, becausefirstly, the ability to edit my posts is not that important to me, and secondly, I was disheartened by the response to the recent issues with Cartel Dealers, and was not prepared to support a forum that continued to allow the Cartel to deal from here, and be respected here.

Yet you continue to post here. Yet you continue to benefit from the information that other people give to you. Yet you still spend your money on reps that would be unavailable to you otherwise.

And you can't manage to donate to the forum?

Today its the "Cartel", tomorrow it will be something else.

Seanf - good for you, if everyone who benefited would own up and VIP then we wouldn't have some of these issues

  9. I am member of several other forums, and it is not unheard of to have to pay to be a part of them. I think this would be good policy. I have not been here terribly long, but the first thing I did was up to VIP membership.

I agree, drop the low post count members and make "VIP" membership mandatory. I am constantly amazed at the number of non-VIP that like to discuss the happenings of the board.

I don't mean to sound elitist, as I clearly have no higher standing than any other, but the lack of support astonishes me.

I think this would help to eliminate the newbie issues that have been springing up, as well as keeping out watchful eyes

    My 2 cents :penguin:

  10. I wish... its tempting but if it gets over 1000.00 there's no way I could justify that.

Ofcourse if it doesn't over 1000.00 it would be a steal.

I'm no Omega expert, but thats one of the best looking SM's i've seen.

    I'll bet $1262.50

How about yout? Price is right rules, Highest bid wins without going over
