  1. Welcome aboard this forum, have fun, enjoy pics and threads and contribute your opinion to rep watches.

here are some answers to your above posted questions:

    1) RO chronograph .... there is no good rep atm for this series due to the gen movement that does not have a good equivalent in the rep-world (there is a quarz version though)
    2) ROO chronograph in rosegold ... there are now several options.

    • ROO RCRG ... the Rubberclad that is with dark grey dial, black subdials, a rubber bezel and a rubber strap in black ... very nice watch, very accurate to the gen
    • ROO Don Ramon de la Cruz .. . in rosegold with a brown hornback leather strap ... nice watch but take into account, you´ll need a new, good hornback croc strap for this (around 140$ - 300$ depending on the strapmaker you choose)
    • ROO Marcus edition ... this one is loud with it´s black dial and red numbers/pushers/crown ... not for everyone
    • ROO rosegold with white dial ... a newly released piece that can be had with a gold bracelet as well ... wonderful new piece
    • ROO rosegold 2014 edition with RG dial and RG bracelet/or leather strap ... atm only from NOOB with a dial color that is a tad off the gen ... J12 will release their version soon, worth the wait for comparison
    • ..... several other RG ROO´s, just have a look at the dealers pages (e.g. Pure-Time.com)

    3) a. ROO BlacK Themes ... the most accurate rep of a gen AP for long time, deserves a ss bracelet, but can handle rubber and leather equaly (dress-up / dress-down)

    3) b. ROO Black Themes 2014 ... with ceramic crown and ceramic pushers. Nicely replicated by J12, awesome look, the rep-hornback strap is quite nice, so with this one you cannot go wrong and do not need to upgrade anything!

Hope this is helpfull for you, GLWP

  2. That idea is good ... but also not the newest. There have been other members on different forums who tried that.

Please take into account that we have more than 1 replicated 15400 ... BP, cheapo, Miyota, .... I have lost track on the different models. All these come eather on bracelet or (some) also on leather straps, not all are interchangable.

I had my dealer look for a 15400 that can be used with bracelet and additional strap, so far he did not succeed as the holes in the case, the holes in the bracelet, the holes in the endlinks/plots and the size of the plots are ALL DIFFERENT.

So a good way should be to focus on ONE model only, take the model that only comes with a bracelet, try to fit the APbands plots and strap to that model .... if this works, you can start copying the endlinks and members can order APbands straps or from other 3rd party suppliers ...arrrgh does not work this way, a 3rd party strap-maker will need the insert for the strap to make a perfect fit to the case; so one needs to donate an expensive APbands strap to the strap makers as well (errrh and you cannot take the rep leather strap as these use different endlinks, not equal to the APbands plots).

Sorry to spoil the fun but I need to tell you. The demand is there, but you cannot fullfil all requests for all different 15400´s on the market.

Wish you luck in this project,

    Dr. Theo

  3. Errrhm ... you were looking for a 38/39mm RO in your previous post .... you were looking for SWISS movements.

Now you changed your mind to a 41mm RO with Japanese movement ... mh, OK.

There is no better RO 15400 than the mentioned above, choose your color, silver/white is not that good, black is too simple, blue gets mosts attention.

Nearly every TD here can source it, good luck.

  4. This won´t match in no way! The endlinks for a gen 15400 and the rep 15400 must be 100% identical to use the APBands kit .... and as the rep-factory did NOT have a gen 15400 at hand, the rep was only done with reference to pics.

So stay away from the pricey strap-kit .... wait for Angus to step up and show us what he can offer end of this year!

  5. OK, I will chime in.

I started some Dry Denim projects mid last year, here are the contestants:

    1) Big John (14 oz "Gunjo" dark indigo, red selfedge), oldest japanese denim company from 1940 (size 34/34)

    2) Edwin (14.5 oz "Nashville" dark indigo, red selfedge), japanese denim but made in Europe (size 34/36)

    3) Levi´s (11 oz 501 STF ... shrink to fit), a light jeans, good for summer, love them when still dry and starked, shrinked heavily in length (size 35/38)

    4) Edwin (14.5 oz "Sivletto" LE, red selfedge) japanese denim but made in Europe (size 34/36) .... never worn though, only soaked.

    5) Denham (14 oz "Skinny", red selfedge) japanese raw denim, sanforised

    6) Edwin (14.5 oz "ED-55", red selfedge) .... ordered and on the way to me.

The best of these above is the Big John so far, the most expensive but worth every cent. It starts to develop nice fades, especially the whiskers (front) and the honeycombs (back knee) are promissing.

The Nashville is a bit loose but as the indigo is really dark, you see the fading now coming out while only soaked once after a 6 months wear.

Will post some pics if I get the time,

    cheers

  6. Hello Ralph,

welcome aboard ... stay safe and have fun here.

The Chronopassion is one of the very best and 1:1 replicas of a ROO you can find today. Beside the usual, minor flaws you need to live with (Datewindow position slightly wrong, thicker caseback, crown position) you will not find another AP Chrono that is so close to gen.

And for a 3rd party strap ... no problem. Buy the CP V5 with a standard rubber strap and you will find tons of other straps that can make the watch completely different (a grey croc, a sude grey sharky, a brown calf ... ). And APbands is your dealer for high quality straps to fit the ROO ... look out for "straps for ROO newer case" and make your choice, you can subscribe their newsletter and wait for their next SALE with some discount.

    Good luck,

    Dr. Theo
