Both those sale threads were mine I gave away the gen dial + hands for almost nothing! It took me almost a year to find that closed factory SMP. It's one thing finding a case that takes gen parts, it's another finding one with the correct HE valve placement + reasonably accurate CG's. Both versions of the cf case existed 4 years ago. I have one last closed case in my box which I'm building my final franken SMP with.

As far as I know you cant buy a gen pearl. You need to buy a used bezel off eBay or whatever and extract the pearl yourself. That's how I've done my last 3 frankens.

Now that I sold my 007 franken I've pulled enough money together to finish my next franken. This one will be a definite keeper next to my FrPO. I wont throw the details out just yet ( some of you already know what it is... ), but I am going to post some inspirational photos up................................................ Here is the shell for my project, my newly aquired FrSMP 2254.50. All I kept on this was the case (note the modded cgs and correct HE position)...I parted the rest of the watch. Thanks for the complements all! The Seagull works amazing. I will probably use theses movements moving forward. The build from what I could see was identical to ETA and it holds great time at half the price. The gen crystal is more clear. The AR IMO is questionable. I find it really depends on the angle you hold the watch.

Its a custom made piece that several modders are making. It hold ups WAYYYYY better than epoxy. My tube fell out twice before I decided to try this route. Now, I will never go back!

Hey guys, Finally finished my FrPO. I'm going to keep this very brief and cut to the mods......... Build consists of: - Gen dial - Gen hands - Gen pearl - Gen crystal - Gen crown/tube - Gen clasp (hand selected links) - Gen springbars - UPO HE valve assembly - ETA datewheel - ST2130 Seagull movement (brand new) Note: - Victor and I put this whole watch together. Victor is a trusted modder on RWI and does amazing work. I recommend him to everyone, seriously! - We made custom sleeves for the gen crown/tube and HE valve. This allowed us to go to a pressure/friction fit assembly as oppose to epoxy... No epoxy or glue was used on this build - Dial feet were a little short. Instead on epoxying the dial or installing it loose, we sanded the feet down to get the tips to flare out a bit. This solved the issue - I did the pearl mod with a Rona drill bit and some GS Hypo cement. r11co, it sounds like your getting my post confused. Let me clarify: Craig wears the black 45mm PO on rubber throughout the whole first half of Casino Royale movie (not blue I know). From the train scene in Montenegro on he rocks the SMP Professional. Its now obvious that Craig will be wearing the AT in Skyfall, but in addition to that watch "I thought I heard" he was also suppose to alternate to the BLUE PO....I may be wrong

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the AT one of two watches Craig is wearing in Skyfall? The PO wasn't ditched, he's just rotating watches like he did in Casino Royale. Isn't he still rockin the blue PO...?

I had the same winding problem with my 42mm 5th gen ETA guys. I too had to manually wind the watch for a few weeks. This seems to be a common issue with the PO...when you shake it would start but stop after a few seconds. I would need to give it a good 20-30 turns via crown and it would run fine until I took it off. Some nights it would still stop but for the most part it ran "ok". I ended up franken the @&$# out of it and dropped a new and serviced ST2130 myself. The movement took the gen parts perfectly with no mods. Its super smooth, very accurate and runs like a tank now.

They all need to be modded. None of the out of the box SMP's are really good... WBK's (TD) a21j is a good budget SMP if your interested.

Both the rep and gen SMPs are 41mm The PO is a 42mm (per gen) The gen SMP chrono is 41.5mm I have a 6.75" wrist so they look very proportional.

PO has: -gen dial -gen hands -gen crown/tube/stem -gen crystal -ETA datewheel -pearl relumed to match gen dial and hands All this one needs is an HE valve and bezel. I haven't been able to deals on them yet...

Dude, You can buy a used dial on eBay. I did...this is my beater. My frankens got: -gen dial -gen crystal -gen hands -gen bezel -gen crowns (both) -ETA datewheel Gen left/ mine on right If only I had the correct HE position I own both the chrono and non chrono gen models...

Yup $1000.00 to $1300.00 USD for a Seamaster Pro makes sense. I guess all I was trying to say is if a guy wants a very good franken SMP rep and is willing to work with a +/-$650.00 USD project budget, it's doable. Otherwise go gen and spend +$1000.00 USD for a clean one. I bought a closed factory SMP for $250.00 and the gen parts (007 dial, hands, dw, crown and bezel) for $250.00 (on eBay and RWG) . Threw PBDAD a few bucks to build and relume the dial and now I have a 9/10 rep that's almost bang on to gen. I own a quartz, auto and chrono SMP already. I just figured I'd try a franken for a beater...and now I love it. If you take your time sourcing clean, used gen parts you can do it at a great price. On the other hand, the guys who buy all their parts new are the ones that go over $1k...that I wouldn't be interested in spending...
