  1. If I invested $10 g's in a gen DSSD I wouldn't think twice about spending $900 on a new insert. It's a gen DSSD man. Putting a rep pearl on there is like putting Walmart brake pads on a Ferrari...Just my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I might be wrong but the second you apply a gen Rolex dial to any ETA based 2824 movement your date will sit left justified. It's supposed to be very hard to center the date, don't even know if it's possible.
  3. Regardless of whether you use a TC dw or BK dw (for example), you dates will be left justified. I believe there's a forum on RG about pairing up gen dials with rep dw's or ETA movements in general. I'm not sure if the date window position is different on gen dials vs std. ETA components but I've had the same problems with all my franken gen dial builds. Re. TC dw misalignment against TC dial - I can't answer that one...is the TC v3 dw actually suppose to have all the centered dates this time...?
  4. TC use to offer his YM bracelet and dial. They are now sold I believe.
  5. Corona, beautiful franken YM. That sounds like my original build that got passed around the forums.I looked at the WSO white gold insert and the font is completely wrong. Given the state of your franken (and IRolexU wishlist) I would urge the two of you to only accept/ consider a full gen bezel. That's all I had left to do anyway. There's one or two sellers that occasionally list them on eBay for about $1500-1700. Lastly, as an FYI - if either you are concerned about weight - the old WM9 cases use brass movement holders. The YM reps tend to be a tad lighter than the gen however with the brass holders in the WM9 it puts the full weight of the rep watch on par with gen. Even if the insert isn't platinum. Here's a photo of mine just before I sold it...
  6. Interesting, I'm 4 weeks into owning mine and I'm at the stage where the colour difference between the pearl (white) and hands (slightly yellow) are bothering me. The pearl is certainly closer to the dial lume, but even the hour indexs are a tad yellow. I had a TC and BK YM, nothing beats the difference between the rep hands (yellow) on those after you install a gen dial.
  7. FWIW... Here's my TC with Gen insert...will drop in a gen crystal when I find one. Not too concerned about the crown yet, I actually love the smooth and stiff feel to my crown. Did the LV ever come with an AR cyclops or should I just stick to the non-AR? I've had both in the past and the AR was obviously cooler.
  8. Thats a pretty good thickness for a 7750. I believe the gens about 12.81mm thick. Ryan @ intime had a post some time in the past about a piece he was considering as an offering. 21j offering at 12.77mm... http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/rolex-daytona-116520-100119.html?s=a2802121b0517cee1ae6c7e59c690aab&
  9. The TC V3 clasp is built different than the V2 and TW. I tried it...they all look th same side by side, but the dimensions are different on all three believe it or not. You can put some of the pieces together but the flip lock will never shut properly. The tolerances are all off from each other. All you can do is mix and match clasps and end, but not clasp components...
  10. The V3 clasp is hit and miss. I've had a handful of crappy ones too. My recent clasp came out great, full coronet, firm flip lock and the most important part of the V3 clasp ---- correct SWISS MADE stamp! Can't get that on the V2
  11. You should also shop the used rep sales section. Pepsi's don't often come up but they do every once and a while. 2 weeks ago I grabbed this 16710. Seller thought it had a 21j and as it turns out it was a gen ETA2836. It came with a gen crown/tube, beautifully shaved crown guards and a BK date wheel overlay. I replace the click spring with a stiffer wire and picked up a like new gen insert for $90.00. The hand stack is incorrect but with these kinds of mods that's the least of my worries. After all said and done, here's $275.00 well spent. (Initial rep cost me $175.00 and I was purchasing this watch with the intentions of getting a 21j). *gen insert not installed yet. I picked this up to use as a beater and now it's a very reasonable franken.
  12. Here are a few crappy pics of my newly acquired 16710. The seller listed it as a 21j but it actually ended up having a decorated eta 2836 I've removed the bracelet, it felt like tin foil (next to my TC V3) and installed a NATO temporarily. I will be putting up some updated photos in the next few days. -BK dw overlay -Modded/reshaped crown guards -Gen crown + tube -2mm gen spec spring bars *soon to have a like new gen insert, installing it this week... Some might argue this is too much "Pepsi" but I'm also installing a new French themed nylon strap. I saw a gen on TRF with this combo and it looked fantastic. Photos:
  13. Hey guys, can anyone comment on the 2 tone GMTIIc? I'm thinking about picking one up but im having some doubts about the gold and overall weight. Does anyone own one? Are these "17k gold plated" bracelets reliable? Whats the bezel ring made of? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Link to Puretime: http://puretime.co/product/gmt-maste...racelet-sw220/
  14. Looks great, congrats! Cant go wrong with Trips watches. I'm the guy who picked up his GMT
  15. Lol wicked deal...those snags are hard to find I'm running a modified 2836-2 Swiss ETA, that's right. This build was a mission because this movement didn't allow for: 1. A gen dial (the gen dials are much thicker than the rep counterpart) 2. A gen GMT hand. The hole on the gen GMT hand had to be enlarged The gen dial had to be machined down in various areas + the modified GMT elements on the movement made modding the dial a bit challenging... Hours of work and in the end it truly is a one of a kind franken. I don't think I've ever seen anyone franken a great white.
  16. I used a Rebel T3...I was running off the factory presets. I haven't had a chance to read the manual re. adjusting shutter speeds and etc...
  17. Wow so jealous, great find!!! Funny, I just finished my franken "Great White" last week...suck though - my mines a franken (not a full gen) and I still spent $150.00 MORE than you... Well at least mine hacks lol
  18. Your absolutely right, so did mine... Note: I have a UPO HE valve and gen bracelet though... Great job Danza!
  19. Thx Trip! Your absolutely right, however I've just about hit the bottom of my bank account too lol Frankens are like a disease...!
  20. Danza, I have the exact same 3 watches in my collection! Great taste! My Sub consists of: 1. Genuine Insert 2. Genuine crown and tube 3. Genuine crystal (the rise seems to be a little too low still...) 4. WM9 1pc end links (thx RSH) 5. WM9 hollow center links (thx RSH) 6. Sean clasp (thx RSH - the best rep clasp i've ever seen) 7. PBdad dial + hands relume 8. PBdad modded crown guards 9. Swiss Selita SW200 powerhouse
  21. Hey guys, I've been fooling around with my new camera the last few days. I've had some time to photograph my Omegas here and there - figured I would post some photos up for everyone to see! Let me know what you guys think. With the new house and my 3 month old son kickin around, it looks like my collection may stay like this for the next while... FRANKENS: 1. Omega Planet Ocean (42mm) 2. Omega Seamaster 2254 with non AC dial mod 3. Omega Seamaster "GREAT WHITE" GMT GENUINE: 1. Omega Seamaster 300M "BOND" Quartz 2. Omega Seamaster 300M "BOND" Chronograph
  22. This is awesome. Thx for the feedback. I'm certainly looking forward to putting this on my list of frankens. It's too bad the gens lume isn't green, otherwise it would have been an easy franken. Looks like the only way to go is a gen crown/tube, gen HE valve, gen crystal and a blue relume. Is the case usable (and aesthetically accurate) in your oppinion or you better off getting a 4th/5th gen case set as a base?
  23. This is a great looking rep. Whats the gen lume colour? Blue or green? With some gen parts this could look really good. Im very impressed with the dial...
