Dear Euno,
Brilliantly written eulogy, warm and pure.
My condolences.

Could not stand IWC.
But will buy a 3717.. on a brown rally strap. Or brown distressed leather.. double AR.. If any is offering.
But will never, ever buy a Breitling yuck..

Moonwatch, I second that!
forget the gold.
(Else go for an older rolex gold with leather band.)
-
What gives
Is this a gen or not?
-
for 600 bucks, I'd go with a nice hungarian stripper!
The HBB looks better... I take ceramic over silicone any day :-)
-
jumping on the UBI bandwagon:
Yes he rocks, without his OK I'd never bought my GMT II. Thx a lot still love the watch
(although I have the hots for my neighbor's rosegold HBB)
on the other hand HE SUCKS: still does not want to sell one of his franken daytona's :-))
(for the oblivious.. just kidding here)
-
ow yeah, great question:
Swiss eta, serif issues resolved and an engraved rotor, I would pay up to double of what they are going for now....
but with the current flaws, and the asian.. no way

I'm one of those who voted gen (gloating). Apart from the correct hand-stack, correct bezel insert, which you can put a gen or high quality OEM in, the crown guards are just too good to be a rep. The transition line from the case to the CGs should be close to the bezel and it should be one straight line a little before the base of the crown. And then before the transition line, the case be brushed instead of polished. The CGs are not pointy, unlike those on the subs. The crown has short teeth and a very obvious bulge. All these can be modded. But chances are nobody pays attention to these details except a few of us.

Very nice call!
Esp. considering the bad lighting
.
Funny thing is, after I posted that it is a gen, someone voted Rep :-)))))

Friendly monkeys, of course.
ps. Nice watch... and not that badly photographed. I was just making a point.
off topic
As long as these monkeys are not the nice friendly monkeys I saw in Asia..
They hit an unsuspecting Japanese couple at a temple. Gone were their water..hat, peanuts etc within seconds.
Can't remember what they did to the traditional camera...

Of course they are you silly goose - it is a $200 rep. They will never be perfect, but on the wrist and without a gen to compare to it is tough to know this watch. I own three genuine Rolexes though and this one is good enough for me...
Congrats on your first gen aquisition. Nice piece.
Silly goose :-)) I think you missed the "bit", as I said the spot on I meant....SPOT ON :--)),
Great looking watch, and three gens.. any openings at your office?
-
That could be down to your photography.
I don't like answering these 'tests' from newbies as it seems to me they think of us as performing monkeys.
monkeys ?
Photograpy, well yes, no light box.. just a desk, a lamp and a geek with a camara :-))
-
Am comparing your pics with a gen in hand.
The hands, the crown on the crown, and the crown on the clasp, look a bit off.
The rest looks spot on!
Congrats!!

It is a .......... drumroll
gen!
I was able to do a great deal, with some support in the background from Ubi, I had it verified at a Swiss AD.
It is a 2002 version, with the lugholes, for which I've been hunting for more then a few months...
It is in near mint condition, contrary to the picture, and cost me around 2600 euro including papers, AD certification etc etc.
wiped out my bank account. But a dream is fulfilled, and and happy as a child :-))
The poll:
5 to 7.. apparently not so easy :-))
(sorry for the late reply, i could not figure out how to unlock the post again, TT aka speedy gonzalez was nice enough to do it for me)
-
I acquired my first ........
All due to this board and some great members around here.
Thx for all the support.
Now the fun stuff, Gen or rep, experts make up your minds!
And hit that button.
Why a poll?
Simply because everyone can follow Ubi's opinion, and that is no fun.
What watch accomadates this car?
