You keep saying that but we have posts on the board and even in this thread from people who say they have seen 5512/13 with similar crown guards.
+1 on this.
-
and... you work from one side then to the next?
Thanks for the tip
Yes. Also use masking tape to cover up the lugs so that you don't scratch them when prying off the bezel.
-
Why would this guy put $300K worth of watches in two $40 watch boxes? Nonsense!
-
I have no idea about the size of the gen, I was pretty much locked into 28.1 mm since this is the size of my no-date dials and also the size the case needed. I suppose it will be fairly easy to figure out stuff like this when more pics are available of it.
More pics and a review too.
Fantastic build, J! The red and the gold of the dial goes so well together.
What build do you have planned next?
-
I actually need a tad longer hands. These were perfect for a 26mm dial...
Is the dial on the Black Bay 29mm or 26mm? Can you tell, J?
-
$3760? Yikes! Add the cost of a gen case and you're over the gen cost!
-
Super cool, J.
What size of dial is that? 29mm or 26mm?
-
That's great, J! I look forward to the final unveiling.
-
I think I have everything I need except the insert, which is on it's way! I will likely build it in a vintage style case and will differ from the gen in that I will be having lug holes. The factory really should have drilled the lugs on this one...
Cool! I look forward to it. Yes, drilled lug-holes would've been nice on the BB.
-
Looks good, Justin. Are you going to be putting together a Black Bay?
-
I got the 5512 in the end.
It's on a NATO strap at the moment. Lovely.
WOW! Another piece of sh¡t build. Well done!
Must be a rep, look at the stumpy CGs!!!
-
Oh, look....a gen...and a different camera angle.
-
For $100? Good enough. Total build cost was $258...and that's with a Swiss 2824.
-
WTF ????
minimal crown guards, maximal crown
THE VERDICT IS : a Perfect Piece of Shiiiiiit !
no offence, its just to point out this thing
Verdict: you're a perfect piece of sh¡t.
Movement was hacked, BTW.

I have a Clark 125 in mine and the mag thing is not square with the date window. I have a gen dial in my Josh/PC 5513 case with a Swiss 2824.
-
I hear the retail is about 4k US for the black bay. I have some "carribean connections" so I am really going to consider this watch!
$4k for a watch with a generic Swiss movement in it. With $4k, I could buy a used gen Rolex Sub, Explorer or GMT II.
-
That magnification on the date looks kinda huge.
-
Funny, I recognize a lot of you now from TRF.
-
All this crap that they are producing is just going to make the vintage stuff more desireable
-
I thought this was something else. I have it already. It's cool though.

Interesting comments about cloning Rolex movements
in The Rolex Area

Unless you're trying to rip somebody off, I don't see the point of having a clone movement. This is a pretty dangerous move for the rep makers. And, just having the thought of walking into an AD with a rep should get anybody banned from any rep forum.
