  2. well just to clarify: it is not illegal in all Countries to by fake goods - selling is a different story. Germany in particular has no law against buying counterfit goods, but against selling them.

It also sounds unbelievable that German Customs would open the package without your presence - that is illegal!! They are supposed to have you come in a opne the package in your presence

I totally agree...opening can turn into a problem for them let alone sending it to Panerai. Never heard such a thing before =/

  3. @tourbillon1801: which country did your order come from ?

Sorry to hear that, at least bloody panerai will see how good the reps are and that there are people who realised that their watches are highly overpriced for the movement and quality they offer (and they go for reps) ! A gen pam base model is AT MOST worth 1k USD. All the rest is the looks. No discussion about that. Firms like Rolex may dare to demand high prices bc of their inhouse movements and long innovative tradition (i am no Rolex fan by the way) but Panerai, sorry no.

Thanks god we Europeans have PT :)

  4. Is there any news about the project on the correct datewheel ?? i know there is another thread for it but i thought i could ask it here cause seems all the Ingy fans are together... :whistling:

And is it in general difficult to change a datewheel or are you guys doing that yourself ? I guess a local watchmaker will manage, right ? Thanks a lot.

  5. Simple answer to your question-

In the summer heat, or during strenuous activity (no laughing in the back there!), I get allergic reactions to the nickel in stainless steel. Titanium does not give a reaction, therefore I like to have a lot of titanium watches! It is nothing to do with the weight factor at all, just a practical use.

I heard about this watch last night, but wait to see how the Asian 7750 movement holds up with the running seconds at 6 (same as on the Portuguese Chrono and the SS AMG Ingenieur).

...you better take your watch off for screwing...LOL! (same with socks)..just kidding

  6. The IWC Ingenieur is a more substantial rep that is every bit as good, datefont aside. Mine has pretty good AR too!

How come yours has AR ?? Where did you buy it ? Or did you put the AR yourself ?

The HHB is not perfect, of course not. BUT disregarding the movement I also think it is one of the very best reps out there.

Additionally, we have to consider that the HBB is not an easily replicated piece. Look at the sub dial hands, the minute markers and their structure.

And the case construction itself is 1:1 and its not an easy one (just compare it to PO or Ingy, which are simply made of one chunk of steel). Count the individual parts on the HBB that had to be repped before assembled. Count the different materials (including the ceramic bezel once it is out).

When the time comes that we convince makers to do one of the HBB limited editions that have a closed caseback, i will walk into the next AD, bust that damn thing on the table and let the clerk work for me...trying on all watches they have in the shop while slurping my customer-cappuccino:D

  7. I am not an expert on movement reliability but my modest understanding from reading posts perfectly complies with yours: As soon as there is some movement of subdials you get into problems so stay away ! Even if there are only two subdials, I have read so much bad expeirences with the IWC Portos that I have convinced myself to stay away (though I love them). Same goes for the Ingy Chronos, although I have not seen any complaints yet, but thats maybe just a matter of time.

On the upside, there are some very interesting gens using the seconds subdial at 9:

    - Hublot Big Bang

    - IWC Flieger Chrono

    - IWC Aquatimer Chrono

    - IWC Aquatimer Chrono "Cousteau"

so these models (hopefully repped soon with the exception of the HBB wich has been repped) will hopefully have promising long-term reliability even with Asian 7750...

  8. If the rep is 1:1 like the HBB (meaning it will fit gen parts !) then in principle you could buy a gen steel bracelet (maybe too expensive !!) or maybe the rep Ingy steel bracelet fits ???

Anyway, here are a couple of pics for you us to hold us over till its here...and a teaser pic at the end showing another beauty we would all die for, wouldnt we ?

  9. Mellow Yellow...yes please :wub::wub:

about the date - Hublot is now only using black dates in all the new Big Bangs and there has also been a variety of date fonts on the gen Big Bangs some bolder some not so bold depending on when it was produced. The newer version all have a bolder date font and they also have the 2 line serial on the back.

Hublot is NOT only using black dates on newer models. There was merely a shift from white to black for some releases (some models such as all black allways have black datewheels) but then Hublot was considering stopping using two different datewheels as there wer difficulties of keeping two different inventories. Now they may consider using black datewheels again due to high customer request.

Secondly, newer version do NOT have a 2 line serial on the back. That is the older versions ! The older versions had a reference number and a serial in two lines and additionally a case number on the lower right part of the back. NEW releases do not have case numbers anymore. They have a new reference number depending on the model (for SS/Ceramic Bezel for instance it has changed from 301SB to 301.M or 301-W (depending whether bezel is brushed or polished) and aditionally, a serial on the opposite part of the back. Those models for which there are no two versions of the bezel use 301 as reference in the new engraving notation plus a serial. The exception are limited edition models, which still use old notation, with reference and serial in two lines, and cases are always numbered in the form "N° xxx/yyy". Additionally, the LE models use different engravings, sometimes "Limited Edition" single lined and separated, sometimes two lined etc.

I discussed this with Angus, so everything will be done as on the genuine, no worries. We have a special source for gen caseback pics :whistling:

I noticed that but It's only a matter of dimension here, but the same models as in the poll are avabile as gens also in the 44.5mm version so no problem of repping...

Thanks for clarifying. The main purpose of the poll was the different types of models. All of them do exist as 44.5 mm so that was what I intended.

  10. Very Nice Work ! Hopefully it is real titanium and its quality is not too bad, then we can safely say the chrono version is the most accurate Ingy out there (the non-chrono suffers from the short hands problem if at all). The only tiny little difference I can see is the colour of the red minute numbers. They should be the same strong red colour as the second hand, bt they look a bit darker on the pics.

    :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. And for some models we will need a black date wheel. For instance, for the Black Magic it is not neccessary (it does exist with white date) but it is sooo much nicer IMHO.

But lets just first see how good they are at using pvd to mimick a ceramic case...one step at a time :)

P.S. Gold Tuiga is on place 3 at the moment. I am impressed, maybe it is bc people realised that if that model will be made, it will be one to walk into your AD with (its got a closed caseback :D )

    :harp:

  12. Angus,

Make sure that they are replicating the polished black ceramic bezel, and not the matte. There are versions of the ss & rg with matte black bezel as well, but these were a limited run for the Asian market only, and didn't go over as big as they expected.

    Thanks!

Nice to see someone is informed about Hublot. I have to add, however, that the matte black ceramic bezel started as a limited production run for the Asian market, but is now available upon request. Hublot and their extremely customer friendly policy has even changed the polished bezel into a brushed one for a buyer which has originally bought the polished version. Another important fact to know is that when the bezel for this customer was exchanged, the case remained the same so the engraving (301.M - standing for polished version in the new release engraving notation) was not changed to 301-W (brushed bezel) and so does not match anymore. So what ?

In other words, with Hublot, ANYTHING goes. Buy a RG case, black ceramic bezel, then ask the CEO to exchange it for a tantalium bezel. Bang, he will do it.Your case back engravings wont match anymore but who gives a [censored]...and never be afraid to get called out on these. :)
