  1. Thanks, fitmic! And thanks to all for the welcome, feedback, and PM's. I didn't have a paypal account, but my uncle does and he just placed my first Rep order for a YM from EL for me, the wait begins! My next purchase will be a ladies model of some kind for my niece's graduation gift in May. This is a great board, I enjoy the international flavor! I've been to 35 countries, and there are a lot of folks from around the world here. Thanks again for the assistance.
  2. chrisbailey86, will do ... I've got quick responses on my inquiries from both EL and Andrew ... it is a rough call b/w the two ... check out this THREAD buckeye, Ubi does seem to know his stuff, I'm impressed! I'd like to get into that buy, but that thread gets heated toward the end and I'm too new to try to jump on the bandwagon ... that is making me lean towards EL, and he seems like a stand-up guy from my PM's (Ubi likes EL's model) I had a busy day today, but will proly ask a few more questions ov the sellers (got to read that how to buy a rep thread I ran across last nite and misplaced) Question ... what the HECK is a CG?? Thanks for the great welcome and assistance
  3. May I ask a question of actual YM rep owners? I'm looking at both EL and trusty models, and I was wondering if they use trituim for the glo markers (similar to a luminox or firearm night sights) or if they have to be "charged" by exposure to light, and if the hands/markers are clearly visible in the dark. For those of you who own the trusty "perfect", is it worth the extra $120 bucks in your opinion? Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the tip on the second markers, buckeye, I was unaware that was something to watch for ... I've found it impossible to find the proper red color/font on any rep yachtmasters yet ... juyaku, sending a rep to a watchsmith never crossed my mind, thanks! I've been in contact with EL about a Rep similar to the one you purchased, Starbug and he does have them. I did find a THREAD on the specific YM I am looking for from Andrew, and am on the fence as to weather the value added of having it full serviced and certified to 5 bars is worth the extra cash. I'm amazed at the great responses I've recieved both in this thread and in my PM's, I'm doffing my flame suit, nothing but help has come my way thus far, thanks again. At least I figured out how to get my avatar online so far
  5. Thanks for the warm welcome and informative response, Jim, I appreciate your input. I got Andrew's site to open fine now. As a diver, I have a Luminox SS dive watch for the serious depths, thanks for letting me know Reps are not certified to depth, my main concern is I have a cabin crusier and the watch may get wet (to 20-30 feet) free diving to free the anchor from underwater obstructions. I'm leaning towards a model similar to the ROLYM006 from Andrew or another vendor. I have about 15 browser tabs open now reading the site. Thank you for your feedback that was sepcific to my questions, and when (and if, after researching this possible purchase) I get one, I'll share my experience with the board members. Glad you got a watch and service you are happy with, and I'm REALLY glad I didn't go with bestswiss! Anyone willing to share specific feedback on your Yacht Master purchase (be it the ROLYM006 from Andrew, or any others) and tips on what I look for, I would welcome your feedback. Thanks again!
  6. First, thanks for the forum ... I stumbled accross this and it may have saved me from buying from bestswiss based on the reading I've done last night and this morning. I just read and digested Edge's guides and have read some posts on the Yacht Master, and I have decided on either a Swiss (ETA) or MBW (Maria’s Best Watch)/WM (Watchmaster) for purchase. My real problem is I'm not sure what to "look for" in deciding on the quality of the Rep. I don't expect 100% Gen quality, but would like my rep to be water resistant to a reasonable depth, built from quality materials, have a font, design, and apperance that is a "close match" to a Gen. I don't mind dropping a few hundred bucks on a quality Rep, but it is a chunck of change for me to spend, and I want to make the right decision. Until I found ya'alls board, I was really confised reading reviews from ReplicaInsider, Replicacenter,Replicabillboard and others. I can't believe I almost fell for the bestswiss gig, and would have been paying of a credit card bill for over a year on a poor quality rep. I tried to goto Trustytime and cannot get the link to open. For those that own one, any advice you can provide me in what to look for in a quality Yacht Master rep and your experience with the vendor you selected would be greatly appreciated. I'm leaning toward the stainless model (more than leaning, pretty much decided), as my GF bought me a gold Rep that is fading badly. As a new member who is searching the boards for answers, I appreciate this forum and have put on my flame suit for my newbie post. Cheers!
