OK, so you have all talked me into going for the gen sub insert. Found one on the Bay w/out the pearl: Rollie Sub Insert Obvious next question, can you put an aftermarket pearl into this? Is it worth it to do so? Can a gen pearl be sourced anywhere, or do you always have to buy it with the insert? Thanks!

I hear you , but I don't really want to try a gen on my 1st tab at modding the bezel. I figured a $30 aftermarket insert was the way to go. Sounds like Watchmaterial inserts aren't that good - are the ofrei ones any better?

ok, based on that serial#, what Polex sub model# does that correspond to? reason I ask is b/c I am looking to purchase an aftermarket insert (maybe a gen at some point if after I practice) to replace the existing insert, but am unsure of which one to purchase. Watchmaterial has 3 sub inserts that I can see that all look alike, but am unsure of which one to purchase. The #on the hologram was 16610, but was unsure if that was the # I should be looking at... Bear with me, eventually I will get this Also, can anyone comment on the quality of the watchmaterial vs. the ofrei inserts? Are there other better options out there that I should look at?

All - regarding my thread on replacing the bezel insert and bracelet on Andrew's "Perfect Sub" - would the Timeshop route be the best way to do it, seeing as Andrew wants @$100 to send me just the bezel insert and bracelet?

All - finally was able to get the bracelet removed. Serial # is F520117. Is that from the Noobfactory?

Apologies up-front if this is in the incorrect forum. For those of you that have shipped from the US to worldwide, what type of info have you put on the Customs form to not arouse suspicion in terms of: 1. Item description (both high-level & detailed) 2. Item value I've see some threads on tips on shipping TO the US, but not FROM. I've already had something stopped on the way to Canada no less, and want to avoid that with a recent sale going to Singapore. Any help/advice would be great - thanks

Experts, Have a fried (at least that's what I am telling my wife anyway ) who is interested in a skyland blacksteel. Have been doing some research on the differences between the v1, 2 & 3. I can see that the v1 is the one to stay away from b/c of the imperfections from the original skyland v1, but I am struggling to determine the exact differences between the v2 and v3. Mary is quoting the v2 at $30 more than the v3 with the same movement, but I wasn't sure what the differences were that would make the older model more expensive... Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks all. I've sent on a couple of pms, so I'll see what I can get. Then just follow gioarmanis guide to restore the bracelet and I'm back in business. Can anyone speak on the quality of the ofrei inserts in case I can't source one here?

I just thought that $100 for a replacement bezel and bracelt seemed a bit high since the 21J vesion with the same bracelet and bezel insert is only 118 on his site. Then again, I'm not all that well-versed in the parts market, so maybe this is about right....

Honestly dont know. Will see if I can't get to a watchsmith to take off bracelet. Just had shoulder surgery so unfortunately can't do it with one hand! Will post back when I get it off. Thanks for your help

Resident experts, I had purchased a "perfect sub" from Andrew a couple of years ago and the clasp ended up breaking as well as the pearl turning a tannish color. Since the bracelet is pretty scratched up already, and I didn't think I'd want to try replacing just the pearl, I asked Andrew for prices on a new bezel with pearl and a bracelet with the 316l steel. It came out to 100 bucks. Does that sound about right to you all? Do I have better options? I know ofrei sells the inserts, but I wasn't sure if they would fit or not. Tried searching through the forums here to see if anyone had posted a topic around this to no avail. Perhaps I'm not using the search function correctly. Any advice would be appreciated!

I am a huge VH fan, but honestly not too excited about the reunion. DLR can't sing anymore, and a tour without Michael Anthony and the JD guitar just isn't right. I read that Eddie kicked out MA since he played some old VH songs in concert with Sammy. Would love to see a tour of Eddie, Sammy, Michael and Alex, as opposed to the one they are going with. That being said, I will still end up forking out to go see them when they come to the NY area...

I agree. Got my wife a ladies datejust and she absolutely loves it. It's a real classy simple but elegant watch. Also a big fan of the Omega Constellation, as someone else on this thread had mentioned as well. Can't go wrong with either.

Quick noob question for you experts. I noticed on Silix’s site that he offers a Ultimate PO with a nickel movement and one without one. Difference is $40. I remember seeing a thread (I want to say it was related to Rolexes, but not sure…) that a nickel movement is nickel plated movement that is assembled in Switzerland. Is this the case? Does that mean a more reliable movement? Also, has anyone purchased an ultimate PO from Silix? I have heard about the raves from Andrew & Josh’s PO’s, but nothing on Silix. There is a pretty significant diff on price, especially with the non-nickel version, and was curious if there was anything other than the flawless reps of Josh and Andrew that might be the cause of it.
