  1. Same insert than previous MBW... CG's a bit different from side view (less sharpen) but from up side view seems less straight, better date font... only remarkable difference is the engraving on inside rehaut ring... let's see price but as usual, too high expectations...

  2. Definitively you should not use modern bracelets (with SEL) with old/vintage cases, specially with holes. It scream fake from 20 miles away! There are rep bracelets with hollow end links pretty good and of a high quality, very difficult to spot. And it's not only a matter of having a case without holes. I had a 1998 DJ with no holes but having hollow ends.

I know that some time a go TommyH had a 2007 case to sell, but it was pricy (obviously as it must be). Try to contact him and maybe you'll have a winner.

  3. I've had many reps in the past two years and most of them came and went away very often, until I found my personal taste. Finally., I decided (as By-Tor stated very well) to keep watches that, first, I used to wear often, second, that matched my personal way of leaving (no bling blings) and third, that had that "special" touch that made them unique (at least for me). And this is the result:

MBW 16610 heavy modded (gen crown and tube, noob dial, datewheel and bracelet, CG's moded...)

16233 Franken Datejust: Gen case, dial and crown. ETA and oyster bracelet with solid (real) mid links from a RWI friend:

16200 Franken Datejust: Gen case, dial and crown. ETA and high quality aftermarket oyster bracelet (thanks Homer):

And this SFSO that I will never regret enough for selling, but that will go back home (at least a Friend of him) soon (genuine rubber strap):

There are some new ones coming for 2008: Montblanc Timewalker and some Tag Heuer (still to decide)...

    Hope you enjoyed...

  4. It happened to me also with my DJ (man version). I replaced end links (I guess yours have hollow ends) by genuine ones as well the spring bars. Before installing, I also pressed gently (covering before both sides) the end links to reduce the gap and noise. Hope this could help.

  5. I'm still waiting for someone to find one part of the life cycle of a product that a marketing person wouldn't call marketing.

Development, Introduction, Growth, Maturity & Decline... these are the life cycle stages of a product. I don't see "marketing within" ;) If you go in detail inside each of these stages, you will find marketing activities in some of them and in different life time.

  6. At first, when I was trying to build a frankenjust, I was using rep cases and both times, the gen dial was too small. I got a couple of gen cases from Roling on ebay- 16013 and 16014 and the problem went away. The 16000 series DJ's w/ plastic crystal take a 2836-2 movt. Later 16200 series DJ's take a 2824-2 movt.

That's the way... gen case, gen dial... Laz, if you have a modern dial buy a moder case from Roling on eBay... 16200 it's the one. But nothing less than 200 USD unless you are extremely lucky!

  7. Laz... unfortunatly I can spot the 1 mm. in the DJ dial... how can it be possible? probably you have an old case with a modern dial... the dial can be seat in a ring on the movement (you must build the ring) but the 1 mm. will always be seen. The canon pinion of the minute hand (and probably the seconds hand also) might be changed to a toller one (I've had to do it many times).

If I would be you, I will sell the new dial and buy an old one, according to the case ref. and age.

  8. I thought I read somewhere that the would not be doing any mods for those who had Joe perform mods for the min the past. I had Joe perform some mods for me in the past, which I thought turned out great - no complaints by me. I never got invovled in the tuffs between Joe and the world on this board and always gave kudos to those who did a kick ass job modding watches - Joe, The Zigmeister, Vac, Flav, Marrick, etc.

I have The Zigmeister as a clever guy, as well as honest, so I would never think that just because in the past you had some mods made by Joe he wouldn't accept you as a customer. I had some jobs (one) made by Joe and I stopped sending more because of what many of us know.

I'm happy you finally got it... great dial my friend! now we only need to see it installed...
