  1. Normally I like watches with plenty of buttons and dials and such however it occurred to me that I really should have at least one classy dress watch in my collection. So, give me some examples of what you think is a plain but classy looking dress watch. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, something similar to this: http://img.watcheden.net/products59eview/96/96154/20110521200608_69724.jpg
  2. One of these days I'll get a gen Breitling Navitimer. One of these days .....
  3. That does look nice. I'm a bit of a sucker though for things with lots of buttons and dials and stuff which is why I went for the 02.
  4. I decided to play it safe and buy a cheap version from Watcheden with whom I've had two good dealings previously. I'll post the results when it arrives. http://www.watcheden.net/bell-ross-br-instrument-diver-working-chronograph-pvd-case-with-black-dial-i-44462-p-1.html
  5. I decided to play it "safe" and go for a cheaper version from a place I've bought from before. http://www.watcheden.net/bell-ross-br-instrument-diver-working-chronograph-pvd-case-with-black-dial-i-44462-p-1.html If I really like it I may go for a more expensive version. If it turns out to be a piece of crap I'll use it to practice on with my new toolkit I just ordered from Watch Bitz.
  6. I live out in the bush so there is definitely not going to be anyone anywhere near me that will work on a rep watch. So, anywhere in Oz will do, I'd rather not be sending things overseas, apart from anything else it would probably get more expensive than the actual watch!
  7. Does anyone know of anyone in Australia that will do rep watch repairs/servicing/upgrades etc.? I've just ordered a toolkit from Watch Bitz but, until I play around with an old watch and get confident I'd like to know if there is somebody here I can send things to.
  8. When I tried to sign up for a year I clicked on the Paypal button and I got the Paypal stuff in Norwegian (I think). Now, I have nothing agains Norwegian, I'm sure it's a fine language and, no doubt, millions of Norwegians like it, but it's not my language. If I'm doing Paypal stuff I'd like to be able to read what is going on, which is a bit difficult if you can't understand Norwegian. Was this some sort of weird glitch? Is this normal? What is happening?
  9. If anyone has a Bell & Ross rep I would be interested in hearing about it. Was it good, bad or otherwise? I'm about to buy one and I'd like to hear any stories.
  10. I'm about to pull the trigger on this one. What do you guys think. Any/all comments welcome. http://www.1-pc8838.com/bo020011-br02-chrono-pvdru-numstk-asia-7750-sec3-p-5637.html .
  11. I know this might seem like a stupid question, but I'm new at this, be gentle. Which dealer is the 'Tony' mentioned in the first post? .
  12. Yes, yours sounds like it might have a similar movement to mine. I'll probably buy a more expensive one with a more realistic movement in it. As for which model I got, I'm not totally certain. The original one I ordered I was told was no longer available and I should send them 3 choices for a replacement. Without going back and looking at the pictures I'm not sure which choice I eventually got but it would be one of: 29770 29776 29765 I think it's probably the first one. In any case, they all probably have the dodgy movement and if you want a more realistic operation you're probably going to have to get one with a 7750 movement and they're up around the $250 to $350 mark as far as I can see.
  13. Ahh.. no I wouldn't use the search there if I were you. That doesn't work too well. Good for seeing the product and price though, once you get to where you want to be. Happy to hear about better places.
  14. Let me give you some free advice. I have been around for several decades and I can reliably inform you that, even for a highly intelligent and extremely well educated fellow like me, it is nt a grtea ide to postt aftedrin kin g svral glasters of red win ... hmmm
  15. It's nightime here mate, close to bed time for me. Maybe when I get back from the pub on Saturday ......
  16. I'll take some this weekend, assuming the camera cooperates.
  17. Something went wrong while I was posting. I have a very bad internet connection, I live out in the bush. Mods, feel free to delete this thread if you wish.
  18. I just tried to subscribe to VIP membership for a year and when I clicked on the Paypal button it came up in some weird language. What is going on here?

  20. I would be VERY interested in knowing where I could get hold of a good version. Feel free to PM me if you know and prefer to do it that way.
  21. My first Breitling rep arrived today, a navitimer. Wanted one of these for a long time. It was one of the cheap ones from Watcheden. They didn't have the one I originally ordered so got my second choice. Bit of a plug here for Watcheden, this is my second purchase from them and I have no complaints at all. Communications were good and the watch arrived about a week or so after they said they shipped it. I'm happy with that. Now, the watch. For the price I paid, $88 including free shipping, I'm pretty impressed. The case looks well made, no nasty sharp bits, everything looks aligned and the bezel moves very smoothly and is not at all loose. The buttons work well (more on this later) and I was able to pull the [censored] out fairly easily to adjust the time. This is in contrast to my first watch which is VERY hard to pull the [censored] out. The face looks good, the numbers and printing are sharp and crisp and the gold Breitling wings look very realistic. Much better than I thought it would be. The leather band looks well made and even the real stitching is reasonable. Obviously I haven't had it long enough to see how accurate it is. Now, the not so good news. From what I've read the following is not unexpected in a cheap rep but still a little disappointing. The big second hand just constantly sweeps around, it does not react to the buttons in a "stopwatch" mode like you would expect a chronometer to do. The buttons act on two of the three small dials on the face. The left dial has 7 2 5 on it and the top button causes the hand to rotate clockwise around this. I have no idea at all what this function might be for. The right dial has 12 4 8 on it and the bottom button causes the hand to rotate counter clockwise around it. Bizarre! The bottom dial indicates the hour in military time, that seems reasonable. Aside from the bizarre operation of the small dials and buttons I'm pretty happy with it for only $88. I think it looks great. I'm now going to look for one where everything works like it's supposed to, if such a rep exists!
  22. Just ordered my toolkit from Watch Bitz. Now the waiting part, I hate that bit. At least it's from Oz so I should not have the 6 to 8 week wait that overseas things seem to take!
