  1. Here is a link to a product I use. The multi level sand papers go to an ultra fine level and do a fine job on watches and finally there is a polishing cloth infused with Jewelers Rouge for the finish. The watch / band can be taped off for precision work on small areas. I am very happy with the results I get with this product. Cheers

  2. Well, I used to feel this way after I purchased my full gold rep daydate. The fact of the matter is, at least as I have discovered, very few people actually notice the watch you are wearing. Those who do notice, often accidentally glance on the word "Rolex". The average person does not know the difference between this and that Rolex. To them, rolex is "the most expensive and sought after watch." It's a sad reality, but even if I wore a genuine Girrard Perrewhateverthefu-- nobody would recognize the brand as a luxury item. Now, if the watch has a roulette or slot machine, people will think its neat regardless of the name.

I walk down the streets proudly wearing the below pictured $1,000,000+ watch and have received complements about its appearance on several occasions. No person whom I know has any idea what a "Patek philippe" is... and if they did, they could easily tell it is a fake. I wear it because it is a fun looking piece that indicates all of the calendar features I almost always forget....

Very well said Corgi - I second your sentiments - Cheers :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  3. Solid 18k gold Franck Muller Casablanca... they'll set you back $1700+ though. EL had them and Silix had some too (if you ask nicely)... otherwise there may not be any available. Solid gold won't give you the intrinsic problems with plated reps.

    If you can afford it...

Solid Gold outa my price range - I'm thinking $350 tops. Thanks though - Cheers

  4. Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone got a superocean rep from silix-prime?

what's the quality like compare to the $328 one or $160 one from Andrew's website??

    Many thanks,

    five :)

Use the search function and you will find your answer. Most questions you have about reps will be answered by a simple querry. The search function really is easy to use. Cheers

  5. A replica is a lie to begin with. There is not much truth in an industry predicated on a product that is a blatent lie.

Don't take this hobby too seriously. Your long winded post sounds like you are researching a major purchase of a fortune 500 company for hundreds of millions of dollars. Keep it simple. It is what it is and a replica is only a replica. Buy what you like and don't expect too much from it. If you need all of what you are asking for from a watch purchase, buy a genuine.

This hobby is fun and I see these watches as conversation pieces and novelties. It makes me happy to be part of a community that shares the same interests and is filled with wonderful people. The watches are a bonus.

Chill out, relax and buy something. Make your first purchase for around $200 so if you are dissapointed it won't be a major loss. Then once you recieve that package and slap the shiny new Submariner on your wrist, feel free to break out the digital calipers and start measuring the distance between tic marks.

Amen :thumbsupsmileyanim: Very well said - Cheers

  6. I ordered one of the vintage Subs from Silix, but, only because it was an easier (and cheaper) alternative than me trying to modify a contemporary Submariner case into something available circa 1953 (which is still my ultimate goal) If it wasn't for the fact that the case is without crown guards, I wouldn't've bought one. I'll definitely be replacing the bezel insert, and most likely replacing the dial as well, but, I don't mind paying that price for a case which is what I want 'out of the box', and saves me the hassle of grinding one down... Indeed, I be interested to know how many orders there were as well.

I purchased my two Silix Bond Subs for the same reason - I wanted the cases only for the starting point of my early Sub projects - I want to make a Turn-O-Graph and a Bond Sub. Cheers

  7. My two Subs arrived today - a nice starting point but work needs to be done - the bracelet is modern style with divers extension and saftey clasp and the bezel is modern style also with one direction racheting. I can work with these things - and the price is right. Cheers

  8. Most watches are derivative in their design which is not bad. It is that a beautiful watch to me is the first design from which most of the rest draw their style points. So I choose the first Rolex Sub as one of the most beautiful dive watches. I appreciate the simplicity of the design most as form does really follow function.

A beautiful derivative design is the Marathon SAR - I'll let the photo say it all on this one.

Finally, the Omega Planet Ocean is captivating in the way a stunningly beautiful woman is, people are drawn to look when I wear mine.
