  1. I like making a fresh cup every time I want one rather than making several cups in one pot. Even when I make coffee for guests I make individual cups, this way I can tailor strength to their preference. This is my maker of choice. I have 4 of them and can make up to four cups at a time with each a different type of coffee and a different strength. I use an old fashioned steam kettle to boil water.

  2. The Big Bang reps are so good that Hublot likely realized that they had a big problem - why spend 10 to 20 K for the real thing when a really darn good facsimile is available for 1 K - I can hear Warren Zevon singing " ... send lawyers guns and money the siht has hit the fan ..." and I am sure J.C. Bivier could too.

If this is the beginning of the super rep period I am sure there will be more of this kind of action by the gen companies against the rep makers in the future.

    Avoid death, label warns

    By AP

    DETROIT -- "Danger: Avoid Death."

That warning on a small tracor is the winner of the 11th annual "Wacky Warning Label Contest," sponsored by Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch.

The contest is part of an effort to show the effects of lawsuits on warning labels.

Kevin Soave of Farmington Hills, a Detroit suburb, won the $500 grand prize for submitting the tractor's label.

The $250 second place prize went to Carrianne, Jacob and Robby Turin of Greensburg, Penn., for a label they found on an iron-on T-shirt transfer that warns: "Do not iron while wearing shirt."

Richard Goodnow of Lancaster, Massachusetts, earned the $100 third-place prize for a label on a baby stroller featuring a small storage pouch that warns: "Do not put child in bag."

  4. So, I recently purchased a "perfect" Anniversary Sub from Andrew (trustytime) and brought it to a jewler. I made up a BS story about how I got the watch and asked him if it was genuine. My hope was that it would take him all the way till he opened the back to discover it was a rep.

Well, I handed him the watch, he looked at it for 2 or 3 minutes, and he handed it back to me and said "Its real...I dont even need to open it, I can tell by the look and feel, you have very generous family".

Just letting people know that a perfect looking sub does exist. It has so far kept great time, but I have not as yet tested its waterproofing.

Well supermoves you have made 29 posts on this forum ... congratulations ... I think it is time for you to spend some time reading and learning rather than sharing your wisdom for a while as taking a rep into Jeweler even if not an AD is just foolish and reckless. You hurt all of us with this kind of behavior. It brings unwanted attention to our Rep world. Perhaps you can learn from the posts on this thread and become a valued member of the forum.

  5. I was thinking specifically about Omegas, but there are several other brands as well, where you can get a preowned for $1000 or less. Why spend $200-$300 on a rep, when you could save up a little and get a preowned?

    Just curious..

Im not saying dont by a rep (In fact, I just bought one), but why buy a rep of the cheaper watches?

At two to three hundred each means three to five reps with out breaching the $1000 ceiling. If one breaks throw it away and get a new one. OR have just one used Omega. For me having multiple choices to wear every day is preferable over having just one to wear. JMO

  6. "Jacob Arabov, known among his celebrity clients as "Jacob the Jeweler," pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday to falsification of records and making a false statement to a federal agent in connection with a federal money-laundering investigation in Detroit that involved a drug ring" ...... source: europa star

Here is the link to the entire story:

This is becoming all too common ... sad ... very, very sad

  7. I like the watch and 10 micron gold plate is going to last many years. However, the ad state that plating is superior to rolled gold which I believe to be inaccurate. The old rolled gold watch cases usually had a thickness of gold from 20 to 40 microns and there was no discernible difference between the rounded parts of the case and the flat parts. I think that the ad that d.Freemont has written has used some creative license in describing the gold.

After all that I am thinking I might get one myself.

  8. Hey guys!!!

So everyone at uni has been busy looking/applying for summer internships at banks, etc. and I would absolutely love a summer internship (in London if possible!!) with a watch company, however....how do I go about this??

Breitling, Omega, Rolex, etc.....I've looked everywhere with no real success yet.

The only thing I found was the Swatch Group, and I emailed them right away.

I'm really interested in a Marketing/Advertising internship for my first year summer (find out how they go about their brand, attracting customers, keeping loyal ones, etc). I think it would be a fantastic experience and gets me into 'real world working' mode.

    Any ideas? Suggestions??

Thanks guys, hope all is well with you!!

Here is a link to watchuseek links page of watch manufacture websites. The companies will have contact info for email and also addresses for regular mail correspondence.

  9. Mind reader! Was about to post this question tomorrow. ;)

    For me:

    pierhublot1es4.jpg

A snooty restaurant "hostess" made me wait a while to be seated. I looked at my watch to ascertain if I had time to wait, flicking my wrist casually. When I looked up, she LITERALLY had her mouth wide open, staring at it.

God that felt good. The cow.

As much as it is Cliche - the best revenge is living well ! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  10. I am for a deployant for most but do not like the Panerai deployants as I find them too bulky. This is just a personal taste thing on my part as I just prefer my Panerai watchers on a tang buckle. I like the Breitling deployant but prefer the generic double deployant push style for overall comfort.

  11. $400 tops for me as well. But it'll better be the best f*cking rep in Christendom and it must perform fellatio for that price. Any more and the fun's gone. I think that super reps at super prices are an exercise in futility. It has been proven what can be done at the lower price bracket so any increased prices is just profiteering.

Very well said ... I share your sentiment. Cheers
