  1. It takes a lot of time, and I mean A LOT OF TIME, to do a review properly. It is a little disheartening to see 75 views and 1 response. I make it a point to try and add a little something to nearly every thread that I visit, just as a common courtesy.

Please guys, your opinions, positive or negative, are just as important as a review itself. By-Tor may have a good opinion on a watch, but he is just one person, and endorsements or disagreements from other owners help to paint a clearer picture!

    Very well said - Cheers

  2. Okay, so I'm going to Vegas tomorrow for four days, and I need suggestions. I will be going to a nice restaurant one night, and possibly a show another........casual clothes the rest of the time tho......I have in my limited collection: Omega Seamaster pro black...Omega Railmaster XXL in SS on brown leather......Omega UPO....(kinda like Omegas I guess).....Omega AT in blue face SS....Breitling SOSF in blue face SS....and last but not least....Chopard Grand Tourismo white face with black rubber.........so I know you guys (and gals) have opinions,....so lets hear em!

The Railmaster should be able to cover you for the whole trip but just in case you feel like a change bring along the Breitling SOSF. - Cheers

  3. I'm looking at some of the ebay listings for Omega Speedmasters.. Perhaps I'm not aware of the differences in years/models for some of the genuine stuff, but some of these images on ebay look fake to me..

    for example..

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Authentic-Omega-Speedm...1QQcmdZViewItem

Are all the 5min interval lines on the dial suppose to be of the same length ? I notice subtle differences, but at least the casing is real !?

How hard would it be for someone just to put on a new casing, back cover, etc, to make it look authentic and pass it off as real ?

Re-casing is a common enough practice. In the rep world we call those Franken watches. In gen world they are just called fakes. On eBay it is buyer beware. Unless you know what and whom you are dealing with very well - eBay is a risky place to shop.

  4. is there a safe way to pry the back off without the neccesary tools? that way we can see for sure...Also do andrews daytonas have 'thin' or 'fat' hands? and does he do COD?

No "Prying off the back". .... Put on a pair of rubber gloves and twist off the back of the watch. The rubber glove will give you the needed grip to twist off the back.

Stick around this forum and you will learn many things about the rep world: ..... Number 1: there are no Swiss made reps - Number 2 if Blue Fakes lies about having Swiss made reps you can expect that they will lie about many other things including selling a Daytona rep with a genuine Zenith movement for $300.

Andrew's Daytonas have both thin and fat hands depending on which Daytona version you want to buy.

Try using the search function for a while as you will find most of the answers to questions already posted by someone.

    Cheers

  5. I have been searching for a vintage Blancpain 50 Fathoms rep for ages. No luck whatsoever. I have found a most beautiful homage watch of the vintage 50 Fathoms and would like to share this with anybody else into the Blancpain dive watch. I have always believed the vintage 50 Fathoms to be the most beautiful dive watch made from a style standpoint. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The company making this watch is called MIIK and the watch is called the Stingray. It prices out between $550 and $800 depending on features selected so it is not cheap. I am not affiliated with this company and receive no compensation for sharing this.

Here is a photo of the Stingray - 50 Fathoms homage:

And here is the link to their web site:

  6. Stephane's point is about contribution. The question is whether we as members of this forum should offer up earned knowledge to somebody who has contributed nothing to the body of knowledge and the financial support of this board. The information that UB7 wanted is available for the taking, all that is required is a little bit of work on his part. The search function will give answers and it does not require an upgrade to VIP status for it to work.

Silence to a Newbies request for answers from the membership is not rudeness. I would suggest that it is rude to simply enter into a forum and make personal requests of people you do not know or do not know you. For security purposes it should be required that Dealer info never be given to non VIP members. However, that is not my call to make. I encourage you to think about the future of this board when giving away the "keys to Kingdom for free" and remember that for it to survive we all must contribute. Cheers

  7. Raijor, did you get any PM from Ub7 ?

    I have received 2.

He is questionning about where can I get the same as yours (Vip feature), fat or not fat hands on a Daytona, and so on

I'm sorry but maybe one should say at least

"Hello I'm a newbie and want to learn.

I am prepared to read for hours instead of posting 20 questions on my first day'

    Don't you think so ?

Or should we just share all the knowledge of this board with non contributing members on day 1?

    Stephane

I completely agree with you Stephane. I remember when I came to the board for the first time. I was advised politely to try out the search function and most of my questions would find answers. Also, upgrading to a VIP membership would offer even greater benefits. One VIP members posted to another newb questions that "you are not going to get the keys to the Kingdom without contributing to the community" ...He was referring to the need to ante up and upgrade to VIP status. Upgrading to VIP status should always be encouraged of new members and it should be encouraged frequently and that opportunity comes up whenever they ask a question. What the new members do not appreciate is the value that is found in discovering that pretty much all they want to know is already posted somewhere on the board and it is just a simple matter of finding it. Becoming a VIP member will immediately provide access to all the vetted dealers on this site. That alone has to be worth the price of admission. Some people are lazy and want everything just given to them but many are willing to become participants in the community and support the board through postings and financially by upgrading to a VIP membership. We need to show that there is value in becoming a VIP member by speaking about it whenever a newb posts asking for info on this or that or PM's for the same. Thanks for bringing this up Stephane. Cheers

  8. Yep! Cause that's how we qualify folks here. Post count!

    "Veterans"?!? You're kidding....right?

Oops. My bad. Inside of 2 months is noob. 2 1/2 whole months like you have.....veteran!!

We sure have! That first 90 days is one hell of a ride!

Something tells me the "attitude" isn't new....just a different venue.

I am unsure why you posted this - your tone is unfriendly and the post offers nothing helpful to the new member. VB was only sharing and trying to be helpful. If you have an issue with her personally perhaps a PM would be better than posting it. Cheers

  9. I just got a Daytona SS with a zenith 31 jewel movement and the chrono @ 6 works perfectly, however I am interested in purchasing a 2 tone and I see that this 'andrew' fellow supplies phenominal reps. How do I get in touch with him? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    UB7 Welcome to the board.

You will find that this forum will provide you a wealth of knowledge on the subject of reps. Keep in mind that the information you recieve comes at a cost to some. I refer to the people who own and run this board. After you feel comfortable with the idea of contributing the option of upgrading your membership to VIP status will offer you even more than you currently experience and your financial contribution will go a long way to keeping the board up and running as a very useful resource in the future.

Also, you may want to give the search function a workout - I have found it very useful.

Come back and post often. Cheers

  10. It should be simple for people to figure out the value of this forum. Just think to the first Aha moment you had reading a post here. Remember how easy it is to get a question answered or to find a part or just the right watch for just the right price on this forum. The forum and the people who run it need help now and it is time for people who have not donated but have benefited to ante up. It does not have to be a big donation but if members who come here and gain so much without having given anything financially would give just a little that would likely be enough. I have seen that it is the same people pulling the wagon all the time so at the risk of pissing people off I am calling the free riders out. Give now! Cheers
