  1. Im a big Porschephile, mostly aircooled, although Im warming up to the 997, cos it looks a bit like the 993. The 356 is my "holy grail", hence my name. Steve is the ultimate definition of coolness, and also a porsche aficionado. (the tao of steve). So I put the two together.

    Heres Steve's 57 speedster

  2. I am a Parrot head living my life in the slow lane now..... no hurries ... no worries ... no troubles ... A Parrot head is the name for a serious Jimmy Buffet fan. Sometimes, I wonder how my life turned out the way it did and I am amazed how lucky I am. I have been very fortunate in my life and live with an attitude of gratitude. Every new day I wake up is a gift and I try to do good in my small world. Be a good husband ... be a good father ... be a good son ... be a good friend... Peace be with you.

    My life in a song

    Defying Gravity

I live on a big round ball

I never do dream I may fall

And even one day if I do

Well I'll jump up and smile back at you

I don't even know where we are

They tell me were circling a star

Well I'll take their word, I don't know

But I'm dizzy so it may be so

I'm riding a big round ball

I never do dream I may fall

And even the high must lay low

But when I do fall I will be glad to go

Yes when I do fall I will be glad to go

  3. I just checked on that HBB Tuiga and it's almost a grand!!! Ok, I know this might be a bit of a tangent, but where do you guys draw the line for reps? I mean for that money you "could" get yourself a pretty nice gen.

$300 +/- is the upper end of what I will spend on a rep. That may change to about $600 +/- if I decide to buy the Platinum Big Bang. I purchased the Ice Bang Lite from Silex and am very happy with the watch. It grows on me daily. It lacks the flash of the Plat BB but that is why I went for it. I wanted the PVD understated look. It still gets sideways looks from people. The Quality of the fit and finish is excellent . I know nothing about the accuracy of the Ice Bang to the Gen but as a stand alone rep it is beautiful.

  4. What is this one officially called again? And which sellers sell it? And can anyone post a link to them? I only have a link to one site, and Hublots are not sold there.

Personally, I like the rose gold HBB, but the gen costs more than my car, so I've avoided buying it. I wish the sellers would also list a gen MSRP next to all the models sold, then you could make better purchasing decisions.

Also, I looked online for the gen of this one, and the 1st thing I noticed was that the numbers appear to be a navy blue, but all the gen pictures show the numbers to be black(!).

    Thanks,

Getting the Gen prices of Reps is easily obtained by doing a web search of the watch you are interested in. There are many Gen watch sellers who have sites up on the net with prices.

  5. I am told the prootype is already made and the Ceramic GMTII is slated to hit the sellers by April 08 end.

That would be fantastic but we have been down this road before. It was last summer that news of the GMT with ceramic bezel first came out with proposed launch in Sept 07, then it was pushed back to Oct 07, then the new year and now the end of April 08. Can you share where you heard this?

  6. I feel that question is too forward and does not deserve to be answered. My wife can ask that, my children can ask that and my closest friends can ask that and I will answer them truthfully. But that is my approach to life. I have my team and then there is everybody else.

That kind of question is very similar to "How much money do you make? or "Is it paid for?". I do not believe that the whole world has the right to my life information. When did casual acquaintances become our judges? I have not been asked that question about a rep but if I were I would simply ignore the question and the person. I mean why bother let anybody put you in a position of explaining or defending your life choices? It is your life and if it makes you happy to wear a rep get on with it and enjoy yourself.

  7. Why is it that the rep makers get closer and closer in accuracy to the gen and then decide to remove something like the SWISS MADE (at 6)? It seems such an obvious givaway that it is a rep, unlike the older MBWs etc which had it.

I believe that the rep makers do not want to make a completely accurate rep. I think it is as simple as that.

  8. I have been on both shipping and receiving sides where a watch just never showed up. No box - nothing. Both were international shipments one from Canada to England and one from Europe to Canada. I do not think that insurance can be purchased for a rep as insurance requires complete and full disclosure and in most jurisdictions replicas are not legal. However, I am not certain of this. As to whether loss is a problem through shipping - I think it is a bigger problem than the shipping companies of which I include the post offices, FedEx, Purolater and UPS want us to know about. Where there are people handling shipped goods there will be theft. The declaration on the package whether listing a high or low price is the trigger. It is likely the labeling of the contents as "watch parts" or "watch" that draws the attention of the thief. Easy to pocket stuff and easy to sell on eBay later. I think that it is just a Numbers game and eventually we just experience a loss after a certain number of shipments. I chalk it up to the price of trading with far away places. It burns but I see no solution.

  9. Nice. I love it when the rep factories "play jazz" and just make whatever they feel like.

Has anyone else seen the Glycine Airman rep's animated movement? I saw a photo of it a while back in an online catalog, I wish I had saved it. Probably just a case of the manufacturer using whatever movement was lying around in that approximate size, but it featured a randy rascal ravaging a wanton wench. Pretty hilarious on the back of a big businesslike pilot's watch.

    Brilliant

  10. Save yourself a lot of suffering and accept that often times the rep you buy will not live up to expectations. For example rep lume is pathetic. If you can not live with poor lume on your rep you will have to pay for re-luming. On the other hand manufacturing defects should and can be fixed by having the dealer replace your watch. I have never been satisfied with the ratcheting feel and the click sound any Rolex rep I have had. It always comes across as cheap. My solution is and was to freeze my Sub and Yacht-Master bezels. No movement is better than poor movement for me. Essentially, I believes reps are compromises ... so I accept compromises. I would ask for your dealer to have that watch fixed or replaced. My 2 cents. Happy collecting.

  11. TTK has asked me to let the members here know that he will NOT be visiting RWG for the purpose of collecting his PMs. Needless to say that the recent events have soured him on this place, and that he does not wish to enter the site again. If you have outstanding issues with the group buy he has asked that you contact him at RepGeek with details.

    @TT, thanks for trying.

That is just really mature on his part. Rather than make an effort to ensure that things go smoothly for his customers after complaining that he could not get information from his messages on RWG he turns down an opportunity to get that information. He is making these poor people who have paid him in good faith for nothing so far jump through even more hoops. What a piece of work. <_<

  12. hey everyone! Its been awhile, but I am in the all-too-familiar 'waiting' stage of having a rep in transit. I haven't shipped anything like this or jewelery over the boarder in quite some time. I know fellow Canadians used to detest UPS when it came to these and our choosy custom laws, since we would incur excessive "brokerage/customs" fees upon delivery of the item.

Imagine waiting an extra 2 days for the item to clear customs, and then when the item is finally waiting for your signature, you have to pay another percentage based off the items "WORTH"........ i think in the land of replica watches, this could be quite a grey area, no? even on things such as USED BOOKS, ppl have been known to pay more than the items cost, just to finally get them.

Are any of u still getting gouged by UPS when it comes receiving these or any other shipments? I'm just hoping for no surprises as I forgot to inform the seller to mark the package as a warranty-repair item

Feedback, experiences, advice? Post it up!

Yes UPS charges high brokerage in Canada

  13. wholly smokes this thread is on fire.

but just a question from another newb.. regarding paypal.

paypal can't allow you to list the word "watch" in the sales description? Is "timing device" or "timer" ok?

... back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Do not say anything related to watch. Paypal will stomp on a seller and keep his money if it decides he was engaged in a sale of a replica watch. Put in your subject whatever the seller requests.

  14. I have done business with Chinese manufactures importing a variety of items made for my company on an OEM basis. My advice to anybody buying is to know your contacts. If you can not go there yourself have an agent you can trust do it for you. My first experiences were learning ones and it took several attempts to locate and establish relationships that I felt I could rely on. Also, it takes a very long time to build a relationship where you could feel comfortable trading on a person's word. In the end the best deal is not always the "best" deal. Best of luck.
