Women's shot put is going to be great... such hotties!
-
Ditto, only 42mm PO interests me. Milgauss and DeepSeaDweller... nope. Classic SeaDweller... yes. But it's not realistic to except any more versions.

Blue TT Sub is a bit too much for me, but I agree this is a great rep, if the bracelet is the same one as on THIS. Best TT Sub without a doubt.

Thinking that there is some kind of "hidden grail" of super-reps somewhere, that our dealers can't source, has been proved wrong many times. Even the hyped WM9 has been proven to use the exact same case of the MBK (by Tribal). I agree that there can be different sources... some of the scam sites (like Idealwatches) actually shipped decent reps in the old days. They weren't standard TW models, they had different dials and some other details. But absolutely "PERFECT vintage" reps, with perfect case construction and dials... "super reps" that suddenly pop out of nowhere... no way! Like Pugs said, those pics looks like they have been taken from Antiquorum.

Still the gen GMT. I doubt I'll change before the weekend anyway.

Rolex Daytona rep 7750 asain Or something else ?
By-Tor replied to lotsofgears1's topic in The Rolex Area
Have you tried the chrono? Unscrew the stopwatch button (upper one) and start the stopwatch. Does it function ok? I'm just curious because this rep was available as a "frozen stopwatch" version. And I agree with Freddy, throw that box away... it looks awfully fake. -
Rolex Daytona rep 7750 asain Or something else ?
By-Tor replied to lotsofgears1's topic in The Rolex Area
Your watch most likely has the Asian 7750 seconds at '6 in it. Read this. PS: Welcome to the forum! -
Just for the record: the old Rolex GMT I didn't have an adjustable hour hand... nothing was possible to set independently. The second timezone function was only operated from the rotating bezel.
-
There has never been a genuine Rolex with independently adjustable 24 hour hand. This is a replica "faux" GMT modification only... all real GMT watches use an adjustable hour hand. The 24 hour hand can, of course, be set from the hacking position (the last crown position)... where it moves along (in sync) with the hour hand.

Took my 16710 to the local AD yesterday. I wanted to swap a brand new Pepsi insert on it... it came with red/black. You know what... the change + insert was only 35 Euros!!! And they sell the gen inserts on Ebay for 100 Euros!!! And when I asked if I can keep the old insert the guy looked surprised and said "Of course, why not?" On top of that they did it in 10 minutes and gave me a brand new Rolex catalog. The bad thing... when I asked about the basic service cost, the guy quoted 400 Euros.

Unfortunately that's not my picture/Photoshop job guys. It's just a web find.
-
Perfect depth but maybe a bit wokky?
-
It's really, really bad and inaccurate replica. Stay away. Wait for tomorrow... there's something coming for you... a review for all rep Pepsi GMT fans. I promise it'll be worth reading.
-
Indeed. Quite amazing. Another for the Breitling Guide. I will update it soon... so many Breitlings and reviews. Keep 'em coming guys... these are just what keeps the forum rolling!

Once again guys: Regarding watch photos... camere means about 5% (MAX). 85% is about lighting and 5-10% is about the post-processing skill. When you do photo compositions and use layers, for example, the post-processing skill plays a bigger role of course. I have shot watch pics with very expensive, top class cameras and with just standard Canon Powershot. There was virtually ZERO difference between the quality of my shots, providing the light was sufficient and properly spread around the lightbox. It doesn't matter how good camera you buy, if you're not willing to practice and figure out the lighting. Just like buying an expensive Adidas soccer ball won't make you Diego Maradona (and automatically give you his drug and weight problems).

That's a nice SSD man. I really mean it. Much better than the one that was posted to TZ. The moron who posted the pics should first learn to some mods. ...and of course choose the correct angle and lighting for his photo. Sorry man... couldn't resist.
-
Aren't we a bit touchy here? It looks like you get "fired up" very easily. Why don't you just chill out man... this is supposed to be fun.
-
Hey Dutchy, welcome back and congrats for your 2000th!!!

People at the gen forums aren't usually very good at spotting reps. The collectors and WIS spot them, but 90% of the members don't. Of course they're not even excepting to see them... at least not on regular basis. A bit different here.
-
@JohnG: I think SSD gets a lot of crap from many, because it was in production for ages. Angus asked all kinds of advice during its making from the membership, but then he disappeared and many things were left half-assed. The exceptations were super high, because promises and the hype around the SSD were probably the biggest around ANY Rolex replica ever. We really tried to help, we offered him (and the factory) the advice and consultation but no... they went and released it with many fundamental flaws. I managed to get the smaller crown installed on it. You should have seen how huge the crown was on the initial release candidate. Maybe the exceptations were too high, and most of the veteran Rolex guys here were very disappointed. These reasons (that I described above) probably caused some kind of frustration towards that particular rep. Part of the membership accepted it with all its faults, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It was the best SeaDweller replica, and it still is. But membership went with the hype, called it 1:1 and "most accurate Rolex replica ever" and all that... which has nothing to do with reality. This hype is still going on, for unknown reasons. Stephane received one and wanted to compare it to his gen, but decided against it... he said it's so far off of the gen (by our extremely ANAL standards) that it wasn't even funny. He didn't want to make the review because everyone were so happy with their new SSD's. Me? I just post what I see... I always have. I have reviewed a lot of my inaccurate reps and gave them a honest but sometimes "brutal" treatments. That being said, I would have made the SSD review without a doubt. If someone takes my opinions personally, it's his problem. I'm not afraid to say (sometimes harshly) if I don't like a rep. Why would I? It's just a rep. I will continue to do so... I try not to swallow the hype, look at the facts and give as honest (and objective) opinions of the reps for the membership as I can. I'm not saying that SSD can't be a great rep, it absolutely can... it's just not terribly accurate (imho)... especially by 2008 standards. Feel free to disagree my opinions though... I don't take that personally, either. Of course I'm not always right. But don't come here with your guns blazing and trying to stir up trouble. It's not going to work.

Thanks for the compliments man. But regarding the value... you're completely wrong if you think the prices will drop, and the history proves it. The 16710 prices are going to skyrocket. Ask any Rolex reseller... 1675 prices have increased 150% in merely a year... and while the sapphire models aren't as "collectible" yet, the 16710 is still out of production it will increase in value, rapidly. This is already apparent when you go to Ebay and compare the prices to what they were 6 months ago, but I predict in 3-4 years the prices are going up a lot. And that's exactly why I bought mine now. Same applies to the classic 16600 and 16570.
-
Soon, soon. I'm a fast typer but not THAT fast. @Nanuq: Thanks mate, I could use a 1675 like yours to keep this company. Maybe one day, maybe one day...
-
That's a rep, and not very good one at that. Look at the wonky, cheap ass SELs, bad (thin) rehaut, bad pearl, bad bezel, bad datefont, bad everything. Looks like the Chinese "Super" SeaDweller to me.
-
Thanks for all compliments. Much appreciated guys! I will make a rep vs. gen comparison. I can already say that LOTS of people will be surprised. Watch this space closely! Meanwhile, enjoy this dark photo with some lume goodness. Double click for full size.
