  1. there is no thread I would rather make my 300th post in. I am in awe of the amazing timepieces that you all tease me with.

my "great white" is on its way back from canada as we speak, but it is not nearly as "great" as yours bytor.

mez, once my "great white" exp II is done I will be hitting you up for some pointers on my next great white. then I will be a happy camper

thanks for all the great advice and pics guys... I really enjoyed my first year here.

  2. @the mentalist, I completely agree that the new DSSD is 100% rolex. I just don't think the aesthetic design is a very good one. my AD should have one the day they are availble.

I do like how they beefed up the datejust line. there is something very tasteful in the way they grew parts of the case. again just my thoughts...

  3. ok so I'm buying a DSSD... can anyone help me with my list of mods?

    - fix the crown guards

    - polish the [censored] off the rehault

    - noob dial

    - watchmaster insert

    anything else?

breitling made a watch capible of 10000ft and made it look a breitling, and look good at the same time. rolex designers seem to have gotten lost in their concept. their end product is just not balanced.

and you may think the ym2 is ugly, and I would agree with you. but the new movement is an amazing achievement from what I understand. maybe someday the movement will live in a tasteful case.

    just my thoughts....

  4. @dvn, when the natick store opened, they pulled all thier best vintage pieces from surrounding stores for the opening. they had every vintage rolex you could imagine. it was amazing. I was just there last sunday. put my upo in my pocket. i tried on a few pieces. the sales man said "you must wear something big" as he looked at my watch tan. i said yea, a planet ocean big size. he smiled, said very nice dive watch. have you ever considered a seadweller? I told him I owned a very similar watch, but its not an everyday kinda watch.

on a side note, i went into another Tourneau and asked to purchase a pro diver strap. he asked what i was going to wear it on and I said my seiko diver. I told him i hated the seiko band and loved my buddies prodiver, and wanted to buy one.

they ordered it, and that was that. well thats my bit... good luck

  5. great shots, I own a very similar piece, but with an eta. the biggest flaw is the etched crown. as far as I can research, the gen has no etched crown in the crystal. I love the exp I. I wear mine ona nato strap. maybe someday I will try to find a better crystal for it. other than that its railmaster good...

thanks for the post and the pics. wear it well.
