Beautiful skin... I mean straps.

I wonder how your buys are choosen....?
Intuitive thoughts first and then the forum does some work...

Thank you so much for your compliments.
I feel that my projects would get nowhere without this forum and of course, without all of you.
Major credit should go to the talent of the watchsmiths that have been helping me all along, not to me.
But I believe we can go together much further... as for recent projects I am starting on with Angelus mvmts and hand made vintage like dials...
I will post as soon as I have any progress.
Hats off to Rolli. A real gentleman and some distance ahead of us on vintage projects!
All the best,
M.

What a nice project! Looks a killer to me!!!
Can you explain me the part involving Lays Ketchup potato chips?!?

M.

Oh my god!!! pink straps...

Can't tell if it's 44mm or 47mm...I'd suspect Sly to not have the biggest of wrists.
must be a 47 otherwise he would wear it on the index finger...

you need a very good taste for " less is more "
As an architect I know what you mean by that...

This background photo reminds me of Isabella Rosselli, or even Louise Brooks...
a true vintage look...
BTW congratulations Rolli for stepping ahead all of us on vintages. And thank you also for the photo database. I am browsing slowly... and rooling at some rare pics I never saw anywhere!

Hey R.
Thats AMAZING what you did to the two first dials.
I was never able to achieve such results!
Congratulations. I am drooling...

Congratulations.

Nothing much to worry about. Remove the hands and the dial, then carefully dissasemble the keyless works, by undoing the crown stem screw fully, first. It's actually not that hard and it sounds you have a basic know how about 6497 mov'ts already. Just be careful with the K-W spring, don't loose that one as it can snap out of the place quite easily.
You will need a decent pair of tweezers to do the work...and a lot of coffee
babola
Congratulations for your work.
I totally agree with Babola advice except the part that involves the ingestion of coffee.
You will need steady hands to disassemble the keyless works!
Cheers,
M.

Hey Tourby,
very impressive... keep us updated!

You are right. Good luck with it!

It may be more economical to simply pay someone to assemble the watch for you.
Assembling this watch from scratch, having to grind down pinions, cutting and fitting the stem, crystal install, casing, etc... is a lot for someone to take on who has no knowledge of watchsmithing.
RG
I totally agree.
Even if you feel capable of doing the needed surgeries by yourself is better to let them be made by the hands of a professional...

I believe thats the famous Guille's project. It has a couple of years but I remember this project had a lot of investment.
You can read about it on the risti. Search under Guille.
However for such an investment the crown is far from accurate, the work on the CG is not anywhere near perfect and The case set used on this is from a regular RXW tribute watch.
It may be a good investment... but not for me.

You are both right guys!
But only now I have a proper Angelus mvmt so I will go slowly on this one...
New year... new projects.

... thinks they're UGGLEE too.
Hey Victoria,
You may have to change of boyfriend (I do not mind :-)) but please do not give up on that sexy pair of Uggs...

But hey. I love pizza!
I also do love pizza but like to slice it with my bare hands... no need to detach a rep crown to do it!
-
skinnya$s crown.
you could slice pizza with it....

I love my watches, but I don't want to look like this one day:
Dear God!!!!
Is that contageous?!? I fear for the pearls...

I thank you all for the compliments about my 3646!
I will surely communicate that to my watchsmith who owns major credits for my projects... maybe that can soften him up! He has such a bad temper...
I just do not understand why suddendly all the interest went to the 3646.
IMHO this 6152 is my (our, in fact) major achievement... dont you agree?
Thats why I brought this topic back from the dead...
A wonderful 2008 to you all!

Submersible advice needed - 087 etc
in The Panerai Area
Posted
I have bought a 087 "La bomba" rep recently from Chronology1066 (thanks Les for a wonderful deal!) on RC.
I believe its from the first batch but it was modded by Mark (Finepics).
Actually I was told it was his watch. Again, his work on the dial is quite impressive!
As you all know I only have eyes for vintage watches and to own a contemporary it must be very simple like the regular Luminors or Radiomirs. No chronos or other extra functions.
I shot on this one thinking I would regret later but in fact I am hooked to it!!!
My overall impression on the watch is very positive.
However its a bit heavy and bulkier than the regular 44mm models. Feels like a 47mm on the wrist and a double weight.
If you are looking for an elbow dislocation you should go definitelly for this one.
The dial blue is similar in tone to the gen but the later have a kind of mettalic reflex as far as I remember.
best,
M.
