Uh.. Did you not just here Legend say take it to the sales corner?! :lol2: :lol2:

Thank you but I guess there may have been a misunderstanding here.

And maybe I was responsible for that - If so, my apologies.

This is not a sale or trade post, I only manifested my will of letting the 3646 go.

I am around for very long and I know the rules of the forum.

In case I decide for it for sure I will do it in the proper way, announcing it in the sales / trade section.

Regarding your quote, I do not know Legend or Altesporsche - in fact it is almost a decade from my last contribution on the forum and except Ross, Rolf, Alex and Bob (and maybe a few veterans more) most of the old guard members seem not to be longer around - but if somehow my remark did generate any uncomfortable situation, please do accept my apologies.

Anyway, I think there should be more interesting things to interact about, like the process behind the results, techniques and / or the watches themselves.

Probably thats the major difference I notice here, compared to 10 years ago.

    Best,

    M.

I have seen 'military forgeries' made to sell on eBay as genuine but no ready made military replicas.  Were the watches in the pictures ready made or projects?  I was just wondering.

The problem is it has a non running 7 jewel Durowe movement with plastic balance jewels.  I am looking for a similar 17 jewel Durowe 7410 movement to put in it without spending much $$.  Some had the 7j movement, some had the 17j movement.

    Hi Automatico.

Thank you for posting and for the info.

These are ready mades and imho very well produced.

As far as I have understood - I bought both from a "franken" seller in Saigon - they are produced in Laos, Thailand and Vietnam on small factories relying mostly on Russian and Japanese buyers.

These are not common reps but one can find them with the right contacts...

One can also find a vintage Tdor Red Ranger (like the ones sold as genuine in ebay) or other oddballs like a vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris rep...

The market and the range of reps are quite different and imho much more refined than the known standards of the common sources like Taiwan, China or Korea.

Its a market for collectors and some of these watches are referred as "hand made":)

Unfortunately I cannot be of great assistance with the mvmt you are looking for, but I can ask around and if something surfaces I will surely let you know.

    Cheers,

    M.

If anyone is on the fence about our seller, take it from me... this is one of the good guys.  Marco has been around since day one and he's trustworthy.

Thank you so much for the reference Nanuq! I really did appreciate it. Cheers my friend. :)

  4. Thanks guys :)

(...and I only manifested my interest in trading the 3646 for a 1016; I am around since March 2006 and I know the rules - anyway accept my apologies if communicating the intention feels somehow out of place)

  5. I always loved the FF elegance.

I bought a DSN rep (Tornek Rayville) back in 2007; finding it too far out of the minimal standards to call it an homage.

Found later the "Phong" version but was far off my budget.

That version always stayed in mind though.

Two months ago I had a business meeting in Hanoi and ending it earlier than expected I went for a long walk, as I always do.

A couple of watchsmith stalls on the way around the central lake and I find a motorbike repair garage with some "old" watches on display.

All franken; a red ranger, an IWC marked with a king´s arrow dial, some Hamiltons and a black leather pouch branded Bl*ncp*in.

I asked to check the pouch and could not believe what was inside.

I was asked 4.500.000 VND (around 200USD) pouch included and did not even think of negotiating.

The nato strap was cheap and green and it wrinkled between the lugs (lug space is 19mm and strap was 20mm).

The watch stopped one week after my return.

Mvmt ( A.S Cal. AS1361 as informed by my watchsmith) was dry and full of dirt.

This is the "Phong" FF, with a big difference; the price.

After service the whole damage was around 320USD.

    Its a beautiful, beautiful watch.

I had one of the luckiest walks ever.

  6. Definitely a desk clock for me.

No wrist time, especially the 3646.

If anyone is interested its a 3 piece case (prototype) a 3 layer anodised dial and a cortebert cal.616 with rlx engravings.

I can consider a trade if anyone has a decent modded vintage Explorer 1016 to let go.

    Thanks!

  7. Yes.

    Game over for me.

These projects were started in 2005 and have now 12 years in the making.

Results can't get better than this.

Investments were serious in time, sourcing, mod and a gathering of skills, not only mine (thank you Stephan, thank you Gordon, thank you Ross).

6152, with old eb. Cortebert / Rolex, cal. 618 (among other special features as a 1/1 double bezel custom made etc..)

3646, with old eb. Cortebert / Rolex, cal. 616

    2533, Idem

Photos are crappy, but I am not very good at it.

After all these years the irony is, I find each one of them huge and less and less wrist time.

I am considering to let go of the 3646 for a grail vintage Phong Blancpain FF no rad dial.

In the meantime enjoy and Merry Christmas to all.

A big cheers to all the mod pioneers that shared along the way and to the friends I made here from 2004 on.
