  1. It's a 111N - H-Factory. I'm going to see if the vendor is willing to fix it and how much it would cost.
  2. The dial is fine, or at least I think so. I can't see where the paint chips are coming from. The movement is just "stuck". Dunno if something got slightly ajar or if it got bent - I couldn't see anything. The pin holding the bracelet to the watch is definitely broken, but I'm thinking I might ebay it. Maybe it would be the easiest to just ebay a new movement? No idea if it's hard work to fit the dial on a new movement considering the seconds being in a separate spot.
  3. The other day the pin holding the bracelet to the watch broke, and the watch fell to the floor. Apparently it must have been a pretty hard hit, even though it didn't seem that way. Now the watch will wind up, but not tick. On top of that some paint got loose and got stuck on the dial - but I guess that's an easy fix. I've only worn it 20-25 times or so, so it feels pretty rotten to just throw it away. It's still $300 or close to it. I do have tools to open it up, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to PAMs. What would be the best route to fix this? ANY tips gratefully accepted.
  4. Very nice! It looks awesome! If I had seen that before doing my franken, I would have tried doing it without epoxy as well though - although I think mine sits firmly. The "hole" left when removing the rep tube had threads, so I got some extra grip there I guess. Still - it would have been much nicer to fit it like you did. I see you decided to go the Seagull route as well. Happy so far? I still have the rep crystal on mine. Definitely more of a blue reflection. Did you feel it made much of a difference apart from the color?
  5. Agreed - I'm more of a dressy guy than anything else and I feel that the AT fits me quite well. I've always loved swimming laps, and scuba diving for that matter, but since it's a Seamaster it's not a problem - but it's still dressy/elegant. I know I'm in a minority here, but I like the ATs better than any other Omegas out there, including the POs. While I'm not looking forward to an AT explosion among young men, like after some of the other Bond movies, I do hope it will get the factories going. They can't all be doing Panerais, right?
  6. Looking forward to the pictures as well. I'm getting the cartel asso with my 390 any day now, and it would be interesting to know if it's worth it to replace it with Kuvarsit's asso. Also, what leather conditioner did you use? Anything special? The result is remarkable.
  7. Thank you for posting it! I still don't know which I like the best though
  8. It's really good that you are happy with your new watch and that you are more than satisfied with your dealer. But as for recommending him when the watch you received is "not the same watch at all" that you saw in the QC pics... I dunno.
  9. There's a real difference when I wind my ST2130 and my 2824.1(don't ask me why I got a .1 and not a .2) in my PO compared to my 2846 that's in my AT. The latter has almost no resistance and no sound but the other two are/were pretty hard to wind - with both the sound and resistance of one of those little wind up toys I had as a kid. I much prefer the feel of the 2846 when winding it. As for the Seagull, I got it on an Ebay auction but I'm sure it's possible to get them cheaper. I have a friend in Macao and I thought I'd ask him and see if he could get a hold of a few, but he's out of the country for a month more or so.
  10. A while back I asked the girl I'm seeing at the moment which watch she liked best; my blue hands Aqua Terra, my Planet Ocean or my 111. She replied with "I don't know really - they are very similar"... At least I won't have to worry if I stay with her. As for the watches - it bothers me a bit if they stop and I've considered getting a winder. At the same time, it feels odd having a winder go 24/7. The Panerai hasn't stopped since I got it, even though I've rarely used it.
  11. It very much sounds like how my movement acted and sounded like. My movement ended up dying, but maybe you can fix yours somehow. I also did a lot of manual winding since I took it off during work and sleep, and the hours in between weren't enough to keep it going. When I searched for tips the only advice I got was to get the movement serviced. I ended up ordering a Seagull for $70 from Ebay instead - new and serviced. Figured that was probably a better bet than sending my movement (that might be pre-used and in poor condition) to get a service for about the same cost.
  12. I like the DLC look generally speaking, but hadn't seen any particular watch that with it that I liked enough, so when I read about the custom made watches from H-factory I thought I might actually get one. I had my eyes set on a 390 since before - there's been so much talk about it and I've seen so many pics it was hard not to So get a DLC - or get the classic? A classic is always a classic right? I was going back and forth on this one but I finally decided to get a regular 390 - and I'll get it any day now (fingers crossed). I'm still very curious how it would have looked though. Am I the only one with odd (?) enough taste to think of getting one? If any of you got one, would you care to share a picture or two?
  13. Really? I had no idea that it was threaded on the outside... I have to say, I prefer to have them on the inside. Doesn't matter THAT much though. I've been hunting for a gen for a while now. I've found a few, but they are far and few between. The ones I've found so far have been either in bad shape, missing box or simply too expensive. I'll continue looking though - it doesn't have to be in mint condition. If I get one I'll probably wear it every day as well and it'll pick up scratches sooner or later anyway.
  14. My old one was slightly off, but I think it was the wrong length from the start. I got some new ones and cut one to be the correct length. If your current stem seems to be the right length you probably don't have to modify it. Don't take my word for it though, it might differ a bit - just take your time and try it out.
  15. My ETA looked quite nice at first, but when I started to remove parts and looking closer at them I saw that some of them were worn, corroded and dirty. Incidentally, the reason I was looking closer at it was because it broke down just a week or two after I got it. Just go with a clone, and if you are set on an ETA you can buy a new and serviced one later on.
  16. Yes, it went really well. I used JB Marine Weld and a small vice. It really was quite simple. Just think through the procedure before hand and take it slow. Make sure to leave it be until the epoxy is firmly hardened.
  17. I've only seen it on knives before. Depending on the price I'd get one.
  18. Exactly same with my last rep. I couldn't bother with sending it back though - bought a Seagull instead. Not from Josh though, but another TD.
  19. The rep case and rep tube has slightly different construction from the gens - but it's close enough. You won't be able to see it. You just need the epoxy to fill the slight gap and make the tube stick. Ideally, the gen tube would fit perfectly, but since it's not a gen case it doesn't...
  20. Same place I got mine. When he gets them he puts them up for sale, just check in frequently.
  21. There's different types of Loctite, right? I don't think the ordinary type will do. Since the hole is bigger than the gen tube you need a filler. I used JB Marine Weld with good results. Don't really know - I'm guessing the rep crown and tube are decent at keep the water away? Just make sure everything sits flush and put some silicone grease in the right spots.
  22. ROFL - now that just made my evening
  23. They look great! Is the extra thickness compared to other PAMs noticable?
