  1. Wish I could find the words to adequately express my thanks for this review. Very informative, detailed, and enjoyable to read. The pics alone are so appreciated. Impressive. Thank you for the good work.
  2. Pretty cool to see that. I've wondered how the gold wears. Thanks for taking the time to post w/ nice pics. Bummer the markers popped out though.
  3. Thank you MM. Will remember for reference. Andrew says they no longer make the L moon phase seen on his site. So bummed
  4. Nice looking ticker. Wish I was around then. Lucky bucks.
  5. Thinking of getting a rep moon phase. Asian 7751. Read a post where the OP indicates it runs a few min off per day. That's too many seconds off for me. Anyone have accuracy reports or opinions on this mov't? Your replies would be appreciated. Thanks... Goose.
  6. Putting on my gen GMT, but have been wearing my rep 177. More accurate than my two gen Rolex, Breitling, but not as accurate as my Speedy Pro. Sure, over time that may change. One of my Rolex and my Speedy are from the 80's. But, for now, it's amazing. Plus, I can see it in the theatre when I take my grand kids or wife to one of their lonnnggg movies .
  7. Old pic. But wearing it. Here's to time being on our side..
  8. Nice photos. Nice watch. Wish I had a bigger wrist so A Panerai doesn't look like a Flava Flay pendant on my arm Hope it keeps good time. My latest from Andrew is ticking away at just a couple seconds fast a day. Better than any off the shelf auto Seiko or Citizen I've had. And I've had a few. Anyway, nice pics & congratulations Thanks for sharing.
  9. Ok, thanks again Vandal, for your review that got me to order. Now at +2s/24h. One thing, the watch ticks LOUD. But, my first 6497, so guess that's how it goes. Thanks also to all for their insightful posts. But, where do I find a site/data for the "Davidson" version?
  10. Thank you. Where can I see Davidson's? Site link? Am thinking of a PAM236 or 386 next. But don't see much about them. Nonetheless, I am extremely pleased with my 177. Dialed in to +5s/24h based on current adjustment.
  11. Hi ifovco... Adjusted before I read your post. Running +1s/4h now. So, if that remains consistent, it will be at +6/24h. That, I would really like. Never thought of getting a rep serviced. What's a ball park price on that? Knowing that a COA adjust on my gen Rolex goes for ~$450 at a non-AD and my Breitling around $500, I'm curious what a rep service goes for. How do independent shops generally feel about working a rep? Thank you ifovco. .
  12. Thanks ifovco. This is my first Asian mov't. Looks great through the caseback, but performance is another factor to be seen. Appreciate your observations on your herd. I have a gen 1980's Omega Speedmaster Professional that's still -1s/24h. 1984 Datejust at -2s/24h. 2007 GMTII at +5s/24h. Then, there's the Breitling Colt GMT from 2005 that ran at -3s/24h but is now in a drawer since it degraded to over -15s/24h. I can buy a decent rep or two for the cost of servicing that Breitling. But, it'll have to happen. Well, back to this 6497; it's running too slow for me. Think I'm going to adjust the lever to the plus side. I've not done that to any inexpensive watch in years. Never on a gen. --->>> How far to the plus side would you guess I need to push the lever to add +15 seconds a day?
  13. Thanks Vandal. This watch is the cat's pajamas to me right now. Already showing a loss of a couple seconds on six hours. I may have messed up on the stall-hack when I set it to WWV. So, I've reset and will check it on the AM. Even if my set/check was correct, -8s/24h is ok...not the +4 in the QC pic. But, that's sitting on a bench. Here's a pic if it with some of its' large classmates. Thought it'd put some perspective for those that wonder about it's relative mass. My wrist is about 6.75". Also, I seem to have a smudge, as Vandal reported, inside. Beneath "OFFICINE PANERAI". Tough to see if you weren't looking for it. Thanks to Vandal for his review that pushed me into the Panerai pool. And a thank you out to Andrew at Trusty Time. He was extremely helpful in answering my many questions. And, getting a watch from across the pond in a week? Too cool for school. Thanks to those two gentlemen, I am extremely pleased. .
  14. Have the urge to dunk it in the tub to see if it's WR. Anyone done such?Pic in previous post is tiny. Must've goofed it. Here's another.
  15. Arrived today. Looks huge on my wrist. Takes the skinniest adjustment hole on me. I've never liked rubber straps. This I like. Goes well with this watch. Mine smells like vanilla too. Though big on me, liking this watch MUCH more than I thought I would. Just looks better in real life than pics convey. Will see how it runs from an accuracy perspective before my final verdict. Vandal, thank you. Will take more pics and post further, but, only if you don't mind. Wish to respect your thread.
  16. lfovco, thank you. I'll post a pic or two on the 177 thread Vandal recently started (hope he doesn't mind). But it was his thread that hooked me, afterall
  17. I appreciate the kindness. But I liked the pics and think others do too. It helps those new to collecting see how true to real the well made ones are. But I understand. Cheers...
  18. Hi Vandal.. Feel bad as I wasn't saying to take 'em down. Was wondering why we are asked not to post them. I tried to take mine down in the 177 thread, but I guess tapatalk doesn't let you mod/edit after a period of time. Sorry Vandal. I enjoyed your pics.
  19. Well, we're both stoopid then I thought the 111 was sandwich too. As for Panerai, I like them, but thought them overpriced. And, too large for my bone of a wrist (6.75"). But, for some reason, thinking of getting one. So, ordered my first rep PAM177 H Factory to see how it goes. Hope it looks as good as the 111 reps here. Which, I also prefer over the genuine pics shown here. So, long way to ask; 111 sandwiched? Thanks...
  20. Thanks Vandal. You're A-OK. isn't that great?! +3s/24h and it's a rep. Too kewl for school. My AR pic looks clear. But I ask, though there are pics as noted, as I only use an iPhone. Not a real quality monitor graphics system. Plus teeny. The specs indicate "colourless AR coating", so wondering. I know'll in less than a week. Will post accordingly on that and the accuracy of mine. Thanks for the blue sky reply. Sorry for all the questions. Just anxious and living PAM177 vicariously through you. Cheers Vandal, et al...
  21. Here's a pic of the print I was wondering about being engraved or just printed. Will let ya know when it lands, if I can discern. Vandal, did you open your's up for that fingerprint? Maybe you can check then? How's that accuracy check going? Is the AR blueish? Why is the sky blue?
  22. I'd ask Andrew about that bezel mark first. One QC pic he sent me showed my wife's watch at -10s. I asked to have that fixed. Now runs, consistently, at +6s/24h. He'll take care if you, pretty certain. But, nice ticker. He asks not to share pics. Wonder why? Maybe I'll show my PAM177 in Vandal's 177 thread. Sheet, what's he gonna do? Watch is in the mail. Nice watch BTW. Very much so. Please keep us posted on results if that bezel Eagle Eye Vandal noted.
  23. Andrew @ Trusty Time is always timely and trusty... "Check's in the mail. Well, watch is in the mail ."
